I don't know how many of you may have her on your friend's list but she was the second friend of mine when I first joined up with MyLot. She, that is susieq is kind of one of the "old timers" here and hasn't been very active for many months, yet I've been hearing from her now and then via private emails. Many months ago, her husband died after a very long, lingering illness. I guess she wanted a new start in life and decided to leave her Florida home and had gotten an RV so she could virtually travel all over the country. She even started a travel blog about her adventures that she calls "Travels With Sam"----Sammy being her tiger-striped kitty, and is her avatar for here. I've been reading her blog and it's been so cute since she adds comments from Sammy's viewpoint. I just got a sad email from her that somehow Sammy, her cat is missing. She told me in an email she's always been very careful whenever she opens the door of her RV, but somehow he must have made a beeline out the door and she didn't notice him missing until she came back later on. She told me she's searched and backtracked twice all over the area where she's traveling (now in and around the Ft. Davis, Texas area) but hasn't found him. I just feel so bad for her. She mentioned how she feels that she's lost her husband all over again, since Sammy used to keep her husband company the last few months of his life. I emailed her back and suggested to give it another shot and try and backtrack and search again. I don't know if it were me, I'd hire the national guard, army, navy, air force to find my two kitties if they somehow got lost...LOL Anyway...could you send prayers to my friend that by some miracle she finds her cat? I know how I would feel, and I'm betting I know how any of you would feel if you somehow lost your beloved furbaby...Have any of you lost a pet, and by a miracle you found them again. Send her your prayers okay...?? The picture here is her avatar picture of Sammy

Oh dear. I hope that she finds her cat soon. I know how it feels to lose a pet. We have a cat just like that at home and we lost her for like a month last year. We tried searching for her just about everywhere. My son was particularly sad about losing the cat. Fortunately, we found her just about a block from our house. Apparently, she got lost on her way back home.

My heart is going out to susieq. I adore cats and I have two which I treat like my children. I too would love to read susieq's blog. When I was a child we used to travel with our Siamese. We lived in Italy and we travelled to France and Switzerland with cat in tow. I take one of my cats out in the car and I notice people look at me as though I am strange; if it was a dog I wouldn't get a second look! I feel I can relate to susieq and I feel heartbroken for her. I wonder if she stays put for a while whether Sammy will make his way back? Can she enlist some help? A ranger, I don't know, someone, anyone? I wish I could help; I will definitely say a prayer for her and Sammy. Please keep us posted and may I have the link to susieq's blog? I would appreciate it and I pray Sammy turns up real soon.

I just emailed you with the link to her blog. I really do hope she can somehow find Sammy...in one entry of her blog she has a picture of Sammy. I've emailed her back with all kinds of ideas, like going back to the last place she may have had him and staying put awhile...maybe if he sees the RV he'll recognize it and come back

In general... cats like to play hide and seek... and will not come out when you call them. They will only return when they are hungry. Cats don't usually get lost and have a fantastic sense of direction. If I leave my cat in the middle of nowhere... he will wait for me to return. But if he decides to go for a walk... I won't find him. I thought I had lost him dozen of times over the last 10 years. I have walked miles to find that cat... and I have never found him a single time. Several times he has been away for 48 hours. He does not travel during day time either... to prevent himself from becoming the prey of another animal. He hides during the day... and turns up at my door at 11PM. The biggest problem your friend has... is not knowing where she lost it. She needs to go back to the exact spot where the cat left her... and he will be there... hiding somewhere close by.

