it is really needed in our environment to become green, in the Philippines environmentalist task by the President to educate people all over the Philippines to make our country clean and green. One of the strategy they made is to make a contest in every barangay, town, cities and provinces, who among will be chosen as a clean and green will receive cash prize and acknowledge by the President.
As a mountaineer our task also is to promote clean and green not only in the barangay up to the cities and provinces but also in the forest. We plant tress to the places that no forest found.
How about your place? Do you help conserving our planet and make our place clean and green?

People here in my city are environmentalist disciplined, we are aware about the environment. We do not throw a trash whenever and wherever, even a candy wrapper or smoke filter. Every year we plant trees in mountains with our "Pista Y Ang kagueban" celebration every month of June which is usually 2nd week of June. Thousands of people, all government employees, students, private employees, and individuals are joining this celebration, same as with our "Love Affair with Nature" which we celebrates every 14th day of February, with that celebration people here are planting Mangrove trees in seaside area. Our city, Puerto Princesa City proclaimed as cleanest and greenest city in Philippines.

I am aware of this phenomenon and I am taking some steps to help. Unlike before, we are now used to segregating our garbage into biodegradable and others. I am also now very sensitive with throwing trashes elsewhere. I'm actually pissed seeing some people do it.

i think philippines must do environmental awareness now... if we put trees and any plants to the streets of metro manila and other parts of the luzon area that has heavy traffics and vehicles it will reduce green house and pollution even if its small percentage cut still it will help to clean metro manila.

Hi my Kababayan julyteen, good day to you! Well this is my response to your forum topic discussion entitled "Clean and Green Environment are you aware". Your right that's it is really needed in our environment to become green, in the Philippines... It is need because we must save our planet from polution that's why we are protecting it and we must save in order to be use by our next life generation. Well me here in our country in the Philippines in our province i always join in some programs of our baranggay like the CLEAN AND GREEN which the thing that we do is too clean the dirty surrounding and plant some trees to make the community became green and away from polution like air polution. Here in our Baranggay there is a program for the community every month in order to maintain a good community. I wish all baranggay is like our baranggay so we can save our country! Well that's all my response! Happy earning and happy posting to you! Good luck to our earning career!

I guess the very reason why the government targeted the barangays is the fact that the baragay is the smallest political unit of the country. Being such, the government thinks that it is easier to convene people and encourage environmental care -- there is truth with the saying think globally, act locally.
I guess, if all barangays will be cooperative (a city has barangays too), then by collective effort, big things will be accomplished.

We always have the cleanest barangay contest in a town where I used to live but it only help beautify things while the contest is on-going. And we have all this sort of cleanest river, cleanest city, etc... as national contests but they did not help sustain a clean and green Philippines.
I think the government should have focused on making and IMPLEMENTING laws that will really help our country and the world a cleaner and a greener place to live in. The beautification contests are just "ningas-cogon" projects and it is not a long term goal. The environmental problems are so real and huge to be met with so little effort.
