Hi.Sorry I am new here.when you read a long discussion should you put a plus on other people responds that you read or is that for the person that started the discussion to do.I have been putting pluses on the person that started the discussion but I notice,the rating box on my screen of other peoples who have commented.

If you see a rating box, then you are free to use it wherever it is. We are encouraged to read all the responses and rate them. Now get to work because I really hate my yellow color! LOL

LOL, I was just kidding. But the way the stars change color, that is go up or down in number, depends on users either hitting the + sign which sends the rating up, or the - sign which sends the rating down. However, there is a lot of leeway between numbers before the color changes. Sort of like this: Number one is a rating between 1/l00 and 15/l00, Number 2 is a rating of 16/100 to 25/l00 and so on. Right now I have an '8' star and my rating is 8l/100. You have an '8' star and your rating is 82/100. The rating span is about 76/100 to 84/100 for the number '8'. At about 85/100 the number on the star should go up to a '9' and the star color will change to red. Do you see what I mean? Every time a user gets a plus by another user, it affects the algorythim that calibrates the stars. It probably takes about 100 pluses to raise your rating one point out of a hundred. So if I get a hundred pluses my rating should go up to 82/100. As you can see, it takes a LOT of pluses to actually affect the ratings enough to change the star color!

i under stand that, you expland it well the first time.i was talking about your number and color not mine. i when back and puts some "+" on some thing for you.there in no way i should have a higher number then you.

It seems like we are in the same boat. I don't know anything about that either. I have not been rating anything. I didn't know that I was supposed to..Have a good day.

I put mark the + on everyone that answered in a good way no matter who it is and on all people that I liked what they say. If I don't like it or it didn't make any sense which is hardly ever, I don't mark anything. I won't use the - or the !.

It's for everybody that reads the discussion. This contributes to your mylot "reputation". If 10 people read a discussion starter of comment and they all + it, that person gets 10 +"votes". I think that's what your star number is based on. It's not a big deal and you don't have to do it.
