Are you one of the ones who takes pain medicine at the slightest little pain? Are you the kind who rather try other options?
Well I am the one who rather try to deal with the pain or try other options. Mainly because i know what real pain is. I have been in labor and thats real pain. The only reason i ask is i have real painful monthly symptoms and i know you know what i mean. Well everyone always tells me to take pain medicine. Thats the problem though. I dont think relying on pain medicine all the time is a good thing. So i dont take pain medicine. I try to deal with it with nothing. The reason why i do this is because no over the counter medicine works for me. I have to take presciption pain medicine. And even those dont work that long. A 600 mg ibuproven may work one to two hours thats it. So i give my body a break so it doesn't depend on all those medications or drugs.
What about you?
Sorry so long.

You are doing the right thing by not taking any medications unless it is becomes necessary. My mom had migrane many years ago for which she was taking a single tablet of paracetamol. She used it so frequently now she requires more than one tablet to rid of a headache. The dosage will only increase if used more often. So its best if use it very less.
The worst part is everybody wants to play doctor. Over the counter medication is definitely not safe. You should always take medications with a qualified doctor's prescription.
One of my colleague keeps saying her family doctor gives her an injection for every visit. God alone knows whether the doctor is qualified or a quack. I have adviced her to change her doctor but it falls on deaf ears and she is type to take medicine even for a tiny scrap. She is going to face loads of health problems in future. Now I have stopped advicing her as its of no use. All those people who take medicine without refering a doctor please take care because you are putting your health at risk.

Kudos to you for not taking any pain meds, that one time of the month. For me, that time is pretty much the only time I will take any pain meds, and it usually takes a lot of them to alliviate the pain even a bit, but at that point anything that helps just a bit is appreciated.
I also live with constant leg pain because of a back condition, I have learned to live with it, without medicine, but sometimes it just gets too bad. Especially at night when I am trying to sleep, the pain will stop me from sleeping and I am forced to take pain meds. I wish I didn't have to take pain meds but I believe that if the pain is stopping you from enjoying your life, something must be done to fix it, even with things that may not be entirely healthy for you.

I try not to take medicines till I can bear the pain. I don't want my body to become allopathy dependant and try to overcome the pain with my will power. However, if the pain crosses the tolerance limit or I feel like getting into bad state, I immediately rush to a doctor.
The jist is, the more natural my body is (away from human intrusion in the form of medicines), the more healthy I feel. And I love being natural.

I almost never take pain medications. I had crown lengthing dental surgery and only took two of the 20 pills prescribed and one of those was before the surgery because the doctor required it. So I had all that wasted money on the rest of the prescription. The last tooth I had filled, I didn't even have a shot of novacaine. I don't even have aspirin in the house that is any where near being within its use by date.

I very rarely take medicines for pain relief, they do nothing but aleviate symptoms anyway so if the pain can be coped with I think it's better to do just that.
Pain is the body's way of telling You that something may be wrong, long term use of painkillers can mask this and what was thought to be a simple headache could be the start of something major, I would rather do without and visit a doctor if it persists or becomes worse.

I try to avoid all medications, and only use them when I absolutely have to. When I DO need them, I find they work well
