http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29019618/ they are mad because its a small world ride got updated with cartoon characters which they did so that it would stay fun for little kids.. they brought in the little mermaid, nemo, aladdin etc and everyone is having a fit!! they think it doesnt promote "peace" anymore or something because they took the life like dolls out.. omg!! "Disney says it hopes adding what it calls "new magic" to the 43-year-old attraction will attract even more riders and create new traditions for young families who don't identify with "Small World" as strongly as previous generations." everyone is arguing that its just a ride to sell toys now since the kids will see characters they like.. i went on the old styled one.. i thought it was boring and creepy.. i dont see what the big deal is if its peace being promoted by scary dolls or by nemo.. as long as the message is PEACE!! what do you think?

It's funny, but, at first impact, the news shocked me. "What? why would they change it?", I thought. But then I started thinking it over and I found out that I got shocked because the ride was part of my childhood memories. Yeah, it was boring, but it reminded me of my mom and my dad showing me the world for the very first time, or something like that. Then I realized, the world is changing. Technology is changing too. And young people won't share those old memories of mine, they'd just see the old fashioned dolls and wonder what's about. So, maybe, people angry with the change are NOT thnking about kids, but about themselves. Maybe it's a bit arrogant and selfish. Because you can give that peace message without being oldfashioned ;) Anyway, it'd be cool if they had at Disneyland a retro section with all those rides kids of today won't like, but old people would enjoy because of the memories :)

OH MY GAAAAAWD ITS ABOUT TIME!!! it's about time they updated that old dinosaur. i was born and raised in Anaheim California, 3 miles from Disneyland and i've been to Disneyland dozens of times. yeah, It's A Small World is a must see attraction.........ONCE OR TWICE maybe. those perma-smile singing devil dolls are so outdated i'm surprised they've lasted this long. bout time Disney is doing a makeover which i'm sure will make for a ride more in tuned with a more modern Disney vision. c'mon people.....we have new generations of children to entertain now..... black & white and Beaver Cleaver just doesn't cut it anymore. now if they could just do something about that song that gets stuck in your head for weeks if you hear it once. "it's a small world after all, it's a small world after all, it's a small world after all, it's a small small world......it's a small world after all, it's a small world after............................" AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Some people have too much time on their hands and no life. They need to get a life and quit being upset over stupid stuff and worry about the economy and people getting jobs!

People are upset because It's A Small World is a classic attraction. Back when the parks were built Walt Disney's dream was to build a park where adults and children could escape reality. It wasn't all about the Disney characters. While the characters are needed in the parks they don't need to be in every attraction for people to enjoy them. It's like putting Mickey Mouse in the Hall of Presidents!

I HATED that ride as a child. I had nightmares for days after riding that stupid ride. I never wanted to watch Child's Play or any other Chucky movie because it would remind me of It's a Small World. I live an hour south of Orlando so for several years my parents would take me to Disney for my birthday. The only ride I didn't want to ride (but my mom made me ride it anyway) was Small World. I had always wished they would replace the dolls or change the ride somehow. I'm glad they are changing it. I don't think adding characters to a ride will make any difference. The message is still peace and acceptance. Now, if only they would do something about that annoying song...

There is no pleasing every one. I too went on the old style one and find it boring. It is not creepy. But boring. I almost fell asleep during the ride. Hmm... they have updated this ride? I wouldn't mind going on the new small world tour again if the updated ride is more fun.

Yeah... but even if they do change the song, the theme of the ride is world peace. And if the message of the ride is still world peace, what is wrong with rap? Well, I have not seen the new ride. So I cannot really say if it is good or not. Till I get to see the difference, it is only speculations we can make here.

I heard Walt Disney World's Terror of Tower has also undergone a major update which makes the ride even more thrilling, most visitors didn't even notice the change. But yes, I realised that Disney does modify its rides from time to time.

I so wanted to take an assault rifle to that ride. Unfortunantly when my family went it was 110 degrees in Florida & the only air conditioned rides were It's A Small World & Pirates Of the Caribian. Since my sister was along we had to take turns chosing where to cool off at. I STILL have that freakin song playing in my head any time anyone mentions it!!!

I could careless. I'll never set one foot in the place. Disney should change its name and stop dragging Walt Disneys name through the mud.

Ive been to WDW twice, once in 2nd grade (Im 23 now) and in June of this year. I went on my honeymoon and my husband had never been there before that. We walked past the ride and I told him I wasnt going on it cause it creeped me out when I was little but because it was so hot I gave in and went on it to cool off. I dont remember exactly how it looked back in the 90's when I was little but I didnt think the dolls looked as creepy now as they use to and its not cause Im older now either cause things like that still creep me out.

I don't know where I was, but I thought they had already done this. Then when I went to Disneyworld and took my 4 year old nephew on it, I didn't see any of the characters. Maybe I saw a trial run. From what I remember the changes are very subtle. They are worked into existing scenes and unless you are looking for them, they are easily missed. One is Alladin riding on one of the magic carpets that are already part of one of the displays. Another was Lilo do the hula in that part of the ride. Really, if you blink.... The other thing that I find amazing is that people think that Disney is doing something to increase marketing? Have they actually been to one of their parks in the last 15 years? Now don't get me wrong, I love Disneyworld and go there atleast once a year, but from t-shirts to stuffed toys to bags and dolls and hats and meals you pay up to 30 dollars just to get extra time with an employee in a costume...do i need to go on? Their characters make them money. But do i think my little 4 year old nephew is going to say he just has to have a Lilo doll because she was in It's a Small World? Please, lighten up. The message of the ride is still the same. And let's remember, Disneyworld when it was designed by Walt, many of the rides and attractions were designed from shows that he was putting on TV. He wanted people tom come to his park and feel like they were becomming a part of the magic.

Well you know some people seem to have nothing better to do than complain. It if promotes peace then just leave it alone and quit complaining. They don't have to ride the ride. No one is going to make them. The newer characters are know better by todays children, so leave them alone and let them have fun.

Peace is a great thing. I see no reason why you wouldn't update it for today's child. I think you can keep the feel or meaning while making it apply to the world we have today. But people seem to want to complain so I'm not surprised by this.

It's Disney. It was meant to expand, that's what Walt wanted. I think if more people allowed it to evolve into his magical dream, they wouldn't be as angry.

At first I was a little upset, as that's one of the rides that hasn't really changed since my childhood. Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is no longer at WDW, Captain Jack is now in Pirates of the Caribbean. This ride was at the world's fair, and the fact that it's been changed seemed like blasphamy. Then I just got used to the idea. It's not the end of the world or anything, and the original is still at WDW.
