sometimes i found some topics that hard to understand because of the language. maybe my topics also include to those topics. what do you think of these topics? do you get annoyed that makes you won't response to the topics?
i'm curious, maybe that's the reason why my topics never get in to the "top discussion"..

It is a bit annoying yes,but at the same time,I have found there are people from all over the world on this site, and I think that it is good that they are having a go,and trying to improve their english, remember 'practise makes perfect'.I know how hard it would be for me to learn another language:)

I don't really mind, not everyone here uses English as their main language. As long as the topic is interesting, I would certainly make comments. I don't think grammar should be a big deal in Mylot, what is important is people from all around the world are able to express their views, share their thoughts and make friends.

It doesn't annoy me because not everyone on this site is a native English speaker. There are users on MyLot from all over the world. And it is against my MyLot guidelines to use any other language on here besides English. If I come across a discussion that I have difficulty understanding, I try to figure out what they are trying to say. And if I can't figure it out, I ask for some clarification.

I know that not everyone speaks the Queen's English well here on MyLot, but there comes a time when my eyes cross at the horrible usage of the language displayed on here. It's not from those who aren't English speaking first that bugs me, it's those that have been born or at least raised here. But, to each their own.
One of the sites I frequent has a huge mixture of English and non-English people chatting at once. What's really weird, those that aren't English raised "speak" it better than Americans. How lazy are we?
Good topic.

I don't get annoyed by those topics as long as I can understand the content. If I can't understand the content, then I better skip reading those topics. I think mylot members are all over the world so mylot can be a place for them (including me) to improve our writing skills. If I don't understand some words, then I will try to find the description in the dictionary. This will improve my vocabulary as well.

I encounter that most of the time, but I do not get annoyed with it. I accept the fact that members of Mylot are international and with mixed races and languages. It is understood that many have a hard time speaking and writing fluent english or writing a discussion that is grammatically correct. What matters here is that we understand with each other. So, as long as the content is understandable, there's no problem with it.

Not at all.I am not a very good English speaker and writer my self and I don`t pay much attention when any word is wrong or the sentence is wrong.I don`t get annoyed because it`s great to see that people are coming here maybe to practice their English skills and that people are comunicating-doesen`t matter are they using right lanugage or not-at least trying ;).Happy MyLotting!

Well congratulations! You were on the first page when I opened my lot! I know what you mean about the difficulty at times, but it doesn't annoy me at all. I know that a lot of people come here to practice their English writing skills and I think it's great. I wish I could start a discussion in a foreign language as well as some of the people here, including you!

"Top discussions" are usually the discussions that are "hot" - members are paying attention to it by responding to it. But if the english is so bad that people can't understand them, then they can't respond to it right?
However, your english sounds good. So maybe you just never notice it when your response is actually on the Top list.
I don't mind misconstructed english as long as the message is still conveyed. I DO hate text-messaging-type where people do shortcuts and stuff. It's so not cute, very annoying.
Thanks for the response on my discussion!

I am not good in English, but i would try to learn how to use this language. In this site, a lot of people come from other country. So, i could do as i can do. They or i can learn how to write in English, and read in English. Good question Zamakh...have a nice day

Usually they don't annoy me. I'm usually impressed with foreign people knowing English in the first place (yes, I know. Most of us learn it in school, but that doesn't mean that we keep knowing it :P) And I'm just glad that they try rather than... well.. Imagine myLot and posts are international. It would be crazy and not fun at all.
What annoys me more is when people DO speak English but don't use it properly like.. Weird netspeak, abbreviations and TyPiNg LiKe ThIs. Makes me so mad :P

I think people post to topics they relate to. as for me I like to post to everybody if I had the time I would just sit here all day and respond to everyones discussions.
I do not get annoyed by language. Because language should never stop me from
responding.
I responds to things that instrest me. It cn be from a native english speaker or someone who just learned english.

I don't get annoyed, but sometimes it's really slow understanding. But the title compensates. If the title is quite clear, understanding the topic is made easier.

I would agree that topics that are grammatically incorrect are hard to understand, but do not despair. I believe that as long as what you are trying to impart is very interesting to a lot of people, you would make it to the "top discussion." Topics like current events and general information are your best bet. I know some people would make fun of your grammar but do not be affected. We are all entitled to our own opinion.
