How many pairs of shoes do you own?

A friend of mine here started a discussion asking people if they know how many clothes they own. If they know the number of shirts they owned or something like that. I could not find the discussion now to reread it again. Well I answered that I have three pairs of jeans and a couple pairs of nice pants and lots of shirts. I did go in to talking about all the shoes and socks that I own because my daughter works for a shoe store and every time I get a gift I get new shoes and socks or slippers. Now this leads me to today's discussion. My darling daughter brought me four new pair of new shoes today. yayaya The shoe store she works at is having a semi-annual sale and they have the crocs that are lined and unlined. For those of you who do not know crocs are rubber shoes there are shaped like clogs. She brought me two pairs of lined crocs and two pairs of unlined crocs. Now I have 6 pairs of crocs, why does a person need 6 pairs of crocs I have not idea but she gave them to me and I will wear them. I have one pair of lined crocs in blue which she gave me for my birthday in November and then today she gave me a red pair and a brown pair. Then she gave me an orange and a pink pair of unlined crocs today and a the green pair she gave me for my birthday and she added the jewel things on them. I am truly blessed to have her because at Christmas she also gave me a dozen pairs of socks. I have so many socks I have new socks in their wrapper still in my drawer. My question does anyone have a family member who works somewhere where they bring you free stuff? Are you well stocked up with the items. What do you do with the extras do you donate them or do you give to friends or do you keep the extras?

I only have one set of orthotics, and I don't see any reason to go changing shoes all the time. so, its a bit of both, any shoes I buy will very expensive, and I hate change

I can see what you mean when you say both. Orthotics tend to be expensive and some insurances do not pay for them.

Is it due to money or do you prefer to only have one pair of shoes? I use to only have a few pairs of shoes until my daughter gave me a lot of shoes.

Hi teapotmom, you are so lucky that to have a darling daughter who works for a shoe store. So that she could always give you shoes of different types and colors as presents. All the shoes, slippers and socks I own all the time are things that I bought myself. There are only a few pairs are presents from my husband. Yeah, I like to buy shoes, clothes and etc during semi-annual or annual sale season, so that I could get them with much lower price. When my younger brother worked at a textile factory years back I could always get towels, blankets, curtain cloth with offer price during the semi-annual on sale season of the year. There were kiosks in front of the factory building and many customers were busy picking their favorite stuffs there. I bought only what I needed so I don’t have excess towels, curtains or blankets in the closet. My brother had quit his work two years back. Happy posting and take care.

I bet you miss getting the textiles at a good price. My Granny use to work at a place which made paper sacks and plastic bags. We use to use the "doggy bags" for our lunch sacks. Now if you do not know what a doggy bag is it is a wax covered bag or foil lined bag that use to have a picture of a dog on it that said "Doggy" or something like that for when people first started taking food home from restaurants before the containers like they have now.

Yeah teapot, it’s so nice to have members of our family, relatives and close friends to work at factories, outlets, stores or etc so we could have the good opportunity to get stuffs with lower price if there is any on offer, as we could always acquire first hand news or information from them. We would get nothing if the old stocks of the store that they want to clear have sold out. Thanks for willing to give me the detailed information about “doggy bag”. Before this I know all about it, is that it is an ordinary bag for customers to put the lunch snack that they have bought, to take away only. Oh I see! It used to have picture of an adorable on it formerly. It’s really lovely. It’s rather sorry that I haven’t seen any of such cute doggy bag before. Take care and happy posting.

I am glad they do not use the doggy bags anymore. We had to use them everyday for our lunch sacks and we got so much teasing I do not think I could use one today. Heehee

oh gosh I have so many different shoes. I think last count was 32, but I have gotten rid of some pairs that I don't wear or are falling a part. I love shoes, but I am working on downsizing my shoes.

When you two downsize what do you do with your old shoe? Do you give to the chairty shops or do you just throw them in the trash?

Wow so many colored crocs you have. Crocs are very very expensive over at my place and there's never a sale on them so I have not owned one yet.I like the ballet pump croc design and sandals type design where our toes can be seen. I have 1 soft reeboks blue sports shoe, one pink reebok tennins sports shoe (don't know hot to play tennis but got this shoe cos its pink), 1 crocodile white sandals (got it at 50% sale as crocodile brand is very expensive), 1 white sandals (specially made and worn during my wedding - seldom wear it and thinking of selling it off in ebay), 1 crisscross beige sandals (also handmade), 1 pink reebok sandals. Most of my shoes are bought for me by my husband. He's my shoe supplier........

Wow your hubby buys your shoes that is great. My husband would not begin to know how to shop for shoes for me. The crocs her in the USA are $39.99 lined and $29.99 unlined that is to expensive for me. I would not have them if it was not for my daughter giving them to me. I now have enough to keep out at the pool side for when friends come over and need shoes to wear around the hot cement or so they do not slip on the wet cement.

