there is good reason to believe it started independently in 4 locals - Nile, Tigrus/Eurphaties, Gangies and the various valleys in China
the west, obviously, knows the first 2 best because they affected them the most, with some influx from India, but China was more indepentently "inventing" itself than the other 3.
Wheat base grasses grow in the area, just like maize stock still grows in Mexico and potato stock in the Andes. Rice probably came to the west from India - and probably orginally culivated in China - that might be a bit harder to prove since there are various wild rice (not the stuff called commercially "wild rice") that grows in various places around the world.

I believe that it all started in Asia. You can trace from the historical artifacts that Asia is so rich in culture.

There is still so much to learn about the past of the world. The more they dig the more they discover how we as man proved to be very innovative and surviving through the human or our mother earth's disaster. China has so many proof in their past that they are always on the lead.

I love to study the history of our country as well as that of world history. But I have to say that your country is a great one as well. Thank you for the discussion. Take care.

I use to watch about China over the History Channel. I learned that there are so many inventions China did for us to enjoy now. China has many great leaders in the past. I have also watched "The Last Emperor" during the 80's. I am so fascinated with China. I want to visit China one day. Thanks my friend.

Thank you for your kindness towards China. We did have a long, rich history and make some inventions in the ancient times. But now, we copy different kinds of things more than invent. we are good makers, but not good inventors.

Your ancestors were the best in inventing things we use today. I am thankful to China in giving the world like paper and the minds to fulfill the dreams of flying to the air with the airplanes. The kites China have invented made it easy for us to safely travel through the air. I am very thankful to your ancestors. To be good workers is one best attributes Chinese have. Hard work is the key to success.

The last opening of the Olympics proved that China indeed is the lead. They have shown their rich culture and what they have proudly shared to the world. I am so thankful for the thing they have invented and we still use today. They are so good in trading.

Who wouldn't love China? China has many splendid things. There are so many to mention if we are going to talk about China's gift to the world. I am just thankful to China for their inventions.

I certainly agree that China has a very rich history and culture, but I don't think I would say they were "always the first in almost everything" or are "genius in inventing". Every civilization has a lot of offer and modern society has the inventions (and innovations) of many people and countries to thank. I don't know that more is owed to China in particular as opposed to anywhere else. China has a lot to offer, but I think it is important not to let pride in one's own culture get in the way of appreciting others as well.

I said that China is a super power because of their forefathers contribution to our society. In particular, I am talking about confucius who make us realize our roles in this world. He made me think why I am here and what I am here for. He made me undersatnd myself and other people. My apology if I wrote a wrong line.

There's something I've never liked about China as a country. I think they're a very elist people and it holds them back from being a bigger world power than they could be. I also think China adequates time and money as being more valuable than quality. Everything that comes of China, versus made in America, Eurpoe, ect, is usually poor quality and dangerous. I remember not too long ago, they was a ban on toys coming in from China because of abestos, or something like that. It was found out China was making toys for American and Chinese in the same plant, and lieing about using American standards on the toys to save money.

I love to watch Chinese movies. I love the way Chinese do their stunts. I have seen a movie done by a Chinese " Brokeback Mountain", " The Crouching Tiger", and "The last Emperor". These were all great movies. I like the Chinese Music too. There were a few movies that I watched in a nearby movie house in our town when I was a little boy. I love the watching the martial arts technique. I love wonderful China.

You should be proud of being a Chinese. Besides the progress, China still has its culture intact. I love the architecture in China and the clothes they wear. Thanks for the inventions and the food.
