Bringing beauty into your life (take 3) or rewiring my brain...

And on the subject of bringing more beauty into my life as a way of fighting depression, I find that when I look at, hear, read, whatever, something beautiful, if I remember to smile at that point in time, I feel better than if I just think, "oh that's pretty." Yep, silly, simple, but smiling helps. What little things do you try and remember to do to cheer yourself up when you're grumpy?

I to have to smile to actually feel cheer when I think omething is beautiful. Or at least make me feel better. Not sure why. but a smile surely does help.

YES! I always try to listen to the music that I love, talk to the friends that I enjoy and do not deal with certain things untill I am ready lol I enjoy cleaning my home so sometimes, just top to bottom cleaning with my music on does the trick lol That may sound weird but I am getting excercise, the house looks better which cheers me up....so it works !

Not only do I smile but I also comment out loud too and that cheers me up. If I hear something funny I will smile and might say 'wow that was a good one' out loud. I don't have a garden but my indoor plants get an overhaul when I'm grumpy. I stop whatever needs doing and prune them and stick them under the shower. They look better for it and I feel better too!

I think this is a wonderful tool to help with depression. I think it's just good for everyone to be honest. There is something about a bright bunch of flowers, a pretty tapestry, a brightly lit candle decoration, etc that help one leave one's problems and enjoy a happy moment.
I enjoy flower arranging, so that's what I do when I want to pick myself up.

Hi there. I tend to get grumpy/depressed about my job quite a lot so when I do, I usually take a break (a day off or two) to relax and do the things I enjoy. Also, I find that treating myself out to a nice meal or to snacks I enjoy once in a while really motivates me quite a lot.

My days off tend to center around my kids and their days off but a good meal definitely helps too!
