What is the best age for the cinema?

We've all done it, gone into the cinema and there a little group of kids already jumping on the seats and shouting with excitement. And we half want to walk back out and see a later showing of the film. What age is best to take kids to the cinema? I think that maybe 10 years old would be best. They know at that age that they can't always run around and shout so they mught be better behaved.

I believe that the behavior of the child falls on the parent. The child acts on how they feel they should act based on how the parent or parents brought them up. I take my kids to the movies every now and then and they don't act up. And they're younger than the age of 10. Not saying my kids have never acted up, though. They have told me they wanted to leave because they didn't like the movie. I just feel that a kid knows what they can get away with. And then there are some kids that don't care what anyone thinks, and a part of them may like the negative attention that they're getting from acting up in the theater. And if it goes so far as to disrupting you enjoying yourself at the movies where you want to get up and leave, maybe you could go ask for your money back, or a ticket to a later show. And if the kid/kids are disrupting you then chances are they're disrupting others, too. Then say something to the management.

These days I wouldn't leave a child at the cinema alone under 12 years of age. If I were the management I would require the parents to attend any one under the age of 12 for the very reason you stated. Just because kids know how to act doesn't always mean that they will especially if other kids are acting up in the way you have described.

I would agree 10 seems like a great age, they are mature enough to know how to behave and not talk during the movie etc, they are also old enough not to interupt by crying or screaming. I guess it would also depend on what type of movie you are going to. I always expect interuptions when I go to a childrens movie.
