Do you have definite goals in life?-what I mean to ask is if you have some specific aspirations-like buying a house, a car, going on an i nternational cruise?
To be the top man in the firm you are working in/to achieve a particular post before your retirement, anything that you care to mention?
As far as I am concerned , I simply would like to live a life of peace, always be in touch with my subject in some way or the other, take good care of my family to the fullest of my ability and see my husband and son very happy..I have no desires to possess anything like a house or a car or go abroad or any other ambitions.
I would be grateful if I am able to read till my last and be mobile and have all my faculties right and my family safe and sound. This is my ambition.
Please do share your thoughts.

We are very much alike and you a re not old Rose.Your sons are still not married and you have not even become a grandma .I can very well understand your stand on health and I definitely feel the same.I had said that all my faculties ahould be good and I need to be mobile you see.
But, with this I also feel that I need some exclusive activity of mine and I would like to be in touch with my subject.I need to occupy myself well, so that i won't be after others craving attention and disturbing others.

True.We would become tired mentally once we start thinking that we are old.
My fatherinlaw is a very nice person and he is 86 years old.Suddenly he feels really old and he is getting more and more frail.I only wish he regains his good spirits. This is once again proportionate to the physical capability I guess or vice versa. It happens both ways too.

I am a man of little ambition. When I was a school going child i always took fancy on becoming a college teacher that I achieved finally and now two things or say goal are there completion of Phd degree and to send my son to Oxford University. This because I had a dream not a set goal of course that I should graduate from Oxford. Now I want to see my wish fulfillment through my son.
Rest is ok. No hurt burn for more money and fame. If they come through my good deeds that is welcome.

That is great and I can very well understand what you say.I belong to the age where I firmly believed in being a homemaker, but time made me choose a successful freelancing career path of mine.I devoted all my attention to my only son and he is a God given gifted child who has achieved his potential as far as studies go.I participated fully in his development and in fact went to the extent of helping him with his notes in an unrelated subject like law in his Chartered accountant examination.I have enough money to take care of my needs and now I am middle aged and would like to be a freelance writer.I read and reread books of my choice and am thankful for it.
Wish you all the best in completing your PH.D degree.Incidentally, what is your subject? And what is your son studying at present?

Yes I have a definite goals in life. I categorized my goals according to my life roles such as being a son, a christian, an employee, and others to mention.
In some part of my goals we are in common. Just like to take good care of my family and other intangible goals. But to some instance we still need material things to support or as means to our end or goals in life. Just like having a nice house for your family to live make sure the live comfortable. I guess money or material things would work best in their purpose. We couldn't build a building without money or deposit love to the bank.
How I wish you've tried reading the following book, that I highly recommend to my friends:
1. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
2. The Secret
3. The Millionaire Mind

Of course we cannot live on thin air and needs must be fulfilled and money is needed.Owning a house or not is a matter of individual preference, job in life etc..,I was living in a sort of partly owned house for long and now I am in a rented good place .Only the shifting part is a hassle ;otherwise, to me whether i live in my Own house or rented house , really does not matter. And even regarding the shifting, I believe in not accumulating things though I do have a weakness for my clothes[sarees] which I hope to get over some time or the other and books [which I hope would always be there to add to the occupation of space]

Hi kalav56! I have the same goals as you have. I do admit that there was a time in my life that I have very specific goals which were all in the realm of materialism; however, as I grew older priorities have changed and so were my goals and desires. Although I would really want to be financially secured now and in the future but health and love within the family is my heart's ultimate desire.
Take care and have a great day!

I think i do not have a definite long-term goal for my life, but always have a lot inmmediate aims, about my life, my work and others.
One philosopher have once said: when climbing, do not forget to enjoy the beautiful landscape.
So,living a happy and healthy life is the matter of the utmost importance...