I've emailed her back telling her to go back again to the area she thinks where she may have lost him...haven't heard back from her yet I've had some scares with my cats in the past. You're right, cats don't like to be bothered or found unless they want to. So often I can't find one of my cats, and think OH NO..did one get out? I mean there aren't too many places for my cats to really hide here. I'm looking all over the place and then maybe suddenly think to look under a bureau....bingo..how that darn cat can fit under there I'll never know....and of course the cat simply looks at me like I'm nuts..like "What's your problem?" LOL

Hi pye, First of all, it's good to see you back here where you belong. I can't remember if I've 'spoken' to you since your return, as I haven't been on here much myself lately. I'm so sorry to hear about susieq's 'Sammy.' What a horrible thing to have happened. If it were me, like you, I'd move heaven and earth to get my kitty back. I can remember the many cats we had, when I was a kid. They were always let outside, and there were those that would go missing, some to never return again. We did have a few that managed to survive, and find their way back home. It was always such a happy occasion! I will definitely pray for susieq and 'Sammy.' I so hope that he comes back to her. The grief over a lost or deceased 'furbaby' is so painful, as I am still dealing with this on a daily basis. Take care. Hugs

Thank you for your prayers for susieq and her Sammy...I sure hope by a miracle she can find him...she did a short email back to me to tell me he does have one of those microchips...so there just might be a possibility there. Yes, I know how you're grieving about your little furbaby...

She's not on my friend's list. I actually had to go back and look being alot of my friends haven't been active in almost a year. I really feel for susieq. First her husband and now her cat. I can just imagine what she is going through now. I just sent up several prayers for Sammy to be safe and for them to be reunited again and soon.

Remember when Lightning disappeared on me and I was franic about wondering where he was? About having a feeling he went off to die somewhere and how horrible I felt when I couldn't be there for him. Believe me, I know very well what Susie is feeling now and prayed hard her and Sammy are reunited again and that he is very much alive and safe.

As I learned when Monica was lost for several hours, tell susieq that she needs to pray to her angels too. I did when Monica was lost and she was returned to me within minutes. Susieq needs to clear her mind of all the panic and terror and pray. I know it's hard, but it really worked for me. I will pray for Sammy's return home, and I will also send prayers to St. Francis of Assisi. I hope Sammy is found soon.

Thank you for your prayers Loverbear. I emailed her again late last night...I wanted to ask her if Sammy has one of those microchip things and he does...I also suggested she try to backtrack AGAIN...and maybe get in touch with any shelters that might be in the area as maybe they picked up a cat...in the meantime through the wonders of the internet I found two animal shelters in the area that Sammy might have last been at..and emailed them..gave them all the info and included my friend's email address..glad to hear Monica came back to you

She might also go back to where she was parked and check for culverts, drainage things etc. It was in our paper where a lady had lost her cat and kept coming back to the campground and found the cat in a culvert. Also check and see if there are any animal rescue groups in the area, and also check if the radio stations broadcast for lost pets. Another question I have is, was there any thunder and lightening storms there? I know how much it scares the begeebers out of animals. I have cut and pasted my "Monica story" from another response. I know how bad Suzieq is feeling because I went through all kinds of terror with Monica being lost for several hours. From the post :Do You Believe in Miracles I believe in miracles, but I learned to ask my angels to help me with the more serious problems. A good example is just after my Rottweiler had to be put down, I went to see some mini Dachshund puppies. I fell in love with them, but couldn't afford them. I told the breeder what happened to cause me to have to put my Rottweiler to sleep. The woman went in her house and cried for my loss. I got a call from her a couple of days later asking me to stop by. I went there and there were two Dachshunds in an exercise pen. I fell for them immediately. The woman asked if I liked them and I of course said yes. I added that I couldn't afford them...she informed me that she was giving them to me. Now comes the miracle part of the story. Monica, the little girl Dachshund, wasn't too keen on paying attention to me. I usually waited until I got them home to let them out of the car to go to the bathroom. But my BF insisted that I should let them out and pointed to an empty field. So, I pulled into the driveway and got the dogs out. The male was good at coming to you when you called his name, but Monica found something to check out and ran off. We spent two hours searching for her. I was terrified that she would get run over because there was three really busy streets that were next to the field. I wasn't about to leave without her, and soon the neighborhood was helping me look. I was in the middle of the field in tears when it occurred to me to pray to my angels to help. The whole area for 200 feet was totally barren of weeds, structures or any growth. I was standing facing the east looking at one particular spot. One second nothing was there and the next second Monica appeared out of thin air (kind of like the materialization on Star Trek). Then, like someone was carrying her about a foot above ground, she came at me. From that day on she has been at my side and never wanders too far off, and comes instantly when she is called. Like one of my angels told her that I really needed her. When I told the breeder, she told me that Monica's registered name was "Monica, Touched by an Angel." I decided to check my mail one last time before I went to bed. I am not sure what is causing the problems, if it is the buildup on one of my medications or if I picked up some sort of virus, but I left class early last night, came home and was in bed by 10:30 p.m. I slept until 11:55 a.m. this morning...and I could have slept more if the dogs didn't need to go out. Hopefully tomorrow night I'll feel good enough to do some posting...L & H

