Cloth or disposable? I use both. I like the benefits of the cloth because you know where they came from.. Very affordable and pay for themselves over and over..
Disposable.. I love to be honest. Pull out put on throw away... go to the next one. With cloth you have to clean the poop out, soak them until the wash.. and with two it's a load a day.. lol
What about you? What will you use or what have you used or what are you using?

I am concerned about the untested effects of the chemicals in disposables. I have read one study that believes they can reduce fertility in infant boys. I am trying to move away from disposables but it is expensive buying nice diaper covers for cloth diapers etc.

I have never heard of that! Wow.. Once you get enough diapers in a stack I think they pay for themselves over and over. I bought most of mine with my 4th child and I am still using them on #6!

I did use both but now I'm using disposable for my son, but when he was still an infant I alternately use cloth and diposable. I use cloth most often especially when he have rashes. Disposable diapers are very hot and cause rash so fast.

I would use my cloth when they got a rash too. Helped a lot.

We used all cloth. There are so many issues with disposable - health, rash, chemical, environmental. Disposables contain dioxin, which is a very toxic chemical. They contain chemicals which were banned from tampons in the 1980s. Icky.
Usually if a baby seems to have rash only with cloth, the cause is the detergent used. Either the child is sensitive to the detergent, or the detergent is not getting completely rinsed out. Use only a small amount of detergent per load of diapers and run an extra rinse to make sure all the detergent gets rinsed out.

Where did you get this information? Is it on the diaper packages? Yikes!

I intended to use cloth ones, but we didn't get my daughter until she was 10 months old. Then it seemed like in another year she would be potty trained anyway, so I never started the cloth diapers.

I don't have kids. But I am curious about which is better. And I'm surprises there's health risks with disposable diapers. I thought I would use disposable for when I do, to save the hassle of cleaning all those dirty diapers. Now I'll have to think about it.

I know.. I am not sure if it's true or not. I guess I need to do some searches... could be a myth from the Cloth Diaper Companies... who knows.

Disposable. I don't like the idea of having to clean poop out of cloth, it would make me want to just throw it away. Plus the worry of sticking my baby with a pin! Oh man... thank goodness someone invented the disposable diaper. I'm Saved!!!

I prefer disposable yeah I know I am a badd person but I did the disposable thing. And we usually ended up with more then diapers being washed. Our clothes and thiers and sheets and other items. If you look at it from a different angle people think they are cheaper to use. Way back then maybe, But now days when the cost of everything has went up, water, electric, washing soaps, bleach, add it all together at maybe 2 loads a day and it adds up. So now days it is cheaper to get disposable and save on the wear and tear of your clothes and your washer and cut back on laundry by atleast a load a day and the drying time.

PS, many (if not most) people who use modern cloth diapers don't soak them. Just shake the poop off (using a fleece liner makes this step a breeze, or you can use a diaper sprayer) then toss in a dry pail until wash day. No reason to soak, really.

I used to have all of that fancy stuff.. the diapers I have are from my daughter 6 years ago.. they are still good looking diapers. I either go out and wach the with a hose or dip them in the toilet.. I dont stick poop and all in the washer.. I have heard of moms who do that..

we use disposable with our son.One of the main reasons was a hygene one.We live in a small 2b/room house, where the laundry is part of the kitchen & there was no where to soak the nappies.I find disposables far more convienient & easier.I guess im just lazy lol

I use cloth diapers exclusivily now. With my first I used only disposable but I have switched to cloth for my last two. I am very concerned about the chemicals and gels in disposable diapers. One of them is even a known carcinagin(sp) and there are studies showing that some of the ingredients cause lower sperm counts and reproductive problems in lab animals. That is a risk I won't take with my children. I also love how the cost of them is so much less. It does raise my laundry load but I think it is worth it. I don't soak, I just plop the poo in the potty then I wash a cycle on hot with vinegar and tee tree oil then a cycle on hot w/a small amount of laundry detergent. I like Little Lambs All in Ones one size the best.

I use disposibles. They are much more convienent. Any if you do end up having a baby that is sensitive to them you can go somewhere like Whole Foods and buy more natural ones. We were told by the hospital to just stay away from the extra absorbant diapers because they are too absorbant and can take away the babys natural moisture too.

My kids are grown but I used both. I prefer the disposables, even if it isn't as 'green' as we should be. I have to admit they're much cleaner for the baby and the mommy! lol
