I love to ride horses. The last time I went riding was in the mountains of northern Mexico. I was at a friends cabin, I got up early, saddled up and started up a mountain near by. I took a photo! Hope it shows up here! How about you, do you like to ride? Where do you usually go?

Firstly, let me say what a lovely pic that is! I would love to ride horses, especially a black or a white one but unfortunately, when I was younger, I never found the time or the finance to learn. I really regret that, because I love the thought of the freedom when riding and the wind through my hair. Brightest Blessings.

Well, I have to say that you did a great job if it was your first time with a new camera. They're all too technical for me these days... takes me ages to adjust and understand the workings of them. lol. Yes, I know what you mean about it being hard on the rear end, and think I would prefer to take a slower trot on a horse, particular along the beach or on the hills. I would love that, but fear that someday you speak of has gone now. The fact that I'm aging a little now prevents the agility to even get up onto the horse, let alone ride it. Do they make steps for that? ha ha ha

OH, Darkwing, it is a pleasure you should not deny yourself. If you ever, ever get the chance to try it with a nice quiet, safe horse, do it! You won't regret it and you will be addicted. My love of horses has brought me to the place I am now in my life and it is a happy place, I assure you.

Thanks! The camera was a new one and I was learning to use the remote, LOL it took a few times but I was happy with that one. I've been riding for a long time and just luv it, the freedom you have to go where you want. I don't like to go fast, it's hard on the rear end! (if you know what I mean) Sorry, mabe some day you'll get a chance! Thanks for the response! tdemex

I love to go horseback riding but haven't been for several years! Having to work really puts a damper on things you like to do! Looks like you had a good time!

YES, I LOVE TO RIDE! It just gives you a feeling of freedom and being at one with nature somehow, doesn't it? I dunno how to explain it better. I love to explore on my horse. Since I am geographically challenged (read: gets lost in own backyard, LOL), I can go anywhere I want to, and when I get lost or I want to go home, I just drop the reins and let her take the lead and she brings me home every time. My favourite horse, Cody, is five-gaited. That is actually why I bought her. They are listed by speed, slowest to fastest. WALK - JOG - TROT - CANTER - GALLOP. The trot is the bumpy one that you say makes your butt hurt and you are supposed to "post" (english) to prevent the rough gait from being too rough on you. But the JOG is the best of the best gaits. You cover more ground than at a slow walk, but a little bit slower than a TROT, but it is soooo SMOOTH. The expression to describe it is this, "You can carry a full glass of water and not spill a drop". Once I heard that I searched to find a horse with THAT GAIT! And was it ever worth it. I've owned her now for 12 yrs. The horse looks very pretty when Jogging, too. Mine lifts her tail up and looks like she prances all fancy-like. She is a Pinto mare, but I'm sure she has some Arab in her background.

I was very lucky. I spent a few college years on an island in northern Michigan called Mackinac Island. It's a tourist stop and does not allow cars! Horses and bicycles are the only mode of transportation, other than walking. There are some grand mansions on the bluffs that over look the bay and the famous Mackinaw Bridge. I worked for a wealthy family from Wash. D.C. and took care of their 6 horses two were carriage horses, the other 4 were riding horses. I lived in an apt. above the barn and got $100.00 a week and food. It was 1967-1968. Good deal back then, anyway I cleaned them and fed them and groomed them, the bonus was I could ride them for exercise. I learned a tremendous amount of information from that experience. I know what gaits are! LOL! Thanks for your response anf here a BR for bringing back those memories! tdemex

I love to ride I haven't been in a long time. I use to live on a farm and we had four horses but after working all day in the fields I never felt like riding. Great picture!

I am having the similar dreamland since I was a child: I am riding a horse dashes on the prairie... I live in the Chinese city, hardly have chance to see a horse except goes to the Tianshan pasture, the tourist area, maybe can rides the horse which had been tamed. Therefore, this dream which rides a horse dashes appears continuously in the great distance prairie in my dream...

I use to horseback ride a lot more when I was younger.. I took a trail ride around the allegheny mountains for a week and it was wonderful I love horses and I love riding.. When I had the time and oppurtunity I use to ride with my one friend and we would go for a whole day on the horses and ride through all the trails in her area.. It was the best thing in life I so miss doing that but now I'm a mother of five and I have very little time and I really wish I had the time and money to go more often... Or if I had the ability to purchase a house with a lot of land so I could have a horse or two to go trail riding everyday...

Wow!! Thats sounds very adventurous. I always wanted to learn to ride a horse but never could do it because i stay in a country where horse riding is not a passion and i come a place where we dont have any horse around and if any horse is seen then its something really great... Of all the animals i love the horse .. i feel it is an elegant animal. You are really lucky to have the ride and feel free...

Hi! I saw one of your posts in another discussion and decided to check out some other ones. I was surprised to see this one as it relates to me. :) I practically grew up on a horse. From the time I was six years old until I was fourteen I rode horses and competed in barrel racing, pole bending, and flag racing. I had some personal issues to work through near the end of my "riding era" and eventually sold my horses to other people who could appreciate them more. Just yesterday I rode for the first time in about a year. I rode on an open trail with my father on one of his barrel horses...my husband is scared of horses so he rode the bike trail that coincides with the horse trail. :) Of course, now my back and shoulders are killing me (but never my legs...horseback-riding has never hurt my legs), but it was worth it! By the way, cute photo. You are lucky to have horse-back rode in some beautiful parts of the country. :)
