What do you think about other religion?

I've noticed that a lot of the people are religious on here. Whenever you come across someone who is not religious, do you feel offended or pity? How do you feel when people are not the same religion as you?

I simply accept the fact that there are several religions in the world. This is akin to saying, between two points in space there could be an infinite number of paths. But there are only a finite number of religions, however large. If one were very honest with one's convictions in reality there are as many religions as there are people. This because the variety of opinions as many as people. And religions are merely opinions about what the TRUTH could be. For the purposes of counting people having different philosophies of life I take the irreligious also as following the religion of atheism. Hence I have no problem in seeing people of different religions here. Of course if you are talking of intimate relationships like marriage well you need to have a matching of opinions about what is the right way to live. An agreed set of practices to follow to call it as proper living. Religions are the common set of beliefs among people have more or less a lot of common opinions. One thing is certain religions are merely opinions nothing more than that. That is exactly the reason why there are so many denominations in any of the religions. There may be more or less of them. But the fact remains that there are. Hinduism in particular a conglomerate of kindred faiths. These kindred faiths sometimes called cults are called "matam"s which is the same as opinions. There is one thing that is greater than religions understood in the above sense. That is the Higher Truth which, if you ask me, is impossible to be bound and expressed in words. Among persons of any religion, these people stand apart and at this stage and only at this stage where arguments cease to be ALL RELIGIONS(I would not prefer to use the word religion[because it is too gross] for this state) ARE SAME. Not just similar.

Very True. Even Scientific Facts are also opinions.Again that is also very true. More so in the light of the direction the Sting Theory or whatever direction the search for a Theory of Everything is taking.

I don't know anything about the Sting Theory, but yes, they are all theories.

I think religions are opinions also... I actually think all facts are originally opinions anyway. Even science is never really explained 100%. If you are saying that this Higher Truth is something that is greater for human comprehension, then I agree with you also. I feel that that is important because that is the essence of spirituality but religion is more organized as a corporation/organization/group.

I feel like they are the same. Only because I respect all religions. I respect the people. I may not agree with some things but it does not mean I can not understand some of their points of view and beliefs. I have learned to open my mind. Because usually we do not like things or people because we do not know enough. We only know what we have been taught. And what we have been taught is someones elses point of view not exactly our own. When you open your mind fully you see people and things differently.

Can't agree with you more. I think it's just the ignorance that makes people step away and judge or stereotype... but in the end, we're all connected.

I respect all religions and even people's right to have no religion. As long as they don't try to convert me. I do like to hear about other religions especially ones I am not familiar with but I don't like to be yelled at or tried to be scared or guilted into changing my religion.

Same here. I like to learn about other's religions too and am very inspired by them, but I don't like to be told what to believe.

When I was growing up in a small town, there was only one Service Station. It was owned by a man who had no religion. When this man talked every other word was cussing. Women would drive to the next town to get their cars serviced. Even men were tired of his dirty mouth. Then one day a Jehovah Witness came into the Service and began to talk to the owner. No one was there to heard the conversation, but the outcome was the Service Station owner was converted to Christianity. Now he stopped the swearing and taking the name of the Lord in Vain. Now he began to sing Hymns and Praise Jesus, and the worst of all, he was continually trying to convert his customers. But all who knew him were happy to have the cussing stop, and he prospered and never got over his newfound Christianity.

Wow, that's difficult that there was only one Service Station that you can go to... and you either had to hear him being offensive or trying to convert you. Sheesh.

I don't really care for religion as suc but whe i meet those who do I respect their freedm to believe that and wouldn't have a problem with them as long as they are willing to respect my beliefs and not try to preach to me. The moment they do that I will start to lose interest in knowing them.

I agree with you too. I think religion is a personal thing and it doesn't have to be the same with anyone.. only with what ever you like to believe.

I am one who allows anyone to feel, follow, belief as they see fit. Except those who kill and use God or the Devil as their reason. I am of a faith that isn't widely welcomed. We don't go looking to recruit and we have those in our circles who aren't tolerant just as other circles have those who are more tolerant. Human nature I guess. I think people who have a faith or moral code that they were taught are usually better for it.

That's interesting, I wonder what religion that is. I also don't agree with people who kill or use God or the Devil for their reasons.

I certainly dont take pity on the person UNLESS they are out of their mind fundementalist..then I take pity but not just about the religious aspect but the whole functioning in society oblivious to reality in general aspect too... Offended? ABSOLUTELY NOT! i am all for ppl believing in whatever it is that helps them, brings them comfort, wisdom, strength etc etc...Just because it is something different to wht I believe doenst make it wrong...Besides, truth be told, NOBODY can believe EXACTLY as I do because they arent me...Just like I could never believe exactly as someone else does because I'm not them...

God gave us free will so I respect each person's freedom of choice when it comes to religion as well as everything else. I'm no one to judge anyone else. I have friend who are of different religions than I am, friends who are wiccan, friends who do not believe at all. The only thing that matters to me is the quality of their character and whether we get along or not. Anything else is not for me to judge.