Hey tea, To be honest I have no idea how many pairs of shoes I have but I guarantee it's way too many! I will guess-timate around 25 but out of those there are only about 7 I ever wear. The rest are just taking up space. They're either broken or too big for me, I know that sounds strange but when I lost 60 lbs the shoes I had stretched out and fit me then are now too loose. I save them just in case I put on a few pounds. You really made out like a bandit with all those new shoes. I wish I had someone who could bring me free stuff! My mother likes to shop at Goodwill and sometimes she'll pick a few things up for me that she thinks I can use. So that's about as close as I get to free stuff but it's not new. If she brings stuff that doesn't fit I take them around to my friends to see if they can use them. If not I donate them back to Goodwill.

You have such a nice mother all's my mother does is give me grief. I went to the good will Friday and bought mom some new clothes and I am finding then are not as cheap as they use to be. We have another thrift shop that has stuff just as nice as good will for 1/2 the price.

I have one pair of sneakers, one pair of snow boots, two pairs of dressy boots, one pair of dress shoes, and five pairs of sandals. :-) It's a small collection in comparison to some, but it makes me happy. I would love to have free stuff brought to me by friends, but I don't know anyone who works in that type of job. :-)

Right now, I have four. I already gave away the rest for others to use. The four left to me are my favorites. Very comfortable to wear and of good quality. Those that I gave away are also good but not as good as I have right now.

How nice that you gave them away did you give them to someone who needed them or did you give them to a charity shop?

I have about 3-5 pairs of shoes and a pair of flip-flops. I am wanting some new ones though and i need some new walking/running shoes. I used to get new shoes all the time because my uncle would buy me them but now that i'm older he doesn't do that stuff anymore lol I still get some new ones here and there though.. i'm not a big shoe person. 1-2 pairs work just fine for me. i just need a pair to walk/run in and a pair to go out in.. and i need my flip-flops.

I use to wear flip flops all the time but I have heel spurs that I had surgery on and now have come back. I cannot wear flip flops. I need good shoes because of the heel spurs and I now have nasty scars from the surgery from having the spurs "removed". I cannot even wear Birkenstock because of the way the bed of the heel hugs my heals it rubs on the scar and if I wear them to long it will run a blister on the scar.

I do love my crocs I even wear them in the pool and they do not float off my feet when I dive in. I do walking laps in the shallow end of the pool and it is easier on my feet if I wear my crocs. I wear them in and out of the pool and take them off to go in the house in the summer. I have two pairs on the patio one pair at each door.

I have 2 pairs of shoes because I buy the ones that are like $70 - $80 dollars because i like the style of them (there skater shoes) what i don't see is way people like too buy like 100 pairs because they want to show off. i could show off if i wanted to but i find that rude when people show of things.

I have a friend who needs to show off like that. She got mad when I told someone that she got her ring from Avon. I asked her why she was mad my friend said "Because Avon is cheap and I do not want anyone knowing that I buy cheap jewelry." to me that is showing off.

That is neat that you do not have to buy school supplies because they can add up. I bet your kids love Grandma's goodies especially new crayons.

It is sure nice to be well stocked up with shoes. I did tell her last year for my birthday not to get me shoes I was to stocked. She gets me the expensive shoes, well more expensive then I would buy, so they do not wear out like the cheaper ones.

Not sure how many shoes that I own, especially since I usually end up sharing them with my daughter who has the same size feet as I do. I only buy shoes when they are on sale. Usually at the end of each season, I will buy a few pairs of shoes. I wish I knew someone who worked for a shoe store.

It sure is nice to have an in with a shoe lady. heehee. When she lived here in town and managed a shoe store I would go see her at work all the time. I will tell you it was not uncommon for me to buy 6 pairs of shoes at a time when they would have a sale and she would give me her discount. What a deal, but back then I was working and needed a lot of shoes to go with different outfits and also to keep my feet from hurting all the time. One time she gave me a pair of clogs and I had a pair they one pair was brown and one pair was black the color was o subtle. I worked all day with mismatched shoes on all day. No one told me, I even went and had my hair done after that and then went back to work to check on my employees I was the supervisor. One of my night shift employees noticed that I had two different shoes on. How embarrassing.

I only own about about four pairs, one of which I bother to wear. I end up wearing my white sneakers everywhere, so I don't really worry about owning tons of shoes. I have a pair of black boots I bought in case I ever needed to dress up, and they literally have dust on them now. I've never worn them, not even once. If I ever do need to wear them, they'll be out of style, so not sure what I was thinking when I bought them.
