ClixSense has been my favorite, long-running PTC that I've recommended to everyone in the U.S. (you get more ads in the U.S. by upgrading, and it's well worth it).
Anyway, I logged in this morning and noticed that where it says you get paid for referrals, it only said .01 for free members, and I assumed it was a typo, because it was always .10 per referral. I figure that's where they made their money, since they don't continue to pay you a percentage, you just get .10 the one time (unless they upgrade).
I decided to look at the referral page and yep, sure enough, it lists it as only .01 there too, so it's apparently not a typo.
I'm saddened to see this happen, so I won't be promoting it any longer. If I have friends that are looking for a good program I'll tell them about it since clicking as an upgraded member will still get you paid, but I will no longer actively recruit - it's not worth it.
Did you notice that ClixSense slipped this one by us?

I hadn't paid a lot of attention to it. I have a recruiting page that I put all of my programs on so I just promote that one regardless of what each individual site offers. So if a site changes on me in the middle, it doesn't affect me much. I use Clixsense on occasion but it definitely isn't one of my favorites. And even though I've upgraded at some sites, I tend to steer away from any type of "upgrades", especially if that is the only way you can earn from a site.

I don't actively recruit for referrals so I had no idea clixsense did this. I'd rather just make the money on my own and not worry about trying to get referrals.

I had seen this. I was shocked at figured as you that it was a typo as well. I guess they are wanting everyone to upgrade so we will get paid more.

I did notice this and frankly wasn't all that surprised. Standard members DID formerly get the $.10 bonus for referrals, but as is Clixsense's tendency, they've given all the nice privileges to their upgraded members. I don't deny that you can make money there by upgrading, but it's really not one of my favorite sites. I do wonder if this move won't hurt them a bit -- there's much less of a reason for standard members to promote them now -- but probably their biggest promoters were upgraded members already.

well sites which calls you for money to upgrade your account actually never pays you esasily especially when you are a general member. If they are their to earn why will they pay you its logic thats it dear......

Yeah, I noticed that, too, but I rarely get referrals, anyway, so no big loss for me.

I think things are getting tough everywhere and it is filtering through to the Internet, and many of my biz programs seem to be changing their reward system. I think that if people are losing confidence in the world economy off-line it is bound to happen that they are going to hold on to their cash on-line as well. Let's hope that there will soon be an upturn. It is up to each of us to think positive and be optimistic - it is quite contagious and will spread to all people again. :-) Derek

I did notice this also. I don't have too many referrals for the program anyway, so I don't care too much. I still like the program to an extent, but my favorites are Hits4Pay and Deals N Cash where the payout is a little higher but you get 50% of your referrals income (on two levels for Hits4Pay). If you want to sign up, I can private message you the links if you're curious. :-)
