My friend just got her income tax check back and she's blowing money every which way she turns.lol..I'm sure it's for things she needs. She said before she got it that she was going to save it but now...she just can't help herself. It reminded me of the saying the the money is burning a hole in her pocket. Does money burn a hole in your pocket or are you good at saving it? Do you know anyone that blows money whenever they get it?

That is a way to put it! Money burning a hole in the pocket. Well, I am sure we do that from time to time as well. One way to really save the money, is to not have any expectations. And when you do not have expectations, you will not be thinking of ways to spend it. And when you are not thinking of ways to spend it, you will not be spending it. And wah-lah~! You get to keep the money and save it! Heh heh... On a more serious note, it is a bad habit to cultivate. The minute you get a little money, you have to think of ways to spend it. A habit like that is very hard to break. And the few people I know are like that, I am worried for them.

Yeah... living within your means is very important. Maybe you can advise your friend accordingly. Otherwise, it is always a constant struggle to find money to pay for expenses.

I agree with you. People that expect to have the things at 25 that their parents have at the age of 50 can tend to blow more money than they really need too. I think that buy living within your means you can surely be alot more comfortable and in the long run have more things. Thanks for the response!

I know of one person personally and a few of whom I used to be friends with. I like to save my money though, and I guess the people I am talking about blew it on things they didn't need, but just wanted. I guess you could say some of it was a neccessity, but yea, let's not get to the nitty gritty of it. I don't blow our money, I like to save it. Although I'll be honest in saying I offer it if I know someone's in a tight spot.

Hi SomeCowgirl! I'm like you when it comes to wanting to save. I like nice things and on occasion will treat myself but as far as spending all my money..I don't. Especially with times the way they are right now I want to save more. Thanks for the response.

I know ppl like that...I remember one friend that got a $1500 student grant and spent all but $200 at Walmarts in less then 2 hours...and then asked to borrow money the next day. I'm more careful with money and try to look ahead when I spend so that I don't run out. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

Hi, I am not a good-SAVER of Money atall.Money slips out of my pocket and betrays me everytime. But I'd like to state here a real incidence of 'SriRamkrishna Paramhansa',the guru of Swami Vivekananda.Vivekananda kept coin below Ramkrishna's pillow, to test his Guru.It burnt Ramkrishna's entire body and Vivekananda was ashemed and recognised his True Guru. Here, money really BURNT an individual. =Lahiri,Kolkata,India.

I'm usually not that bad with money. In fact, I'm sitting on quite a bit of money that I could be using at this point to spend on something that I really want. However, I haven't spent it yet and I'm not planning on it. I'm actually planning on working on my online earnings to see if I can actually acquire enough money by working online for a few months to buy what I want. I prefer working for things for awhile. It kind of feels nice knowing that you've worked hard to acquire that thing you want instead of just going out and throwing your money down to get it. However, I'm sure there are people that feel differently than me on that subject and that's OK. I just like doing things my way.

Hi highflyingangel! Nothing wrong with doing things your way. It works! It is nice to know you've worked for something and you enjoy it more I think. I'm trying to save 6 months of living expenses up right now in case something happens at work. Then if everything works out ok I can treat myself a little. Thanks for the response!

It does not in mind, although today it must have because the chorale music store in our city was closing, so I went and bought enough song books to last for at least five years. But usually I am so tight with money that it takes awhile before I decide to buy something and then when I do, you just cannot stop me. Maybe if I spent it in dribs and drabs, but maybe not. At least when I do buy something it is something that I need.

Hi suspenseful! Nothing wrong with that! I think we all deserve to buy the things we need or sometimes what we want with our hard earned money. If I get my mind on buying something..I usually will have to get it but it is usually something I need. Thanks for the response and conrats on the good deal!

I am bad about spending money I don't need to be spending. For me the more money I have the more money I spend. I got my tax money back today. I have done good so far. I spent about $80 at Shoe Carnival getting my kids new shoes and socks, but other than that I resisted the urge to spend a lot of money today.

It depends. I try to take money that I need to put aside for thigns first but I can also get a bug where I just want to spend it. So, I try to splurge on things I need first. I keep a list of things I want to get done around the house, and since I love to do DIY home improvement projects, splurging on those is fun for me. If have have free cash that I do not need for anything I might go out to lunch, do some small shopping, etc. I prefer splurging on things like vacations so I set aside my money for that as much as I can.

Hey Jen! I am not very good at holding on to money either! I should know better by now too! I did save up enough money to buy a new bed so I know that if I put my mind to it I can do it! I think that if I ever got a large sum of money I would put most of it away! I promised myself that I would try to do better with managing money and I am doing better than I was.

I am normally prtty good about saving money and not spending it unless I have to. I do have my times when I decide just to go and buy things though. Even then, I very rarely buy things that aren't really cheap or are unnecessary.

I am not the one who can't help spending all the money in pocket. I do remember one of my childhood friend who did. money wouldn't stay in him pocket for long. He just bought everything when he had money on hand. the thing that he bough most was snack. when i was out with him, he always keep his mouth full. he ate one snack after another. he could eat several kinds of snack in just about 10 minutes. Money really did burn money in his pocket.

Money used to burn a hole in my pocket, but luckily in the last few years I learnt to curb my spending. I do know a few people that cannot keep money in their pockets for very long, one of those people is my husband he is awful at keeping money. Then I have some friends whom I can see being in terrible trouble before long due to their spending habits.

Hi gemini_rose! Good for you. I know a lot of people that I work with that have gotten in way over their heads. Spending money they don't even have. I know of three right off that have had to file bankrupt because they just couldn't keep their heads above water. I have been known to over spend on occasion but it's few and far between for me. Thanks for responding!

Hi syankee! It's easy to blow money on things that you want sometimes even though you don't really need it. The times I've blown money have been when I have had to do without for so long that when I got a chance I tried to make uo for lost time..lol..Thanks for the response.

i am out of cash right now. because as soon as i receive money i get to spend them in different things that my heart wishes to have. like enjoy today and suffer later. and i keep telling myself next time will be different and i will save on next time i have receive money again. but nothing change. it still is the same thing happening. spending every money that i have till i just stay at home cause i am out of cash already. but actually, i don't think i will change soon. but one thing i will change are the things that i buy i will try to buy more important things so i will have more satisfaction on the things that i have spent my money on.