Hello THere! Good Morning!
All of us has definite goals in life I believe and I have mine too. My ultimate goal is to have a stable job that will allow me to save money for my future and family as well then after that, I like to start a family of my own with my man and to have atleast two kids that we can support and give better future. However, I know that is far to happen with the family thing because I am still helping my mom and siblings to finish their studies but I hope that I am getting there. WIth the stable job, I am hoping to get it this year, early this year. I believe that all of us must have goals and dreams to achieve to keep us going in our life... so that we will feel that we have purpose in our life.
Thank you for the discussions. Happy Mylotting and Have a great day ahead. Cheers!

I can honestly say that I have definite goals in life but whether I stick to them is another thing! I have come up with the idea that I will monitor my progress every month on the first of the month. I have a few ideas about things that I would love to achieve but it's always I question of money, I just don't have enough of the stuff! It sounds like you have clear ideas of what you want and that is good. I think as always, the important thing is that you are happy in life. Are you content? If so, that's great, you are on the right path to satisfaction. Andrew

Hi,
i don't really set goals bacause i feel that i have to concentrate more and more time and energy will be spent in achieving it. ansd what if after doing all that i can to achieve that i fail! well can't even think of that either . it would be more painful than setting and working on it...i live life as it comes to me. if i need something then only i try for it. otherwise i am as happy as i was without it. in other words i am not that materilastic in my life...:)

Well, my ambition in life has always been career oriented. I always wanted to be an engineer and in the next six months I will graduate from a reputed Engineering college here in India so part of my ambition is fulfilled.
Next, I want to get into a good private sector company to help my parents financially and become financially independent myself. This will take some effort from my side so I will be working hard for that now onwards.
Next, I also aspire to become an internationally rated chess player, with a rating of over 2000. I am on course for that as well.
Hopefully, I will achieve these ambitions too.

Some yeah. Sure. I want to live out of playing music. But i always come back to that i need to use music to unleash my creative parts. I think it's important to have creative parts. But the most important thing in my opinion is love.
If you can't love or even don't like different parts and aspects of life.
Then we have a problem.

I have had definite goals in life for as long as I can remember. I can remember being in elementary school and writing goals for all I wanted to do during summer break from school. I've lived a life of seeing goals practiced and attained and now, while in my 40s I can not imagine living without some sort of goal.
I set small and large goals, short term and long term. My greatest goal achievement is being able to stay home and raise my children(child, as it turns out) until they are school age. I'm still a year short of seeing that one to completion but all signs show that I will attain it.

I had many goals and dreams in my life but they can all be cut short so quickly and taken from us in a flash...I still think its great to be a disciplined person with goals, but my goal now is to live happily every day that I am on earth, love unconditionally, smile daily, help others where and when I can. My goal now is to live life happily and not stress over pushing myself to do something that may never materialize.

having the goals is not the sufficient. .full filling the goal is impotent thing . .first of all we should ve a view on our abilities and then we have to select the goal. .after electing the goal we should check the which we are taking to fulll fail the goals time by time . .
then if our goals r misleading then v should take proper steps to ac acchive that goal. .
then definetly our goals will be archived
we should not accept wonders at the beginning stage it self v should have patience then he result definitely come at any time. .

Mine is to be a full-time housewife, and a really good one. I want to take care of my family, make delicious food, make my home a lovely one. I can also organize a group, then all the housewives in my community can get together exchanging experience about how to do the housework better. We will support each other, share happiness and bad news. We will also try to figure out what little things we can do to make little money. I want to teach my children to play basketball. There will be so much interesting things to do .

You seem to be a rare person in this age when very few young girls can boldly say that they want to be good housewives, and make delicious food for the family etc..,This has become a slightly outdated thing in many of our educated circles in our country.
You also have defintie plans as to how you can have a social life with all women and also using your time productively.Great! All the Best!

I have a lot of goals and dreams in my life. Some of them I reached already and some of them I'm trying to reach. I would like to have a good car a nice house but those are not my biggest dreams. My biggest dream or goal in my life is to live life nice and just like I want to live it and don't have to go through to much troubles.
