i got home just a few minutes ago when i stumbled upon this folder on my desktop: STRESSBUSTERS. i'm not really stressed out but out of curiosity, i opened the folder and found 2 Word files. i opened the one named "How You Can Live in the Present." It's an article written by Dr. Susan Mendelsohn for eDiets. dr. mendelsohn used eating a pizza as an example for applying the 'art' of 'focusing on the now,' or meditation. through that, i've learned one simple 'rule' to bust stress: BE PRESENT IN THE PRESENT. short and simple. thanks, doc! :)

We waste so much time and energy on the past and future, but all we really have is Now. If we can discipline ourselves to stay present we would be so much healthier, happier, and telexed.

There's a saying that I think comes form the bible. I'm not sure even though I like the quote. Or maybe its from Shakespeare *shrug* "Let the evil of the day be sufficient unto itself."

hi there again, kitttenskysong.. it's in the New Testament. Matthew 6:34.. :) thank God for Biblegateway.com! King James Version: "Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." New King James Version: "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." New Living Translation: "So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today." New International Version: "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." New American Standard Version: "So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Tagalog Version: "Huwag nga kayong mabalisa patungkol sa kinabukasan sapagkat ang kinabukasan ang mababalisa sa kaniyang sarili. Sapat na sa bawat araw ang kasamaan nito." happy myLotting! and i hope you enjoy reading the Bible, too. it's a great book! :)

U have read it, mostly to see what it was about since I'm not from a religious group that believes in said bible. I found it an interesting philosophy, but there were a lot of things in there that I didn't agree with.

Dreamleper, although I haven't been on for awhile, I'm so pleased that you're still on here, posting quality discussions. And thank you for reminding me to always be present. The here and now forever! KISS- keep it simple stupid is what I always tell myself - although I change this much used phrase to silly not liking to insult myself even in humour!

hi there, artemis432.. thank you, too, for letting me know of your appreciation. i am encouraged by your post. however, please note of the "a" after the "e" in "leaper" .. although i used to be a leper of some sort, i am actually at present, a leaper over dreams. here are other meanings for KISS: keep it short and simple.. keep it simple and sweet.. knight in shimmering splendor.. kick it softly sweetheart.. i couldn't think of any more KISSes.. if you come up with more, please let me know. happy myLotting!

I would have to agree with that statement as if we concentrate on the here and now and don't concentrate on the big picture, then a lot of stress would be cut out of the picture.

hi there, terri0824.. yup, you're right. though it does help to take a look at the big picture now and then, it's less stressful to just focus, as what you've said, "on the here and now." happy myLotting!

So basically let the past be the past and the future be the future?
