i know you know the difference between the two.. conservative are stereotype while liberated people are those maybe radical or conventional one. so which of you belong to those two?? i myself can say on the middle. for me liberation is being open minded and conservatism is being safe and caring.. that is just my view. i would love to hear everybody's points in this one.

I myself am both liberal and conservative. On social issues I am pretty liberal, but economically I am quite conservative. Usually when you try to classify your political orientation you use a diamond, it is much more descriptive of your political views. I, myself, am pretty close to the top of the diamond, but more toward the liberal libertarian edge than the conservative edge. I am a firm believer in individual rights, I guess my political beliefs stem from this.

You describe yourself as economically conservative, but going from your comments in another thread, I would guess you're closer to being a laissez fair capitalist, as opposed to being in favour of governments propping up big businesses etc. In combination with you being socially liberal, this would put you somewhere in libertarian territory. Would that be a fair assessment?

Correct. In a perfect world I would be a laissez faire capitalist but I just don't trust human nature. In a perfect world, nobody would take advantage of people or cheat to earn a living, but there will always be the crooked people and government owes it to the people to ensure that the cheaters can't cheat and have to earn it the fair way like everyone else. I'm big on competition too, so I'd have to say that a perfect government would have to step in to break up monopolies because they hinder competetion and slow development in the industry. Other than those reasons I can't think of any big ways I would want government in the economy so you are 98% correct. Oh yeah and I'd go back to the gold standard.

I think that I am in the middle too. I have an open mind about some things, but then there are other things that I am like, well if we let this happen, where do we draw the line. Like I am for Gay marriage, I think that one of the greatest things is life is to find someone that you want to spend the rest of your life with be it male and male or female and female, just be happy. Who am I to judge? But then I think well, what about bigamist? If we allow gay marriage why not bigamist? Just because they don't fit our norms...I don't know I find myself stradling the fence alot!!

I find the way the question's phrased a bit strange, since there are clearly other options than "conservative" and "liberated". How would you classify anarchists, fascists, greens, technocrats, islamists, communists, monarchists etc?
Personally, I'm a limited state Libertarian (also known as a "classical liberal" or a "minarchist"). I believe that the functions of government should be limited to those concerned with protecting the people in its territory from aggression (so basically, the military, police and courts) with everything else being taken care of by people acting as individuals or in voluntary co-operation with others. Of course that's not a position you could get to from here in one go - in terms of a practical political programme, you'd have to have a series of intermediate steps.
Have you ever taken the World's Smallest Political Quiz? You can find it here:
http://www.theadvocates.org/quizp/index.html
It's maybe a bit too simple, some of the questions could be interpreted in more than one way, but it's handy for identifying your broad political outlook. I tend to score 90/90 libertarian in it (although it was only 80/80 this morning).
