Have you ever sold your items for extra cash?

After losing my job I started going through everything I had. I found out that I had a lot of things that I didn't need to keep around. So I started by advertising my items on a free site. I was able to raise some money this way. Which helped us from complete disaster. This was before I found these neat ways to make money online. So now I don't have to sell anything. I just have to spend a lot of time on the computer. But anyways if you need some fast cash its always a good idea to look around your home and see if you have something you don't need anymore. Have you sold any of your possessions online to raise money?

I would love to know how to get this free website that i can sell online. I used to sell at a local flea market but no longer have a car to transport stuff out there. I have listed and sold on ebay but if you have seller account they charge $4.99 for that, plus insertion fees, all reguardless if you sell anything or not. Yes, re-listing is free but the initial insertion is still payable. I have found books people didnt want anymore and laid beside the dumpster. I have listed and sold on amazon. Still they also have fees. In the back room i have a pallet full of stuff to sell and dont know something better than ebay or amazon. So please let me know about this free website for selling stuff.

I have sold every instrument that I have owned to raise some money. Usually just to pay the rent or something like that. I do have pictures though of all my instruments and that at least keeps me somewhat happy. Just the memory of it. Then I always manage to find some more money that I can purchase new equipment and start all over again. Crocket.

Sorry you had to sell your instruments. But its true you can always buy new ones in the future. Its better to pay the rent and have a roof over your head then an instrument.

I have tried not to do this. I got hit with Ebay for a $92.00 bill and I only made $10.00. So not worth the effort. Now, I have my own website and I make dolls to sell. The cost varies depending on where you live and the costs of S&H obviously. The good thing is I don't charge tax. I've joined tons of sites like this one, but only use a couple of them now. I still try to sell stuff, but am more into creating and selling now.

Making your own website to sell your items would probably be the best bet. Just as long as you can get yourself ranked high in the search engines.

wow. verry nice. Good idea. Until now , it wasn`t necessary to do this, but in theese times, who knows? I`m a little scared of all what`s happening. Companies fires the employers, they have kids, and so on.. It`s a hard time.. and maybe this it`s necessary , because we all waste a lot of things, and we don`t know how to apreciate even a little thing... we deserve it! you are making online the money for daily living? Great. Maybe you can teach me too :D

This is always a good option when the funds are low and in this economy I am sure more people will be doing it.

I have given it serious thought, but I have never done it. I have friends who sell things online, though. But I have had quite a few yard sales! I like instant gratification!

I love garage sales to. I have had a few also try selling at a local flea market. They usually will charge a small fee but there's so many people there you will usually make it back.

Yes - several times. I love brand-name clothing, so I'll usually take a trip to my local consignment shop once a month and sell whatever I have & don't want or need. I also have recently taken a liking to selling my used BOOKS & TEXTBOOKS at my the local used bookshop.

Yep, I've done this ebay and I've done this through my blog. I had to raise large amounts of money several times in the past four and half years (custody battles, saving our house, ect.) and this option has been extremely helpful in our fund raising efforts.

I figure when you need a large some of money its the best way to raise it. I don't like doing loans so this works for me.

I would never sell anything of sentimental value either. Only things that I bought never something that was given.

Yes I have, also on eBay, and I think I will be doing that again soon, but more so to clean out my closet he he. I may try craigslist or kijiji just to avoid the seller fees though.

Sure, I sold some things a few times on Ebay. But at the time I was new to the whole internet thing or I would have tried craigslist first. I have found that you can get a great response from listing stuff on craigslist, and the best thing is it doesn't cost anything.

I no longer use EBay either. I stick to Craigslist if I need to sell something. I have a great response from them.

We have sold many items online for cash. We have also given clothes and other items to thrift stores for donations. I just left a bag of clothes in front of my house this morning to help a church. If I can reduce the clutter in my house and help someone else or help myself by getting a cash infusion I will.

Fairly often on Ebay, but only stuff I know will sell, the rest go to charity as it's for the space more than the money. The money is a bonus to spend on the kids or something for the house etc. I hope your circumstances improve soon x

I haven't tried so far selling my possession but there are times it came acrossed my mind when i am short of cash. Luckily i haven't done it yet as i always finds way to solve my financial problem without selling some things i had. I just don't know in the future, maybe it is very possible for me to do that when finances is hard to achieve. Now i am working hard online just to earn income that somehow support my daily needs.

Yes, i've done this a lot of times before.. i sold some of my gadgets (mobile phones, Gameboy Micro, Sony PSP and Ipod) and yes, some of my signature bags too. Selling my favorite things was really hard on my part but i've got no choice but to let go of them.. We've got no extra cash to pay the rent that time so we've decided to sell them on ebay.. But God is really good, he replaced the things i've lost with more.. (A new samsung mobile phone, Pink Nintendo DS Lite and Canon Ixus camera) actually, am not only blessed with material things but with love, care and support from my loved ones..

yeah i've done it a couple of times. i have tried selling my old clothes to my friends. clothes that were once my favorites but too bad, they don't fit me now as i have grown. i got this idea from other friends too. they sell their old clothing and stuff as it would be better than keeping them in the closet. and not only that, you could get to have extra cash from your old stuff. isn't that just great?

I have never sold anything online, my aunt did a yard sale a couple years back and I put a bunch of stuff, about a whole table worth and made like 65.00 that weekend, that was great. I dont have much but we knew at the time we had a pretty nice size apartment and we were moving into a house, so I wanted to get some stuff out before we started packing that winter... now, this year I have a 5 yr old son and 1 yr old daughter, and another one of my aunts is going to have a yard sale, so I am taking all the baby stuff and going to sell that this spring. I hope to do well money wise, and not only that, make more room in our house....LOL great discussion!!