I will certainly say a prayer for her and Sammy. I don't have a pet but my daughter does. She has a dog a Siberian Husky. She the dog would get loose and run away. She did this once and I was working the second shift at the time that is from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm. I don't live with my daughter, she called me at work and told me she the dog had gotten away again. And she was tired of chasing after her and she would have to stay lost until the next day. Well when I got off work at 11:00 that night I went through my daughters neighborhood looking for her. I didn't see her anywhere so the next day thinking that the dog might have come home sometime that night and they just didn't have time to call me. I went over to her house, having a key and let myself in and set off the alarm and didn't know how to turn it off. I just stood in the doorway when the police, ambulance, and the firetruck arrived. I had to call my daughter on her job and ask her how to turn that thing off. The dog had not come home that night. Animal Control had found her first, they notified my daughter and she got the dog back, wasn't charged if she gave a donation.

The charge was for an animal running loose. All dogs should be on a leash and with its owner. Not running loose in the community.

I don't know SusieQ but I will certainly include her in my prayers. I'm a cat lover as well and when my cat passed away two years ago, it was losing like a member of the family. My dear husband is seriously ill and I know how lost and all alone Susieq must feel. I'd love to read her blog. Can you tell me where I can read it?

Sorry, to hear about the loss of Susieq's husband, but glad to hear that she is enjoying herself traveling now. I will keep Sammy's safe return in my prayers, I can imagine she is devastated. A couple of years ago, my husband insisted that we take one of our cats with us on a camping trip. I did not want Jake to go, but my husband said Jakie would have a great time. Jake, hated the whole experience. first of all he did not like riding in the truck, and when we got to the campsite, he was afraid of the noises and the strange surroundings. Jake, stay in our tent most of the time, he wouldn't eat, drink or preen himself. Our godson was with us, and one night him and my husband had a fight, my godson was five at the time. He wanted to go home, so my husband was going to take him home, it was about a two hour drive. I told my husband that I wanted to go home too, the flies were really bad that year. When we got in the truck, I told my husband that he might as well bring Jake home too. My husband was reluctant at first, then angrily he got Jake and put the cage into the truck. We were silent as we were traveling, and maybe thirty five minutes into our drive, my husband looked in the back of the truck. "WHERE'S JAKE" he said, I turned around and the cage was empty. I completely lost it, I was hysterical, and my husband was taking everything out of the truck looking for Jake. My husband made a U turn and headed back to the campsite. I was on the floor of the truck, because I couldn't bear to see my kitty on the road, as road kill. My husband must have been driving 90 miles an hours. To make a long story shorter, we asked everyone when we got to the site if they had seen a cat, no one saw him. we got back to our site, my husband had the headlights still on, and out of the woods, was the most beautiful site I saw. Jakie's eyes illuminating from the headlights. We grabbed him, and held each other and Jakie and just cried and thanked God. thank God, Jakie escaped from the cage before we reached the highway, and was able to find his way back to the campsite. I really pray and hope that Sammy returns, and that your friend will be able to find him. Please keep us posted.
