There IS snow, just not at my house...

I'll let you into a little secret. Just don't alert the media. It will ruin California's reputation. It does rain here. It does snow here. shhhhhh...
So I heard this morning that the snow level was down to 1000 feet elevation. I've only seen snow from my house once and that was on the hills behind us. It didn't quite get as low as we are, 700 ft. I didn't see any snow from the house today but I did hear that it was there at Bass Lake Road, just one freeway exit east of us. On my way to work I saw a LOT of cars with a decent amount of snow on them coming from that direction. Got to call the mom-in-laws and see how the kids are liking it (she's at 2000 ft.). Funny about those cars with snow on them. Doesn't anybody park in their garage? We do. Do you?

The year I left San Diego (a week before Christmas) and flew into Buffalo, there was snow when I took off and 60's when I landed. Talk about a shock.
We are in Michigan now and no, garages are for junk and out door toys not cars... silly. Of course my house doesn't have a garage yet. But give us time and we'll have a winter home.

the way you guys, talk about winter, it gives me the feeling of how great it is when the winter season comes.
i have always been awed by the sights of snow covered lands in photographs eversince when i was young.
now that i am much older, i have known that there are so many sides to it. everything in those areas where snowing takes place, all infrastructure are so designed to take into consideration the effects of winter thereat.
well, i know that this is no big deal for you since you have already been coping with this situation since childhood. for us, it will be such a big, big deal just coping.
but the snowing, it is really nature's gift to mankind.

I look at snow kind of like grandchildren. Snow is something you visit but you don't live in, kind of like grandchildren are children that you can play with and spoil and then give back to their parents!

Well, not everyone, especially around where I live are lucky enough to live places where there is No Snow. Many people who do live around where I do either own more than enough cars to fit in carports, garages, etc. to where they are usually out in all the wonderful weather that happens around them. So that is probably what is happening with people around that area as well.

Maybe people here figure they don't need their garages on account of snow (at least not more than one or two days a year) so they're filled with junk!

Wow! Snow how cool is that *lol* *looking outside the window and see nothing BUT snow*
We don't park in the garage - it's full of stuff - the car can't fit in.
I understand it feels kind of wierd with snow in Califonia! I wish we got some Califonia heat this summer - it would feel great. Can you see I'm sick of the winter?!
I must admit that it's very beatyful outside with all white snow, and it's nice to be outside when it's sunny and not that cold.

I guess if you're OK with dealing with snow covered cars.....
You might want some California heat this summer but not all of it! It can get up to 115 F (46 C) here in the summer. At least it cools off at night though.

No mountains that are high enough for it? Then I guess you have to get yourself over to a continent to see some! Hopefully you will one day!

hello dawnald
lol it is good to hear that somebody parks their vehicles in their garage like that you-all do. lol my family and myself do have a two car garage that we do not use to park our vehicles in thou. lol one of the garage doors is broke and one has to be careful on how that they raise and lower the door, and the other side of the garage we have a broken down Buick sitting there taking up space. lol my washer and clothes dryer is also located in the garage. my hubby has all of his tools and things like that downstairs in the garage as well. so there is no room on either side of our two car garage to park anything in. lol oh yeah, did i forget to mention all of the yard sale boxes that are sitting on one side of the garage floor?
take care and have a beautiful evening.

That's where it's useful to have a 3 car garage, although we really wanted the extra bedroom. All our junk is stored in there. Husband a fanatic about making sure that the car is in the garage, not outside!

brrr...
My kids love it though. I really need to get them better shoes and gloves especially. Last time we took them to the snow they got soaked.

snow maybe a delight to behold. however, we have known also about snowstorms and how difficult it is to deal with snow which has accumulated thickly on the roads, and the doorways, and the garage driveways. big headaches then, huh, dawnald.
but, whatever they may say about it, there is beauty to snow that cannot be conpensated with by anything else.
so, maybe for you, dear friend, you were happily looking at the sites around you which show the evidence that it has been snowing.
in my country though, we do not have this snowy privilege at all. i am happy and contented with how we are with our climates, anyway. we do not have to deal with all the problems that has to be addressed when the temperature gets below 4 degrees centigrade.

I'm not quite high enough up that I have to deal with it either. Snow is something I like to visit for a while and when I'm cold, I go home!

No, I don't have a garage. I turned by garage into an extension of the house. It has a roof and walls just half way up to the ceiling. The other half is grilled and I have sun blinds to let down at night or in the day if it is raining. For safety in hurricanes I just park my car close to the house so it has some shelter. I love the extra space in the house. In fact 0 this is my favourite room.
