I format my computer evry 3 months. I do it to regain the speed and get rid of the viruses that my anti virus fails to detect or heal. I format only the partition containing the Operating System. I think you should not format your system this often. It may affect the life of your hard disk or any other storage media. With formatting my PC every 3 onths routine, I am too concerned about the hard disk life. Also, formatting so frequently must be driving you crazy for installing the OS and other software again and again.

Formatting only one partition reduces excess wear and tear of the Hard Disk and hence increases its life. Another thing, most of the viruses attack the system files of the Operating System. Hence, formatting the OS drive will do the job. Another thing, formatting all the drives will need extra work of taking backup of all important data, then formatting and again putting up the whole data back to the computer..

i think that is not the rite way u format ur pc by only formatting a particular partition.. i think this is not much satisfactory as the virus may enter from one disk into another at the time of formatting. any ways thanks for ur suggestion.. keep respondingg.. byee dude..

I seldom will format my computer as I have quite a lot of large files in my computer. I don't have such a big hard disk to store all of my files. If it's something wrong with the operating system, usually I will just reinstall it and that's all. I love China

Hello contqactsmiley, I think nobody formats hard disk frequently and it should not be needed so often. I am no exception. The system with which I experiment much and perform tests with new softwares and OS-es, needs formatting, now and then. But the one I use for other purposes us rarely formatted. It contains valuable data and frequent back up is not always possible. Happy mylotting

Hello contactsmiley. I have only formated my computer for thrice, when there were severe viruses infecting my computer. Each time when my computer was re-formated, some of the files were deleted to keep the viruses away from my computer. Happy posting, friend.

I have only re-formatted my computer once, after it was proforming so badly and once I did it was back to its old self. It must be a pain to have to re-format every day, you shouldnt need to do it that often.

I have formatted my HDD many times. Once i formatted it as it was needed before installing Solaris and i wanted to re-partition the drive. There were a few other times it was formatted because the Windows got attacked by dangerous virus and the installed anti-virus program could not detect and clean it. Its not good for HDD if formatted many times , as far as i know formatting it frequently reduces its performance.

I never format my computer. I will soon though to make room for the new ext4 file system, but probably not until summer-ish. I thought you hurt your system by formatting it too much? Maybe it's wrong, but that's a thought to keep in mind :P There are so many tools to clean up your system so there shouldn't be any reason to reformat on a daily basis.
