hi friends....today i had a bad experience,when i was in my bus ,a stranger near me sneezed ,i was expecting him to say excuse me...but he didn't tell...i gazed at him for a while........but he never said......so what about you ........do you say or not...

i normally dont say excuse me when i sneeze among my friends but while talking to strangers i do.. its because i take friends for granted and they will not actually get angry at us for not saying "excuse me" after a sneeze but strangers may think i'm a mannerless guy.. so i always maintain my image in public :D

I always say it. It's like a compulsion, even if I'm alone when I sneeze!
It's odd I suppose that we expect the sneezer to say something!

Nope, i dun say that at all whenever i sneeze.. haha =D Because i dun see the point in saying that after i had sneezed.. After all, sneeze cant be controlled, same like farting.. Does anybody say excuse me when they fart?? I dun think so right.. lol =D
PLus, when i sneeze, i dun do it so loud whereby the whole bus can hear me.. I will do a gentle sneeze by holding my nose, so that it's more hygienic too.. hehe

I agree. I can't recall ever hearing anyone say excuse me for sneezing. lol...seems kind of ridiculous to me. Excuse me is meant to be like an apology for doing something rude...sneezing isn't rude it's a reflex.
I could see saying excuse me if you sneezed during someone's speech or something like that...I guess. Maybe you could say excuse me if you sneezed all over someone too...lol
No excuse mes neccessary for just sneezing though...stop being so uptight everyone who demands an excuse me for a sneeze! Get over yourselves!

At times I do and at others I don't. It totally depends on where I am at the time of sneezing and how speedy it reaches my nose.

As a child i was always taught to mind my P's and Q's and yes i do excuse myself if i sneeze in front of others. This goes for burping or making any other unacceptable noises. Its embarrassing at the time, and just one polite word such as "excuse me" seems to ease the situation for yourself and others who may be around you.

Well you never said if you told the guy "bless you". This is something I always do. I also say excuse me when I sneeze or anything else that calls for this response. He may have just felt so badly and not thought to be polite in his sickness.

Everytime I sneeze I say excuse me and I cover my nose and mouth.
It is a shame when I see adults coughing and sneezing and not covering their mouth or face.
It is discusting.

anyways, i think it's but natural for someone to say "excuse me" after sneezing.. hehehe

I always say excuse me when I sneeze, however my husband thinks it is weird that I do. Apparently alot of people are never taught that you should say excuse me for sneezing. He was taught to say it when he burped, but not when he sneezed. It is possible the guy had never heard that it was the polite thing to do to say excuse me when you sneeze.

saying simple things like excuse even when we sneeze shows a person with culture and / or who chose to have culture. so, unfortunately for you, you got an uncultured bus mate.

How impolite he was! I always say "excuse me" when I sneeze. For me, this is not about politeness, but already become a part of the sneezing process. Even when no one near me, I still do this.

I will ask excuse when i sneeze.
But in my company when i was in a big meeting hall someone sneezed and that guy asked excuse, but my boss got irritated why you interfer in the meeting.
So it all depend on what others think on....

Yeah I usually say excuse me, unless someone says bless you, then I say thank you.
