Hello Mylotters! Do you still receive or give flowers on Valentine's day? From some people's point of view, this is already very old-fashioned because some would opt to giving gifts and other more tangible presents during hearts day. Any thoughts on this? I still receive flowers on Valentine's day but I really cannot compete to the flowers received by my girl every year.

I can honestly say NO! My hubby and I have been married for 11 years now and I think maybe 3 years he has gotten me something. He thinks its just an over glorified holiday and a way for retail stores to make money. He says he would rather buy me something just because and not because its expected. But, that is few and far between as well, lol. Oh well, such is life.

I share your husbands view of Valentine's day - far better to receive a gift or thoughtful gesture because you're you than because there is some sort of obligation/pressure dictated by a particular date. Sadly its another day that the retailers guilt trip people into paying over the odds for stuff that no-one really wants.

Last year I got some chocolates and a card. I am someone I feel that can be pleased pretty easily. I was happy with that, I gave my so and watch and I made a really nice dinner. I feel we were both pleased. This year I think we are going to go see a movie at least at this point that is my plan. Then again plans can be changed too. Nice discussion and happy mylotting to you as well.

I still recieve flowers on Valentines Day, even if it's just from my mom. I love flowers. It's the best thing to recieve on Valentines Day, I think anyways. That and having someone there to love.

Actually i never receive any flowers from my partner.Even valentines day or holiday,or anniversary.Im envy of those girls who always receive flowers from their loved ones with or without an occasion.Yah its an old fashioned way but for me,it's a romantic thing to receive flowers. The last valentines day i receive flowers is when i was still in 2nd year high school and my secret admirer ask someone to gave the flowers to me.

I am a little odd I guess because I never liked getting or giving REAL flowers. I feel sorry for the poor flowers, they die too quickly! I just hate seeing all that beauty turn brown and die. What I like to receive and give is SILK flowers and plants! They last forever, look just as good and you won't have to be a witness to their demise!

I must have gotten a Valentine's gift about once or twice in my life.
Others get loads.
I haven't ever really gotten into Valentine Day or I might get more.

hmmm... giving flowers on valentine's day is indeed considered by a lot of people as old fashioned... BUT... It's still OK... Flowers have always been beautiful anyway... ^_^

Yes, I always receive flowers on Valentine's Day from my husband. He always buys me another gift also, but he hasn't given up the flower thing - he's romantic like that! I often also get flowers on my birthday and sometimes just for no reason.

Do I get what for what? Are you kidding? I don't get things for my birthday, Christmas, or anything else. Why would he remember for a made up day like Valentines?
We will sneak a date night in once or twice a year.... well, did. It's been a while.
Too many kids and not enough.... anyway, that's another topic.

I think it is more about the cards (can even be handmade) and the romantic evening planned to enjoy with your loved one. As I said before, at least it should be one date that is not cancelled. Flower sellers boost their prices like you cannot believe so I would rather send or buy roses any other day. You could always say 'Happy Day After Valentines Day', when all the leftover roses are on sale!!!

I don't like this holiday really and never have. I don't care if my s/o acknowledges this day or not...in fact i'd rather he wouldn't. It is just a day. If my guy treats me wonderful all year long but oh my forgets valentines day...do I now have cause to question his love? amazingly some women do. On the flip side...if he treats me like crap for the most part do I take this day and assume it is a sign of better days to come if he showers me in flowers, candle-lt dinner , etc?

well i think ita a waste of time giving gifts or flowers on Valentine's day because if you really love a person you no need to express with gifts or flowers. why only on that day u will love a person or express feelings any other day you will not express so i feel its a waste of time in such thinks , if u truely love a person you can tell him directly no need to express him with gifts or flowers.

I still get flowers from my hubby. I think that it's nice to get them every once in awhile. However, I do point out that flowers die in a week, so why really spend that much money on them? I'm not sure what I would expect on Vday if no flowers though.

its old-fashioned but why not hold on to this? we are living in a fast world with lots individual minds so stick to Valentine. I love Valentine and a little note on that day will give such a big loving feeling.
