Mine are all turned on. Not all the notifiers are arriving though. I then read the ones that do arrive and respond where there is something interesting.
I see no point in having them set to 'off' and as soon as I accept a friend I always turn them to 'on'.

I only turn off my notifiers when I am going away for a period of time to family or on vacation and do not want my in box flooded...knowing I would never get caught up anyway when I return!
Otherwise, I always have everyone turned on!

No I have never done that. What is the point? If I don't want read what they have to say then I just delete them.

Let me see, you have a less full email box and can get more done and also when you go to the email box, you just get the text box here. So you do not know if anyone else responded to the post, so you do not know whether the response has been repeated. The second reason, you may prefer to go to the mylot web page and go to the friend started and answer it then. Then you can choose to see what topics you can respond to, and avoid that "I don't know anything about this," You can, of course, instead of putting notify on for all, do it for the ones you like to talk to all the time.
It does not mean you hate them. I find that going to the myLot web page easier and I do not get overwhelmed by just one of my friends.

i turn off notify for the people who are obviously just here for the money,
they'll start 30 to 40 "empty" discussions a day that fill my inbox.

Hi there Rocket,
Well perhaps once again I'm the odd one out (you would think I would be getting used to that by now wouldn't ya?) I have never turned my notified on for anyone. I come directly to the Mylot site to do my reading and my responding because I do not want e-mail after e-mail clogging up my inbox.
So, I guess I've silenced everyone in one foul swoop. no need for anyone to feel ignored or abandoned by me, because trust me you are not unique, I ignore everyone
Happy Mylotting!

I for one, have my notify off on several of my friends. It isn't that I don't want to respond to my friends discussions. I can do that from the mylot front page where it says "Discussions my Friends Have Started". The reason I turn notify off is because I have many friends and if I left it on, my email would literally be overflowing. There is no way I can respond to all my friends discussions, but I do try to reply to those that I have something to add to. I treasure all my friends here on mylot.

Thank you. I have a particularly "prolific" friend who I had to do this with this morning. I could not get anywhere trying to go through my e-mails! I value my friends here too! That's why I couldn't just delete this one. I'll try turning the notify back on in a week or so. They may just be going through a phase!

In most instances I have the notify on. The exceptions are a few old friends who are not active or they seldom come here at the present time, so I see no point in having theirs turned on when I also check 'friends started' discussions. There are a couple of others who start a large number of discussions and although I do respond to a reasonable number of theirs, if I had them turned ON, I would have an overfowing inbox. I try to balance it out so that every week when I am here on myLot, I can respond to at least one or two (or maybe more) discussions that my friends have started.
Also there are times when I simply do not even get online for days, or maybe a week or more, and I do like to be able to read what is in my emails. The email address I use for myLot is only for myLot but I am sure that if I opened it and found hundreds of unread emails, I would not get to them all. It would be a bit too daunting for me and I would rather not have to face that maybe miss a good discussion because I had deleted it unread.
The other thing is that these days I check out potential friends before I approve them. I read the discussions that they start and also the responses that they make, then approve them if we have things in common. If we have nothing in common then I generally would not accept them as a friend because I would rather hae fewer friends that I can interact with than hundreds I have nothing in common with.

I've had notifications turned off for EVERY friend for over 2 years now. I never enjoyed the constant email bombardment when I activated this functionality when I first joined and have never bothered to turn it back on since. I do seem to keep tabs on mist things quite fine without it, so I don't intend to trun them back on anytime soon!

I have done this for one..It was very frustrating having discussion after discussion, like about 20 just about nothing with no content and 5 word sentences and they would never reply to any of them anyways , I ended up deleting them anyways...

I have occasionally turned notify off. I don't know why I don't just delete them.

I don't have notify on as I don't read my emails in the email address I have for here often enough and the emails that would be received, would be old.
If I were to have it turned on, and I turned it off on someone I'd have to have a good reason, but then again if the reason was that good I'd just delete them.

No! All my notifications where off. I switched some on recently for the first time ever lol, as I did not know it excisted. I am going through my friends discussions in my emails at the moment. I have been ill with a headache. I had a CT scan done and it showed up a small spot in my so called brain lol. Have no further explanation of this yet, but apparently it does not cause my headache symptoms and loss of vision I had. (dont no what symptoms I am meant to have then lol) Well going for a MRI soon, but I hope its nothing too bad. I think I am ok though, as my headaches great at the moment. Sorry for late reply, but I am answering all these discussions now in my inbox. Take care and I sure will never ignore yous at Mylot:)

When I was new here, I did turn one notify off because the person was posting discussion after discussion after discussion and I just couldn't keep up with them. I don't remember them being particularly interesting either! Why didn't I delete him? Dunno...
Now I have them ALL turned off. Just can't keep up... I have a life... Really... Sort of...

I have a few turned off but it is only because I can't keep up with all of the notifications that I get.. I don't want to just delete them and completely end any further correspondance, I normally just use it as a break time.. I do turn them on again after awhile.. I get overwhelmed and can't keep up, but I do love to respond to all eight pages of my friends, I just don't have that much time..

Oh gosh, I have turned the notify to off on two persons. No it is three. One because although I had responded to ALL of her numerous discussion s(to me - four a day is numerous) she had not responded to any of mine. I know that my discussions are not brilliant but out of politeness she could have answered at least one.
The other two people were new and they posted even more discussions that I really had no interest in. Like rock bands or current singers (or was it swingers?) and they was also posting technical posts that I did not understand.
why not delete them? I felt that this would be unkind and still, if I see a posting from them I do occasionally respond. Blessings
