What about Quad Core AMD Phenom™ II? Are this good too, i search it and read about this processor. It can do all (high definition entertainment, gaming, creativity, advanced multitasking performance, power-saving innovations for smaller, cooler machines that are energy efficient and beyond) then you'll enjoy a new level of responsiveness and visual intensity. AMD puts high definition computing within everyone’s reach.

Bleh. What happened to AMD? It used to be so popular and great. Cheap maximum performance, but they never advanced in their technology hence lost their glory days to Intel. I heard AMD is working on something new which was a pretty interesting read. But if they don't pick up the pace and keep creating processors with the same old technology they will still be where they are today; outdated but cheap. They work great for web programming 8)

well amd used to have their glory...but i don't know what happened to their processors...it's not value of your money now when you buy amd processors...not like before...it was so fast and cheap...you said that right...what are the updates of amd that you have heard or read?

Yeah I know. I used to build computers with my friends a few years back - AMD Athlon all the way! It's too bad they went the way they did.
I will try to find the article I read about the future AMD processors they announced (not PUMA) and I'll be back ;)

Intel can continue with the lead. I read that it is going to bring out a processor architecture called Labrasser(don't know the exact name, but this is what I remeber). They say it is great for playing games, and other graphics related tasks. Also, Intel has enough lead in the research point of view.

really? so it it something more advance than ddr3 memory and FSB(Front Side Bus) i hope when there would be something new. it would be something new to all parts of a cpu including the graphic card. the bad side would be when upgrading it would be more costly because we would change alot of parts from our CPUs

Intel has always been ahead from AMD in producing lot of variety of great CPUs.
There isn't many AMD processors built for specific needs like Intel has made for example Centrino, Dual Core, MMX, Xeon, etc, etc.
AMD is not very much liked by IT professions but of course it is cheaper than Intel so home users don't bother but Intel will very likely remain ahead of AMD .

Intel now has lowering their prices too with the value for your money but still they are more expensive than AMD as always. The price speaks for it's quality and speed. That's what I think. Their prices has a reason behind it and it's worth every penny.
