i know it would take awhile to be seated when we decide to dine out, unless we made reservations. I know it will save me a little money if I will just cook the meal myself. I love to cook and I think my husband will appreciate it.
Im planning to make ricotta-spinach filled pasta shells, lemon-basil grilled chicken and a cherry-chocolate bundt cake. I checked out and saw that almost 90% of the ingredients I need are already in my pantry & fridge! How about you, are you dining out or are you cooking? if you are cooking, then what's gonna be you valentines day menu?

I'm cooking, because we can't afford to eat out, but I have no idea what I'm making for dinner. I do plan on making some heart shaped sugar cookies, and decorating them. I'll probably have the kids help too. I've already bought the frosting, cookie cutters, and sugar crystals and other sugary decorations for the cookies, I just need the ingredients to make the cookie. I also plan on making a cherry pound cake as well.
But as far as the dinner menu goes, I haven't decided, and it probably won't be anything overly special. I make great meals every week, this past week we had ribs. This week I'm making deep fried ravioli, another night I'm doing a lemonade baked chicken. So meals like that aren't overly special for us.

she is a lucky girl to have a boyfriend who loves her! Though I would suggest that on other occasions, try planning out for her for a change. Put a lot of thought on your plan and I am sure she will like it!

Hi.. I and my boyfriend originally planned to dine out and spend the day by ourselves, maybe rent a DVD or go to moviehouse before we end the day. Supposedly we will dine out in a Chinese Restaurant where his favorite soup is serve. Yet last Saturday while we had his Birthday party with some of our friends and family, we agreed to have a party at a friend's place. We had so much fun from his birthday party that the crowd want to continue the fun on Valentines Day. Its a great idea and kinnda different from the past Valentines Day that we celebrated just by ourselves.

We are retired and so we can go out during the lunch hour, when the lunch meals are available, and usually a it cheaper.
We'll probably go out for lunch that sunday after Valentine's Day, because my hubby is having cataract surgery on the 12th.
I will probably fix a meatloaf for Valentine's Evening as he likes that, and mine isn't made with tomatoe(s) or sauce.
I did get him a special card, and put $20 in it for him. Maybe we'll rent a movie too.
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY EVERYONE

Well, i'm not cooking this time.. because we are going to an out of town trip.. We'll be going to Boracay. Boracay is our favorite summer destination in the Philippines.. It's one of the best white sand beaches in the country. They offer great accommodations ranging from budget to five star hotel, fine dining, bars/restaurants(that are open till the wee hours of morning), bargain shops(that offer souvenirs like Boracay T-shirts, surfer shorts, swimwear, keychains and many more).. of course, your trip will never be complete without trying out their fun-filled water activities(parasailing, scuba diving, island hopping, etc)..

that sounds fun! when we were planning our honeymoon years ago, we were choosing between boracay and bohol...we ended up going to bohol ( its no nice out there, so no regrets at all) so i havent been to boracay. when we go visit my parents in manila, we intend to check out boracay.
the below freezing temperature here just makes me miss Philippines like crazy!

funny, when we were just boyfriend-girlfriend, we dont make a fuss during valentines day too...i actually cant remember when we started celebrating it. still, its nothing like Christmas, birthdays or anniversaries when we really go out of our way to surprise each other and buy fine gifts. On valentines day, I usually give him a nice greeting card and a funny boxers shorts,Lol!
happy mylotting!

My husband is actually working on Valentine's day and days surrounding that, I think we'd have to celebrate it after and yes we are dining out. Why would I cook? It's one of the rare occasions in which someone will actually prepare a meal for me.

We will eat in. I am getting his favorite cut of steak, ribeye. Then I am making twice baked potatoes, and asparagus. Then after dinner we may go out for a few drinks and a little dancing. I think trying to get a table on V-day is crazy and not to mention all of the extra money.

I agree. Aside from being costly, almost majority of restaurants are fully booked and if you dont have a reservation, then you will be surely waiting to be seated. that made me decide, im cooking instead....
your menu sounds great...ribeye steak and twice baked potatoes, yum!

hello lipsticknladdles
i also plan on cooking Valentine's Day dinner at home this year. and by the way your dinner that you plan on fixing sounds very delicious. i am planning on cooking homemade pepper steak with rice along with a side dish of some kind of broccoli dish. either broccoli casserole or broccoli salad. my hubby likes both of those side dishes. and i think that the broccoli salad is easier to prepare than the broccoli casserole. and you are lucky that you have almost all of the ingredients that you need to prepare your dinner. and i haven't figured out yet what that i will make for dessert on Saturday night.
take care and have a beautiful evening.

I'll be cooking. I have absolutely no idea what I will be cooking, but I know that I will be cooking. Neiher my husband nor I care to go out to eat on a night that we know will be busy and crowded at most places. We's rather enjoy a quiet evening at home, cuddled on the couch watching movies.

Hi,
I am delighted to note Ur V.day's Plan & menu.I am sure for Ur Husband it will be a pleasant surprise and pleasure to appetite too.
As far I am concerned,I am going to celebrate it in an old-age-home in Kolkata.Giving a rose-bud to a mother of 60+,whom even her own children have forgotten- may add some PINK,I presume.Menu to add may be a Special Paneer-makhani with daily( boring?)menu, may add some SMILE more.I am sure coming V.Day will carry a DIFFERENT experience for me.

That sounds delicious! I won't go out because past experiences on Valentine's Day have not been good ones. Restaurants are full, running late, the service is awful and the food is not as good as other times. They are too rushed. I might do some take-out though, and order something more like a late lunch, so we can eat early and maybe rent a movie.

I cook every single night for dinner so cooking at home probably doesn't sound special to him anymore. I would like to dine out and have a real date date with him hehe but I asked him if we are going to do anything differnent on this Valentines' Day. His answer straightforwardly turned me down... So we will probably stay at home and eat ramen noodle...
Anywya, I wish you have a sweet Valtntine's Day :-)

I am acctually working at a restaurant on Valentines Day, and I look forward to it! It is one of the busier nights of te year, adn to be honest, there are usually Specials that cost extra! I enjoy making other people's Valentines Days special, too. It's fun to see people on cute dates! If I has a chance to do something like that with my Hubby I would, but times are tight! I'd rather work and make the money!

- Warm your heart Pancakes
- Good for your heart Eggs Benedict
- Sweet loving Pomegranate Mimosas
Then I have planned to make chocolate covered strawberries together so we can have them for dessert after I make my special dinner.
