For the last, well I don't know how long its been, but its been a LONG time, I have struggled and scraped and barely been able to make ends meet. I filed my taxes and was absolutely sure that it was going to be taken by a 25 year old student loan, but tonight, I couldn't sleep, once again and I got up and looked at my account to see if my pay had been deposited and there it was, over $5,000. I simply can't believe it. For once, my bills will be completely paid. The regular ones that is, I can pay my rent not just for this month, but in advance and still have something left over. I feel so grateful right now. Finally, all the hard work and the stress has paid off. I know its probably not the right way to look at things, but I actually think my faith has been renewed. I'm not sure how to make this into a discussion. I just had to share my good luck with my friends. I know its tough for all of us right now and my prayer is that all of you find some relief somewhere too. Thanks for reading.

That is so nice... like manna from heaven... it is good that the money you desperately need came and now you will be able to sleep well... since it is like a big weight has been lifted from you...
I hope more blessing comes your way...

Thank you so much. I really hope it doesn't sound like I am boasting. I didn't intend this discussion in that manner. I truly have struggled and I guess I wanted to share that good things come to those who wait. You know what I mean.

Way to go I am so happy for you, some where I guess they missed it or maybe time has run out for them to collect. Times are hard and we all pray that something will come about to help us in some way. I know what you mean by just getting by, we live on a very small fixed income and usually by the middle of the month we are broke, there is no wasy to stretch it, without giving up the cable and the internet and any other small pleasures that we have, we are both disabled and these are the only 2 pleasures we have in life.
Good luck with your finances and spend it wisely and put a bit back for when times are hard again.

Twice my apartment complex has served me with paperwork to take me to court for nonpayment of rent and I was able to come up with it at the very last minute. Just the other day, I just knew that my son was going to be sitting in the dark while I was at work, because the utilities had been shut off. Its a horrible feeling to have to live that way, so yes, I will spend it wisely. I have already paid my utilities, phone, internet and cell phones in full and tomorrow morning I will go down to the rental office and pay several months in advance. For once paying bills will be a positive thing and not "I'm praying that the payment doesn't bounce"kind of thing. Its just the chance to get back on track. Thanks for your well wishes.

I am still waiting for my big break,
I have worked hard all my life and just one point short of living under a bridge myself, it has been like this forever,
now my health is gone and I can't work, I am on disability and work all day and night on the computer trying to make a bit of money.
I got the biggest scare awhile back when I thought that I would be without a computer but I got my son's old one now.
But all in all 2009 is going to be a better year for me money wise, as compared to the hell I have been living in since 2005.
I got disability now and it is pbetter than what I had before.

I know you do and I feel a little awkward sharing my good fortune when I know that others are struggling. But one thing about mylot is that we tend to share both our ups and downs. It would be pretty depressing if all we ever had was bad news. This small windfall though was something that I've never had before and I feel like I have worked so hard for it. I go to work everyday and continue to put one foot in front of the other, no matter how hard it gets some times. And you also have to understand that not that long ago my son and I actually were living under a bridge through no fault of our own. Those were difficult times to say the least. Its an experience we will never forget, but never want to repeat. I feel like I have overpaid my dues and it was time that God acknowledged that.

congratulations! that means that you have to take things on a stride and not to worry too much coz it will only attract umwanted things. start your day always with a smile, slow down, stop if you must, don't cramp everything in one day, spread it in a month, pray before eating and before you sleep, say thank you and do not think of your worries because it will carry over to your dreams.

Congratulations kb, that is wonderful. Getting your money back like that will have to feeling jovial. And since you filed your taxes if that stimulus payment goes through you'll get some money on that. They said this time it goes only to those that file for their taxes.

Maybe they did include them in the returns this time.I don't know how they were doing it, just that the only way people are getting them this time is if they file.

Thanks, I hadn't heard anything about stimulus checks. I thought I read they were included in your refund, but I could be entirely wrong.

Am so happy for you!~ Now you can have some spare to spend with your boys? HahaThat's great news!~ As for paying in advance, do you actually need to do that? Or maybe if you're discipline enough you can put it in the bank to earn interest then only pay up when you need to or you can even use it to do a little business, I mean the fast turn over time type? I mean that's what I would do but if that's not your area then I'd suggest that you just keep it in the bank for the meantime? Just a thought anyway

I guess I'm just worried that somehow theres been a glitch and they are going to realize their mistake and take the money after all. LOL. Disciplined me? HA! Not hardly, although I'm trying to be as responsible as I can be. I wanted to pay things a bit in advance though, because you never know when something could happen that might catch you short one payday. There is always rumors about the store I am working for closing. Not that it would happen immediately if that were to be true, but I'd rather be a little ahead of the game, so that I don't have to shoulder the stress I normally feel.

That is great. We are paying bills also. We should have a little left. We need a new recliner as ours is broke and my husband has tried to fix it but it just doesn't stay fixed. Enjoy and try to get caught up.

I am very happy for you. That is good news.
Some people say that you make your own luck.
If you work hard towards what you want... you will get lucky and you will get it.
However... that don't mean that you can get anything you want by working hard.
You need to remain realistic.

Oh Aussie, don't I know it. I have worked hard and for what, I think to myself, but I perservere because thats what we do. However, a token reaffirmation can do us the world of good. It will feel good to just once know what it feels like to have things paid and not stress out on the possibilities if they aren't. I can't remember what that feels like and I"m looking forward to finding out. I am going to pay my rent up for the next 5 months. That in itself will no doubt take an enormous amount of stress away. And you know what else? The fact that I did just that and didn't squander my money couldn't possibly feel too bad either.

Wooohooo party time... haha not, just kidding.
It is a relief isn't it to have that extra cash available, and know that you're going to be ok for at least the next couple of months or for a while. A great time for it especially since your other son is coming to visit :) Praise the Lord.
When my hubby did his taxes it looks like he was going to get a little bit back, when he added my W2 details it now looks like we owe a couple of hundred. Weird considering I only worked mostly during the holiday season and only part time. I hope he's entered everything right. LOL :)

I actually sent my son $300 through Western Union. I thought it would be a nice surprise for him and help lessen his burden just a little bit too. He was SO happy. It made me feel so good to do it. I made sure I did something for all of my children. I bought my second youngest an XBox 360 to entertain him while I am at work and I have told my daughter that I will buy her a round trip airline ticket if her dad will let her come here to visit during spring break.

That's great and such a morale booster for YOU and the kids eh? My oldest always has a hard time over Christmas, so I pay his January rent for him aside from regular Xmas gifts to give him a break. It makes such a difference to him at the beginning of a New Year. We are moms. We do what we can when we can, and I know our kids appreciate it. Just make sure you keep the airline money aside until it's needed! LOL Me? I'd forget and end up paying bills with it instead. But then, I'm often such a dufus at remembering things even when it comes to the kids! My youngest says I'm 'lame'! LOL

I hadn't thought about a new computer until I got this money. Then I went straight out and bought one. I spent a little more money than what I had planned on, but thats ok, I got a better deal. I figure buying a computer is an investment. Its something that is going to last a long time, not something you go out and buy every other week and I'm real happy with what I bought. This was the opportunity that I never expected to have happen.

That is so cool. I've had a student loan (and payments) since 2003 and i actually ASKED them to take my income tax and apply it to the loans every year because it gets paid off faster. I'm down from a 20000 dollar student loan to about 6000 left in 6 years. I'll be pretty happy when I'm done paying it and i get to keep my monthly payments AND my income tax.
