would you honestly visit the philippines despite the rise in kidnapping?

the philippines is full of beautiful beaches and fabulous tourist spots. even my commute to the city makes me sigh in awe after so many years.
but the MILF has been wreaking havoc in Mindanao, kidnapping a lot of people, almost indiscriminately. they've taken reporters and now, they've kidnapped members of the international red cross.
knowing this, if someone invited you to come visit the beautiful philippines, would you hesitate?

the thing that you don't know, is whatever happens in the philippines, there lauren there and i'm going to look for her, she the love of my life :P

I would still visit Philippines but I will not go in mindanao.Hehehehe....

yes, hehe, that's a fair answer. :D have you heard of any specific tourist spot in the philippines that you would perhaps like to visit? anything WAY north of mindanao? :D

You have to be careful anywhere now days. For many reasons.
I would love to visit the philippines. I have met some wonderful people from there.
I would use care. Look into things, stay where I know people would look out for me, that kind of thing... but I wouldn't just NOT go.

i wouldn't dismiss it as well, if someone asked me. i just won't go to wherever the crime wave is.
