My husband lost a whole month wages with getting ill. He's home now able to walk but still has to go to the city this month to have further tests because they don't know what's wrong. It's looking like we will be loosing our holiday trailer and we're feeling very bad about it. That becomes very embarrassing especially for people our age. Have you ever had anything repossessed?

I had co-sign for a car for my daughter who was supposed to make the payments. She quit doing that and as I did not need 2 cars it got repossessed and royally screwed up my excellent credit!

How could the Credit Union not give you the extra week to pay. In these dreadful financial times they should have a some understanding. Now if they repo they will be struck with it as people are not buying

What we don't do for our kids hey? We live in a world today that if you want anything you need to go a little in debt. What gets me is we are still able to make the payments they are very low, but the payment was due the 5th and we're waiting for the short term disability for the month my husband couldn't work. The payment was due yesterday and we were told our money should be here next week but the Credit Union said no, so I said come and get it them.

isn't that tacky. u can;t get people to bend an inch but i bet if they owed you they'd have a sad story. it is a shame people only think of that almighty dollor.i wouldn't have had anything if i hadn't gone in debt for it.try not to worry about it. there may be a good reason the good lord knows about that u don't. good luck.

I am so sorry for both of you, that is so sad. Hopefully you can figure something out. As for the question, no nothing has been repossed, but that because we never bought anything big or expensive like that. I wonder if you husband simply had something like a bad case of flu and got weaker and weaker the longer he was in bed. It seems like everyone down here has been sick, lots of vomiting. I hope and pray that things improve for all of you and the house apes too, hehe. I love that expression....House Apes.

I am so sorry this is going to happen to you. Anyway you can talk to the people who have the loan and explain what happened? Maybe they will give you a break and let you pay an extra month at the end of the loan and skip this last month. Guess it's worth a try. I've never had anything repossesed. I can certainly understand the embarrassment you might have to face.

I'm glad he's home Grandma but things don't sound very good...in fact they sound bloody awful. It would be awful to lose your trailer but I guess hubby's health is more important...if only they knew what was wrong. Maybe there is something else you are not using that you could sell to cover the cost opf the repayment for the trailer. I know things will work out for you. hugs.

I also meant to say that yes, I have had the misfortune to have something repossessed. It was around the time of my divorce. My husband and I had taken over my parents family business. My husband had run it into the ground and it was about to go into receivership. Our cars were company cars which were on lease from the bank. I wrote my husband a cheque to pay out the balance on my car and he was supposed to forward it to the bank as he did most all the banking. My husband cashed the cheque and I lost the car.

The scary thing is hubby is home and even went back to work light duty, now we find out the job ends next week everyone is laid off. Hubby still doesn't feel well and yet all test results are in and they can't find the problem. They know by the blood count something is wrong but what? Now he has to see a different doctor. As far as the trailer goes I'm so not impressed. What gets me is we are still able to make the payments they are very low, but the payment was due the 5th and we're waiting for the short term disability for the month my husband couldn't work. The payment was due two days ago and we were told our money should be here next week but the Credit Union said no, so I said come and get it them.

Yes i have when my husband & i were very young he was out of work and we were unable to pay for our car & it was repossessed..It made us feel awful, and i do understand how you feel..All i can say is things happen to us that we are unable to control, like your husbands illness, and it is not your fault so don;t feel embarrassed ....It is not your fault..I am sure we all have had something like this happen...I have even had to pawn things in my earlier years to get money...As far as people our age???? bad luck and illness and job lose happens to the young and older...Thats the downside of life...But you will come out of this as we all do and your mountain top will come again.Keep your chin up grandma...

no I never had anything repossessed but I don't have credit either. I lost my good credit rating years ago when I was a single mom and end up on welfare.

No I never had anything repossessed
hopefully it will never happen to us
we have been careful with our spending for 3 years now
hubby is now laid off and sometimes get called to work when they need
he is looking for a side job
but if things don't get better I think he will know soon enough what to do so that the house and car don't get repossessed

we had a truck repoed 2 years ago and the bad thing is that we are still paying on it. That sucks. My husband is so mad, but there is nothing that we can do about it.

Years ago, when I returned to the desert from Washington state. The bank of Seattle had said on the phone that they would give us a break on making the payment, time to start collecting unemployment while I looked for a job down here. A few days later I woke up and no car! They had repossessed the thing during the middle of the night. It is embarrassing, no matter the age

Hey Grandmaof2~ I'm glad to hear that your husband is up and
walking so I guess he is finally feeling a bit better again.
I am sorry to hear about your trailer. I have never had anything
repossessed because I have never had anything of value to begin
with. I hope that maybe you will be able to work things out.
But, the most important thing is that your husband is doing
better so that is the most important thing!

I have had things repossessed many times and you are right it is embarrassing. Have you tried to work something out with the company? Maybe they would take reduced payments until you got back on your feet or maybe even give you some time without making payments. If there is nothing for it but that it has to go back it would be less embarrassing if you volunteered to let them come and get it. Sometimes when you do that it doesn't impact your credit rating nearly as bad either.

I have not had anything repossessed, but then I never had that much to begin with. Have you explained to the bank about the trouble you are having with your husband being ill? Usually banks or loan offices have insurance to cover these situations. I think you should look into this.

Sadly, yes we had a truck repoed. My husband had a business that wasn't making the kind of money it should have and when I tried to talk to the finance department they refused to help so they took back the truck.

I thought my car was going to be if I didn't get more work. I was going to go and try to sell it back to the car dealership. My husband told me to hang on, we might get more work or money. Luckily, I did get more work, but I'm worried about this summer. I have two months with no substitute teaching. So I haven't, but that doesn't mean I won't very soon.

Sorry to hear about your dilemma, it's happening all over for one reason or the other, illness, loss of jobs. I am glad your husband is feeling better. I do not have anything that can be repossessed, but if I did the way things are going in my life, it would.
I have been out of work for seven months, and my husband lost his job last week. We are so behind it is unreal.
I guess the closest I can get to repossess, is being evicted. I was not able to pay my rent this month, taking back an apartment is basically the same.

I haven't tried yet but I'm about to return my laptop since I can't pay for it anymore. I just paid for the downpayment and paid the first month amortization. I feel sad about it but I have thought about it many times whether to keep it or return it and I have made my decision already. Better to return it myself before they will take it away from me, it would be very emabarrasing.
