I watched "The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button not long ago and to my surprise I loved it. It is the best film I have seen in ages; very well made, great acting and, another surprise, so believable! I did not think I would like it when I first heard about it. I did not think they could make such a story realistic and convincing. I was very pleasantly surprised. Have you watched a movie you thought you would not like but loved it? Please share...

My parents and aunt ended up watching Twilight and they expected it to be awful. But they ended up loving it! I have not seen it but there is a lot of hype about it and the young stars. One to watch!

I'm sure there are plenty, but the one that comes to mind is Back to the Future. I saw it at a friend's house when we were teens. I really wasn't up to watching a movie, but my friend claimed it was really good, so I ended up watching it and I enjoyed it very much.
Now that I think about it, Booty Call was another I thought I wouldn't like. My husband rented it some years ago after some female employee recommended it to him. LOL It turned out to be hilarious. My husband and I couldn't stop laughing!
I'm not a real movie goer, but I've been wanting to see The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. I think I'll rent it over the weekend, if I remember to do so, that is. LOL
Happy mylotting!

Somehow even I am not that curious to watch this movie so far.Your discussion has made me to look for the DVD.Thanks Paula.
And of course there were some surprisingly good movies I happened to watch without expecting them to be so.There is one I watched last month on HBO.I just could not get the name of the movie from my head.It is about a magician.A great one.I just enjoyed it.

Hi there paula!
There have been instances in the past wherein I watched a movie I thought I would not like but loved it. Most of these instances were those I had to watch with some friends. I can't recall all the titles but one of these movies was Robinhood: Prince of Thieves (Kevin Costner). Another is Day After Tomorrow which I watched with my boyfriend. I thought I would not like such movie, but I did.

Well one such movie which come to mind right now is Khosla Ka Ghosla... translated in english the title means the nest of Mr. Khosla. It is a very very small budget movie with only small time Tv actors in it and only one character artist from bollywood movies so i wasnt much interested in watching it but when i got the cd and watched it wow it was so so funny i cudnt stop laughing.. it was such a nice funny movie and quite an interesting plot on land mafia in delhi

Forgetting Sarah Marshall came out it seems like forever ago. I told myself that this movie did not look like it was going to be good at all. Yet, Netflix had it as a suggestion and it flipping HILARIOUS! I couldn't stop laughing and I rarely say that for any movie.

As a matter of fact I have watched something and I didn't think I would lie it, but the Movie was really good, one thing about the title, it could fool you. you can go by the title.

If I don't think I will enjoy the movie I do not view it at all. So in reality I do not give myself the opportunity to like it at all. LOL I am not really big on movies anyway though. I would rather read a good book.

There are two that come to mind, The Incredibles and Die Hard. Let's take die Hard first. It came out and I saw the trailers but wasn't interested in seeing it . But I tried it when it was on HBO and loved it. And for The Incredibles,I thought it was a animated, for the whole family fare. Whenever they say it is for the whole family, I Know it isn't for me so I stay away. But it came on cable and I tried it and loved it. Unlike most kiddie films, this one was smart, well written. Now I have my own copy.

I have had this happen many times in the past. As well as the opposite (thinking I would love it and just hating it). I do watch movies I am not sure about especially if other family members or friends want to see them. My son really wanted to see Pacifier and I thought it looked just dumb. I ended up really enjoying it and getting a kick out of it. Thanks for the info on Benjamin Button. I thought it looked good, but wasn't sure I wanted to really see it.

I really enjoy watching movies and some of my favorites are ones that I actually put off seeing the first time because I didn't think I would like them. I work on the internet a lot and I like to watch movies while I am working so I watch quite a few.
I especially like new releases.
I accidentally ran across "An Unfinished Life" with Jennifer Lopez, Robert Redford and Morgan Freeman and it has become one of my favorites. Also "Righteous Kill" was a lot better than I thought. One more that I had to watch twice back to back the first time was "Outlander"

The only movie that I can even think of that I didn't think I would care for, but ended up really liking with the movie Napoleon Dynamite. When I had seen the commercials, it just seemed like it was too cheesy. I had seen it one night at my aunt's house since my cousins had the movie, and I thought it was really funny. Comedy movies are my favorite, and I was really surprised at how funny Napoleon Dynamite was to me. It is definitely one that I can watch more than once, unlike most movies.

So many good writers and directors can do this kind of movies. At first you will be boring watching it and after minutes have pass by. Whoa!!! interesting... This movie is good ^_^. I have watched so many movies like this boring at first and some are series. You will be hooked watching it.

Yes I have, many of them. I am not a very movie person coz these days I find the entire exercise very pocket unfriendly…I mostly give the plexes a miss other than for some kids’ movie which my son ‘insists’ on having the big screen experience. However, on Fridays and Saturdays I do turn on the TV at night to see what’s being aired. And like you, I have caught some recent movies, which I really did enjoy a lot. Simple homely stuff or very-well told stories and like. Very recently I watched a very ordinary movie about a handicapped boy who rises above circumstances to get his place on the national team. The unpretentious cast, the simple storyline, the very believable everyday circumstances, the understated dialogues…everything made the move worth watching.

Yah, it happened to me a lot of times. When I watched the movies, and they are good, tendency is I fell in love with it. And crave to watch it all over again. Usually, I go for story and acting. I careless who acts. If the story is superb and the acting as well, then I will surely watch it again.

I watched American History X. I don't recommend it if you are easily offended or if watching a racially charged movie bothers you. The language is VERY bad. I don't usually like dramas, nor do I like movies that are very controversial, but a friend of ours recommended seeing it and even lent it to us. It was not the feel good movie of the year, but it was a great, eye opener of a movie. It was one of those movies where you sit there and tell yourself, man this is really awful, but at the same time you're rivited because it has such a powerful message.
