Everyone is experiencing the economic crisis nowadays. One way to save during this time is that to bring along packed lunch to work or to school. From where I work at the cheapest lunch is at Php 50 or more that a dollar if converted and that is really costly from where I am at. If the minimum amount that I will be spending for lunch is multiplied to the number of days when I am at work, Php 50 X 24, that would amount to Php 1200. This would be a big amount for savings every month. How about you, do you bring pack lunch to work too? Or you would rather buy from work.

no, since i am earning enough for lunch and for gas , i can afford to buy myself lunch during work. i understand most people do bring their lunch nowadays because of the economic crises and that would save them a lot of money to bring home.

Yes, you can imagine how much money could be saved with packed lunches! In my city, eating lunches at where I work is expensive. It ranges from $4-$6 per meal due to increase cost of living. I've been thinking of preparing my own lunch and start looking at some healthy recipes. If I pack my lunch, I could save about $300 a month, that's considerable savings!

Hi kenchi! I'm not working, as for my Husband, his office is in the same building where we lived. So he goes home everyday for lunch and yes that saved us some and if he's out somewhere for meeting he just buy some sandwich and I think the price of sandwiches here is not too bad.

that i nice to hear that your husband is working on the same building where you live in. He doesn't only save for lunch but he also save with his transportation expenses. I guess you two are having a good saving with this and help you with your monthly expenses. Thanks for sharing and have a great and wonderful day! Happy Mylotting!!!

I should bring packed lunch to school.. My allowance for a day is Php 350 and it's not always that there's cheap decent food. I rarely pack for lunch.. What I do now is carry a small jug with me which is around 600mL capacity, I think.
I should but I'd rather buy. In school, it's hard to find a place where I can stay and eat and I prefer my food warm.. Looking for a place to eat eats up my break time.. If I bring lunch to school, it'd be extra baggage for me, what with my heavy books and other stuff. My back's already breaking. Lol.

Yes, packing lunch saves a lot of money.. i used to bring packed lunch when i was in college.. my mom would always prepare sumptuous meal for me.. i don't have a job right now due to my health condition so i spend most of my time cooking great meals for the family.. with the global recessions, we should learn how to be practical in so many ways..
- bring packed lunch to your school and office
- save energy. Turn off the lights and unplug all the appliances when not in use
- save gas. take public vehicle(jeepney, bus, train) instead
- save money.
- buy things you need not the things you want.
- prepare home cooked meals. avoid ordering food at fast food chains
- take good care of your health. we can't afford to be hospitalized anymore.

Hello gracie, thanks for sharing the others ways on how to save money these days especially with the economic crisis that we all experience. Hospitalization can be very expensive and if you are just an average citizen with an average income it would be too costly being hospitalized. Not only that the hospital charges too much but the medicines are expensive as well. thanks for sharing.

I don't bring a lunch when I go to school, I already carry enough stuff and do not have a locker/car to store anything in, so whatever I take in the morning I have to carry with me all day. I do bring a small snack to get me through the day, and if that is not enough I will buy a meal at the caffeteria, which really isn't too expense, but would be if I bought it every day.

Well i understand your case. I have been through that when I was still in school especially way back when i was in grade school and high school where I have a lot in tow when i go to and from school. But i would still carry my lunch with me for i can eat as much as I like and I can save a lot for it. the money that I have i would usually buy it with my other needs for i am always full with what is on my packed lunch.

Hello There! How are you?
When I was in High School, I always have a lunch packed in my bag because I hate going to our canteen since it was always crowded. Our canteen was just small at that time, before I get to buy what I want for lunch, our lunch break is done. Lolz. Even when working, sometimes my mother would make me some lunch when she is at home. I should say that it really helps me save my money because I don’t have to buy a lunch outside or from fast foods or any restaurants. Also, I prefer homemade meals or lunch cooked by my Mom because she is really a good cook.
Thank you for the discussion. Have a great day and Happy Mylotting! Cheers~!

I haven't started working yet so I don't really know if I'll pack my own lunch or just buy. Sometimes preparing lunch takes up a lot of time too, so buying might be more economical. It'll depend on how much I spend vs how much I earn. If I can still save a lot of money even when I buy lunch then it might be better to buy sometimes and pack lunch when I have the time to make it. I can use the extra time to sleep or prepare for a presentation right..?

thanks for sharing. It is very easy to cook if you are cooking for the entire family but when you are alone you usually depend on from the fast food chains.

I have our housemaid pack sandwiches for me four days of the week. During Fridays though, I buy lunch on campus because I bring too many things that bringing food's just a burden for me. Fridays I have twelve hours of school, I have PE, so I'm harassed. The other hour days though I have classes until 1:15pm so if I can't handle my hunger I have food in my bag.

I would prefer packed lunch because it saves a lot of money. When I was still in high school, I would always bring a packed lunch. I always get a full stomach after eating my lunch because their are a lot of food in my lunch. My friends would even sometimes ask for some rice from my lunch because the rice that they bought was not enough. Hehehehe... It is always good to bring packed lunch.

That is true, having a pack lunch to work or school is really economical and it helps when you are saving. I bet your friends are really happy since you got a lot of food in your box and they can as from you all the time.

I haven't been in a position where I've had to consider packing my lunch for quite some time but now that I am, I'm trying to figure out what exactly I can pack in my bag so I can make my 30 minutes fruitful, as in I'll have enough to eat so I'm not starving by the time I leave at 5:30. I have the chance to kind of eat at work, but eating with 12 children in the room is pretty impossible to me. I'd rather pack, eat what I want and not have to deal with kids.

I used to pack for lunch while I worked at a bank. I don't like ordering out because it's expensive or if I chose those homemade ones, they put it hot in the plastic and that can't be good. These days though I go for lunch, which is sooo much better than packing.

Packing for lunch is a good way to save money and to keep fit as well. Food served in our cafeterine is usually oily, and eating is given portion is often too much. But when you chose packing for lunch, take care not to take the left overs, but put some dishes aside, so that they are not condaminated and properly balanced with nutritions needed. And place the package in refrig if prepared the day before.

I would suggest that you bring a packed munch because aside from saving a lot of money, you will also have a very full stomach. When I was still in high school, I would always bring a packed lunch because it will save me a lot of money and make my stomach very full because their are so many food. Hhehehe... My friends would sometimes ask for extra rice from me because the rice that they bought was not enough for them. Hehehehe...

I don't pack food for lunch, but if I could I would. At my school, the cheapest lunch you can get is at Php65. That's not including drinks and dessert (both of which I can't eat without). That's a lot for students. I'm just usually too busy in the morning to prepare. But I do plan on bringing water and dessert (those in small packs) to school starting next week to save.
