Annoying expressions that people say

I'm sure we all have experienced people who come out with really annoying expressions. One that used to really irritate me was 'cheer up, it might never happen'. I think every time anyone has ever said that to me was when I wasn't in least bit glum, and I cringe whenever I hear it. Also you know that whenever somebody says that, they have usually got many other equally annoying expressions ready to come out with! Have you got any expressions that annoy you?

I hate most acronyms people use. Like "PDA," "TMI" and any internet acronyms people use in real conversation. Like when someone talking to me on the phone says "BRB" or I make a joke and someone says "LoL"

I haven't noticed people doing that , probably because most people I know are older?

People actual say "LOL"?? I use that all the time online, but would never say it out loud. That is just bizarre.

some of the ones that are annoying to me are: when it's cold out side and you put on a coat, you always have someone that will say "you must be cold" when they say that I'll be thinking, no now if I pulled by coat back off then I'd be cold. Other expressions that annoy me are the ones that some people use now like, talk to the hand, and what ever.

LOL! I hate that too. The office I worked at was always cold, and if I put my jacket on, one guy would always ask me if I was cold. I told him, "No, I'm not cold, I have my jacket on".

That is a pretty dumb thing to say isn't it, and it you turn round and say 'well I would be if I did'nt have a coat on' it would sound really sarcastic. You can't win with that one.

I hate it when people say "so I turns and says" Why weren't you facing that way anyway? And also when they use "at the end of the day" more than once. Or "gitter done", that one was used up the second time Larry the Cable Guy said it!

I used to know someone who was always saying 'at the end of the day', and the other thing he repeated constantly was 'in a manner of speaking'.

Oh I hate "at the end of the day", as well. It is on my list of annoying business phrases, because I used to hear it at work all the time. It is just one of those useless phrases.

Normally when you hear someone shouting that, it is specifically to draw attention to themselves. I just think 'oh there is a complete idiot'!

Some of the things that annoy me that people say would be.. Oh ok. They ask me a question, I give a good response or they ask me something really serious and you poor your heart out and all they got to say is oh ok. Or another would be one my mother in law says to me.. She'll call and ask what i've been doing. I am a stay at home mom, so i'm on the go with a 18 month old daughter, and house work, I'll tell her what i've been doing and she'll say "oh that's all you got to do?" Just drives me insane. There's alot more but I'll end up getting cranky, and don't need that..

I suppose it's a bit like saying 'how are you' when you don't really want to know.

When people give me the 'cheer up it might never happen...' I reply with 'You just did' I find 'y'know' or 'd'ya know what I mean?'; 'to cut a long story short...'; ' to be perfectly honest with you...' irritating. Another one that gets me is, 'You've had your hair cut....' well, duh, I think I probably already know this!! People get quite narky when I pull a face of total shock and say 'Bl**dy hell!! When did that happen... who stole my hair?!?' I remember a woman saying it to me & then going on to ask where I'd had it done. She asked if the place was any good....'Apparently not!'

It's a hot day and you are sweating in the sun while waiting for you child to come out of school and someone comes along and says with an equally irritating smile, "Hot enough for ya?" Your cat has just been run over and you have lost your purse and a kind soul comes out with, "Don't worry it could be worse!" and don't you hate "Hello how are you?" as they look and walk away! Or picture this you are changing a tyre and someone comments,” What are you doing?" Thanks for starting this discussion had to get that out of my system. I can think of many more but I won't keep you any longer and 'cheer up, it might never happen'(LOL) just joking, honestly! Now there's another irritating saying...

there are lots of expressions that I find annoying but what hates me the most is when most people say "Oh my G*d!"...could they just say it "OMG!" instead or "oh my goodness or gosh!" I know some would react to this but there's a reason why I'm annoyed at this expression...simply because they overused the name of God in vain and it's like they don't revere His name, it's as if they don't know His sovereighnty...well, that's just me...I don't like that expression.

I think sometimes it's so much part of the language you grow up with, you just don't think about it, or even know you're saying it!

Yes, I have one... "HAVE A NICE DAY"..... Don't you just hate it when people say that when you are having an absolutely crappy day? Who are they and what if you dont want to have a nice day? Now you feel obligated to have a nice day, even if your day is sucking really bad...

Oh! Yes, there are many annoying expressions I encounter everyday. I have this colleague who is really "stupid" when it comes to understanding instructions. I already explained many times and then she will ask again. If I get irritated, she will say "Just asking to make sure". I hate it. I wish she will say, Just asking because I am stupid, because it is the truth. Until now, I am trying to be nice to her but I can't really do it. It's hard to be hypocrite. Well, I just wish she isn't older than me so I would say how stupid she is.
