Polygamy is when one husband may have many wives. Sometimes polygamy is practiced as part of religious beliefs.

Polygamy should be outlawed, and any Man or woman who feels this is right should be Thrown in jail. How can anyone condone this way of life and thinking? You would have to have come from a different way of life to think this is OK. It is truly against the Bible and Gods teachings.

Polygamy IS outlawed. There is one famous current case where the fellow on the run has been captured and is currently in jail awaiting trial.

No, I don't. You can love only a person every moment of your life.

I have a hard time understanding sharing a husband. Any polygamous sister-wives out there to explain this to me?

Personally, I'd love to have about maybe four or five wives, so yes, I do heartily believe in polygamy. However, the actual logistics of it in terms of the financial burden would require me to have millions of dollars at my disposal, which is sadly not the case at this time. Even if a man were to pursue this with girlfriends it would still by financially exhausting.

No way, marriage is between 1 man and 1 women period. And why is it that it is always a man who would benefit from this anyway. I bet if some woman went out and married 5 men, that the polygamy community would flip out. If you want to go to bed with various women then don't get married.

It matters because I posted this discussion so I could learn about peoples' beliefs about polygamy. Why did you respond? For "credit"? You get a minus.

I would never be able to share my man - but to each his own right?
I started watching this series called "Big Love" - have you seen it? It's about a polygamous group (one man three wives) and how they live with it. It seems pretty sick - to sleep with the same man .. but I guess there are advantages too :P
I think I would love to have three husbands... LOL

definitely not..i think only 2 people should be married. otherwise, its not a real marriage..you marry someone because you love them and want to spend the rest of your life with them and you think they are "the ONE"...key word = ONE. you cant have a marriage with more than one person.

I've read another discussion posted by a man and his attitude, is that multiple wives is his right by his religion.

the benefits are more money in the marriage, the problems come with jealousy and having so many partners. personally, i wouldn't want to share my partner

Only more money if wives work outside the home, but many sister wives I've heard interviewed, said they all share house hold chores and childcare and do not typically work outside the home. In fact, many in the USA receive welfare and food stamps, according to them!

Yes, polygamy is a practice, but I thought one had to believe in the concept to practice it.

And perhaps there are people that believe in polygamy but don't practice polygamy because of laws against it.
