The election for local Member European Parliamentaries is scheduled on 6th June. It does not hit the international headlines so I would not be surprised that you don't care much about this event. Well I am tempted to vote for a radical party who is totally opposed to illegal immigration including drastic measures. According to my wife I am going nuts because I wanted to vote for an extremist. This guy has been banned from participating in the election because of his extreme views and according to the court he incites hatred and racism. However what he said five years ago is happening in my country. There are certain areas when the Maltese don't dare to go at night because it has become a don't go area populated with illegal immigrants. I want to make a note by my vote that I am fed up that my country is being taken over by illegal immigrants and no one is doing anything about it. If you vote for such an extremist person, does it mean you are an extremist and a racist too?

Sometimes they are labeled the extremists because everyone else just wants to go along as things have been going, even if it is not the best way, just because it is familiar.
I was once president of a large organization in my field and I rocked the boat. Many liked it but the staunch, "Non-changers" hated me and caused problems. They did not want change or improvement, they just wanted what they considered safe.
We had a person who ran for president here, who was not of the main two parties, who I really liked and has brought up a lot of things over the years that he warned us about, that have now come to pass. Unfortunately, because he did not have the backing of one of the major parties and enough funding, he had no chance of winning.
Not that I do not like our new president, I do, as I did vote for him, but if the other man had a chance in H-LL, I would have voted for him.
Change is good and some people have vision and can see past the forest to the other side.
I do not agree with promoting racism, but again, I do not know much about this person. You need to explore, list the pros and cons and then make your decision.

I can't answer your question. it is hard for me to understand being afraid of illegal aliens because here in America, name a nationality, and they are here in great numbers. My country was created for peoples from other nations to come and make it home. There are areas here you shouldn't walk after dark but ir isn't because of foreigners, it is because of natives.I always welcome the new Americans.so I can't tell if you are racist or nit , sorry.

Do you hate people who are not from Malta originally? If so, then you could be called a racist. If you like all but love your native countrymen , then you have favorites but are not racist. Does this help?

I don't think it makes you a racist, it just means that you a desperate for a solution to your illegal immigration problem.
We have a lot of trouble in the States, too. We're not even allowed to call them illegal immigrants, at least public figures aren't. They have to call them "undocumented workers". We want a border fence but the government won't build one. People from Mexico, Cuba and Central America pour over our borders and put a huge strain on our public services, bankrupting hospitals by using the emergency rooms as their family doctors, having babies who are then U.S. citizens, etc.
Now the illegals are kidnapping people and holding them for ransom. It's very bad in Arizona, one of our states that shares a border with Mexico.
I can understand why you would be desperate enough to vote for a racist. When your country is in danger, you do what you have to do. Where do your illegals come from?

They come via Libya.... but are from all northern africa. Kenya, Sudan, Ethiopia etc etc. Because Malta is a small island the problem of having 5,000 illegal immigrants a year might not sound a big problem for a big country but it is having its toll on a small island. A population of 5,000 is like having a small town in Malta with Maltese residents.

I don't think so. It just sounds to me like you are simply tired of the same old, same old and want to see what this guy can do for your country. I wish your country well in the elections and that whoever is elected helps to build your country up for the better.

Hello my friend ronaldinu Ji,
It is nice to know your frank opinion. But if I have a authority and dare to ask you,
why at all you give so much importance, what others would think about you. If you think
that person is doing good for your country andyour concious allows, well , you should
go ahead and do what you think the best. Just do not worry, what others would think about
you. may god bless you and have great time.

yes, it does mean that, because when you vote for a party it means or should mean if you are a voter with a conscience that you stand by this party because you believe in the party, its politics and its biases and social standing,
you don't vote for a party that is racist
because they have a good policy for protecting wildlife,
they they may have the important factor is they don't have a good policy for people they are racist.
sorry I agree with your wife.
no matter how a party would make sense in other areas if they are racist they go against every principal I believe in

Wow! You mention NO other attributes to this party! Is there any other issues that you concur with their platform on? That is a pretty singular issue...and I think you should be made aware that this is an issue all over the world! Immigration at it's worst. We have reached the ultimate in "gang wars' here in B.C., in Vancouver alone, a murder a day...Asian Gang Wars..fighting for "turf" before the Olympics come in 2010! Can one party change this...I doubt it!

Extremist might not be a bad thing after all.. For, desperate situations calls fro desperate measures.. If the laws he is gonna implement, is able to help the country, then why not?? A country is supposed to take care of its own citizens and not letting other illegal immigrants take over one's own country right in front of their own eyes..
I support your decision in voting for him ^_^

I know for a fact that illegal immigrants enter a country for a reason. Like they are bad people who would never be granted a visa. or that they just don't have the means to support themselves and will definitely take advantage of tax payers' contributions. Whatever the reason is, I see your point in siding with an extremist politician. However, I think that other politicians are also aware of the illegal immigration problem. You need to vote for someone who will pass a law to govern immigration. And at the end of the day, you always have a right to choose whom you want to vote for.

let me ask you this if the illegal where what ever color or religion you are and acting the same way would you fill the same way.if the answer is yes then your opinion has noting to do with race.as for your vote.here in american we consider that a personal thing.you deside what is in your heart and vote what you think.it does not matter what your wife, kids or family thinks.it is your vote by right and law.

I understand why you want to vote for that radical party. I don't think you are a racist, you just don't want you country full of illegal immigrants. I guess no one wants their country full of illegal immigrants. I am sure you are not a extremist or racist, but you do need to sleep on it before you decide to vote for an extremist, an racist. if the parliament is full of that kind of person, it is a very dangerous thing. imagine how much damage it can make when an extremist and racist do a wrong thing.

Well I think it depends on the situation, if the illegal immigrant doesn't have any intention to hurt anyone or economy in your country, I don't think that is the issue for you to vote for the extremist. In my view, the most important thing is you vote for the leader that can develop your country as well as a good leadership which can create more vacancies for his nation. Happy Mylotting.

I would say it is being extremist in wanting to vote for someone who wants a whole country to be overrun by illegal immigrants. I would say vote for this guy. He seems to be quite intelligent. Tell your wife that does she want it to be in your own country that the original Maltese are a minority? Oh myself, I would vote for a Christian person, but I guess that makes me an extremist as well as us Christians only believe that we are the only ones who get into heaven so I guess you and I are in the same boat as far as candidates go.

i wouldn't think so. i feel the same way about the illegals here. they shouldn't be here!! what kills me is all the free stuff they are given when needy people can't get any help at all or are to proud to ask for it.

I think you should put your vote where it will do the most good. I know one vote isn't much but I also know if you start pushing this, through local press, internet,
maybe even radio is available to you. I don't know how much freedom you have in your country. But if you feel very strong about this issue go for it.

I think it is sad people are afraid of being accused of racism and are afraid to do what is right for them and their country. That sounds like real extremism to me. Not even Hitler had that much control.

hey no one likes illegal immigrants no matter were you live and how many jobs there. and there as alway been measures taken to stop these people. stopping them does not make you racist. however backing someone who is just goes agaist what you believe in. if he got into power his words are going to have power. what about the poor people who have the rigth to live in the country, who just becouse they have diffrent skin are put into the same box as otheir like the extremist musilms, chritains and jews who maybe a few but make otheir look bad the gap between groups of people is going to get bigger and bigger. and he is not going to help to fix the country but rip it apart with the things he says.
