To Convert Currencies

I am living in America but if I was to join a website which pays in a different currency, I would like to know how I'll be able to convert it to US dollars in AlertPay and PayPal. Is this something I will have to do on my how? If yes, how? Or will it happen automatically?

Paypal will convert the currencies for you but they shave a little off of the top. I am waiting to reach a payout on myhpf and I will know for sure how much they charge in a few days. But I have heard that they charge something like .20 per dollar or something crazy like that. But if you are converting from euros that is pretty much just the extra you would have made.
