Hi there,
Your soup sounds YUMMY! There's nothing like a good plate of homemade soup. I make it all the time, in fact I made a pot of chicken soup last night. My mother used to make good home made soup, (she's gone now) and that's one thing i really miss. I always looked forward to a plate of her soup. Although, I've never had any complaints about mine. Mom's always tasted better.
I make all kinds, chicken, beef barley, vegetable, and then of course those that you just make from scratch and hope for the best it tastes good. LOL
I hope you enjoy your soup.

You know I have tried to make all kinds of soup and for some reason no one likes the soup I make it tastes good when I make it but it's not a knock out kinda of soup, my mom and sister can make wonderful knock out soups and if I try to do it following their recipe it never happens lol I can bake better then they can lol. So I guess that's just as good.

Would you believe it - I just made one and am waiting for it to cool down. We had a chicken carcass in the 'fridge left over from a meal. When I was shopping earlier I bought some carrots and parsnips. I tend to cook up some onions in oil in the base of the pressure cooker, blend in some herbs and spices and add the meat, veg and water. Heat the sucker up and bang the lid on for twenty minutes and hey presto..!
This time I added pearl barley and lentils too. I often do the same with cheap cuts of meat, turkey leg is a good one... If I have a large amount of meat it becomes a stew - if only a small amount left over from a meal, then it's a soup...
My Dad taught me to cook like this when I was a kid, the women in our family are OK with baking, but not so good with the main course...

Mmm, sounds great! I love to cook and have been brave enough to try my hand at some homemade soups. I make chicken noodle, turkey noodle, split pea, vegetable beef, french onion and my latest, tortilla soup. My next endeavor will be to make cheddar brocolli soup. Soup is great for cold nights or during the winter time but good all year round as well. Enjoy!

Yum! I love making my own soup. It is so much healthier than getting the canned stuff. It has much less sodium too. I make a huge pot of it and freeze the leftovers to pull out on a cold day. I usually do a grilled cheese alongside my soup and it makes the perfect meal.
I have three favorite soups. My first favorite is broccoli and cheese. My second is chicken noodle. My third is Baked Potato. Yum! Now I want some soup!

Creamy ham and potato...or ham and potato chowder, I'm not sure what to call it....we just call it potato soup but I know that brings to mind a lot of different things, depending on where you are from.
Cut the potato into bite sized chunks (approximately one potato per person). Boil them until they are done to your liking (we like ours a little less done) then drain them. Add about a cup of milk per potato and simmer. Season to taste. We like garlic, onion powder, paprika, and a tiny pinch of dill weed, salt and pepper. Just before you are ready to serve, add ham chunks (I like to use the canned ham because it has a more concentrated ham flavor but you can use whatever you like). Simmer until the ham is up to temperature and serve.
I also make a beef and mushroom soup. Usually after we have stuffed portabellas, I take what I scraped out of the crowns, including the stems, plus a six or eight button mushrooms, and put it all in a food processor with some Parmesan cheese and cream. Then pour that mixture in a pot of boiling beef broth and shredded beef (round steak works well) and let the whole thing simmer for a couple of hours. About 15-20 minutes before you are ready to serve, add a cup (more if you like) of sliced baby bellas or criminis and simmer just long enough to soften but not really cook them.

I love to make soup. I like making clear soups much more than creamy ones, but both are yummy. It's so nice to make a big pot of soup that will last maybe the whole week and have some left over to freeze. I've made beef vegetable, chicken vegetable, beef bean and veggie, matzo ball, cream of broccoli, cream of potato and this vegetable soup that I craved my whole pregnancy with daughter. I love soup and I try to feed it to my family with a meal so they won't eat so many bad things. It's a very good first course, especially when you are smart about the ingredients. Try to eliminate as much salt as you can and use low fat things. I love cooking and soups are definitely top of the list!
Your soup sounds delicious too. I have a ham bone in my freezer just waiting for me to make a soup out of.
