I am a reader. I am an amateur bibliophile. I love books, the smell, feel, textures of books. I'm packing for a move and so I've been making a detailed list of my books for inventory purposes. I'm not done yet and I've already reached well over 200 books. Since I'm moving, I've put a stop out on buying new books. Now I'm not a book hoarder by any means. Each book has been read multiple times by me and other friends. Often I'll have several copies of a book because when friends ask for a book I recommend or a book on a particular subject I always have one to give away.
For me there is nothing like raiding my own library and finding a rare treasure. Sometimes I won't remember the characters or plot because its been too long since I've last read it. Then its sort of like coming home and visiting some old friends.
The one book I can't possibly read more than twice are suspense/thriller books. You know the one that always has a serial killer, a romantic twist, and a hero to save the day. I love them but once I've figured it out, one look at the cover and I remember.
So how bout you? Do you reread any of your books?

I actually never do because I want to move onto another one. If I keep the book, it usually because there's some scenes I want to read again or I need to refresh my memory.

I either sell them, trade them, or even give them away. I never throw them away.

I have read many of my books multiple times, some of them so many times the book fell apart and I had to buy another copy. I have a ton of books, I hardly ever get rid of any unless I just don't like them. I am trying to be better about it now, after having to move them all once, but its hard for me to let them go, they feel too much like good friends to me for me to let them go easily.

I know how you feel about moving them. I've moved mine a lot and its no picnic. I told my bf when we met and decided to move in together that I came with two things that were not debatable. One was my books the other my cat. He likes the cat better, he weighs less.

I totally argee with you Aurone. I am having a hard time deciding which ones to take with me now when I move and which ones wait until I can come home and get them since I am moving across the state. I am flying over so I can only take certain things...meaning certain books...I have a few that are falling apart too, those are the good ones.

I read as often as I can, and a lot of times I will read a book more than once. I have read "The Watchmen" more than once, and by the way, I highly recommend this people who are into heroes and the strange.

Another book I recommend is "American Gods", "1602", "The Last Temptation" and anything written by Neil Gaiman. Alan Moore is also a wonderful writer and of course he wrote "The Watchman" and "V for Vendetta". The classics are great as well. Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, Ray Bradbury, and a lot of others. Sci-Fi, Horror and Fantasy are always great.

I am kind of weird about it. If I can remember the beginning, the middle, the end and the climax of the book (and even movies) I do not read or watch them again. Because my mind we be preempting everything that is happening before I can read it and I won't enjoy it much. So, I usually go 2 or 3 years or however long it takes for me to forget what it was about :)

That's cool that you guys share books, my friends and I don't really have the same book interests. :) Usually what happens, is one of us spots a good sale, buys a bunch of books and get together and let everyone pick from the lot. It turns out great, and everyone gets a couple of new books to read :)

Very very rarely do I read a book twice. The few books that I had read twice and likely to read again are: Bible, The science of getting rich and Romance of Three Kingdoms (in Chinese).
I have the habit of recording every single book I read. At the average rate reading 3 books every week, think I have completed about 600 books over the past 4 years. Most, in fact, nearly all the books are from public library.
The smell of new book is really nice, like fresh bread right from the oven.

I read it when relaxing. If I already read the book and I find it still interesting, I re-read it. I am fond of reading and I have collections of books and magazines.

My fiance and I don't have a book collection by any means but the few books we do have we intend to read over. My fiance doesn't like to read but I do and will often times read to him. Recently I read him a book that I've read before and he enjoyed it. I also enjoyed it as I while I read it I remembered some parts and was eager to read them to my fiance!

I don't do it very much because there are so many other books that I want to get to reading first but there are plenty of books out there that I would love to reread over and over again. I am trying to build up a collection of my favorite books and I would love to have a nice library in my house at some point in my life.

I like reading books too. I always buy book and I have a lot of books in my place. I live in just a studio apartment but books are all over my place. I guess I also have more than 200 books. but I am a lazy guy, my books just lay in irregular way, let alone making inventory. I do reread some of the books. I do it on spur of the moment.

If i love the book i reread it= i read Very fast and even tho i remember what i read with no problem- i still enjoy re-reading. if i love the book i let myself drop into the story each time. and i have favorites that i feel i Must read at least once a yr - i read jane eyre, and little women every christmas (my treat for myself) basically my fav authors and books i re-read til the books fall apart. i have some paperbacks that are 20 yrs old and when they do fall apart i get a new copy
.
if i only 'just like' or dont really like a book, about every 3 months i either sell or give those away to make room in my overflowing bookcases for more New favorites!
and yes i even reread the mysteries.. each time i do i get a new nuance or look at the story.. its good....:)

I have a lot of favourite books in my collection and I love to read some of them over and over, there's nothing wrong with this. Certain books really take me places and there is so much enjoyment that I receive in this. I love collecting books and I don't have as many books as you but my collection is starting to expand slowly! I only live in a small place so there isn't much room for a lot of books however, if I had to dance around my place in order to access the kitchen then I don't mind this! Andrew

I usually don't re-read my books, because I always like to read something new and also my life goal is to read as much books as I can . but lately I've started a book and at chapter one I knew I probably read it before but I couldn't remember the plot so I continued reading it.
although the sense of familiarity bothered me a little.

Wow! I have a good friend who really is a book hoarder until now that he is on his 3rd year med.. He reads whenever he's feeling burnt out from studying.. I use to read a lot of suspense/mystery kinds of books but since I couldn't very much afford to buy a lot, I just borrow from him.. hehe...
But once I've finished reading a book, I browse at it again and that's it... I do not usually reread them even after a few years... ^_^
