Know their interests so that you will have ideas on what to give them. Like for example, for your mother, mothers mostly like home decors, so you can give her scented/decorative candles. Or if she loves to cook, then give her something that she can use in the kitchen. For your dad, maybe, a new tie, or a new pair of socks or hanky maybe... depending on his interests. Or maybe you can give them something personalized, like a key chain or mug or towel or pillow with their names on it or their pictures on it.

to your mom, a spa treat. dad? uhmm..maybe a hanky. friend, a cute message to her friendster account. a sister? ice cream a brother? i hope i have a brother. but maybe a hanky. hehehe...

I don't really understand why you would want to give a valentines gift to a relative? Valentine's day is traditionally a day when you let someone know that you have a romantic interest in them. Ok, in recent years it has become common to continue giving valentines tokens to someone who already knows you fancy them, so you get husbands and wives still giveing valentines, but I've never heard of anyone giving a romantic gift to a relative before. I would stick to using it as a time to tell someone who may not know that you have a romantic interest in them a hint, and keep it simple, a card is plenty. The rest is just the shops trying to get you to spend money and has little to do with the traditions of the festival.

im gonna get them an all-expense-paid dinner date in a fancy restaurant.. juz the two of them.. to bring back the old times.. a friend.. a greeting would be fine.. a sister.. hmm.. i aint got no sister.. a brother.. maybe an FHM magazine..
