I have a beard at the moment and I use an electric trimmer to keep it very short. I thought I'd give the ol'd eyebrows a bit of a tidy up as well, but stupid me didn't change the blade settings now did I! I am now the proud owner of a very well trimmed beard and no friggin' eyebrows! Thank God hair grows back is all I can say really! lol. So have you ever messed up yourself when grooming? Know anyone else that has? I need some time to get used to my neanderthal forehead and upper eye line, but I'll get there!

Hahahahahahaha.... I think you should post a photo James! I could use a good laugh. I am in a similar position - not with missing eyebrows but with missing hair, and not because of a grooming slip but because of the weather! My mother's water pipes froze recently and I was outside trying to look under the house to see the extent of the damage. There was some burdock growing where I was leaning over to peer under the house and the burrs got stuck in my hair. I could not get them out... the more I tried the more tightly tangled they became. I finally had to cut them out before I ripped all my hair out by the roots in a rage. Then I had to cut the rest of my hair to match. My hair used to be past my butt, now it barely reaches my waist. Your little mishap might only take a few months to right itself, mine will take a few years... probably 6 or 7 years. As depressed as I am about this situation, there is a teeny tiny bit of a bright side in that it is a lot easier to brush out... I was thinking I needed to hire someone to brush my hair because my arms weren't long enough to reach the ends.

There's NO way I'm gonna post a photo of this on here! lol. Having to see myself in the mirror's bad enough! The funny thing is that it's only me and my Wife that even seem to notice it so far..... So either it's not as obvious as I seem to think, or people are just too self absorbed to notice! We have similar burrs in Australia. They are an absolute nightmare too, especially when it comes to getting them out of your dog or cat's hair. I once had to have a chunk of hair cut out too, but this was because of bubble gum and my haor was certainly nowhere near as long as yours is! I know how much you love your long hair so I can appreciate how frustrating this must have been. As you said though, it's easier to brush out now, so I guess there's that silver lining again as always! lol. Anyways, nice to see you again zig, it's been a while!

You're most welcome zig! And funnily enough, you've been spot on about people's reaction to my eyebrow-less state for a week or so there. I'd have people look at me funny and state that SOMETHING was different, but they weren't sure what! lol. No-one cottoned on to it exactly without me telling them though. Anyways, I'm happy to say that my eyebrows have returned!

So now I can say there are TWO good things about losing my hair... the second one being that I got a BR out of it! Thanks James! And I was thinking... I bet people didn't mention your missing eyebrows because it took them awhile to figure out 'what's wrong with this picture', hehehehe. They probably looked at you and thought "boy he sure looks weird today", but couldn't put their finger on exactly what it was that was weird. Then by the time they got back to their desks it hit them "OH! He shaved his eyebrows! What a friggin' weirdo!"

No eyebrows ? I think they have a name for that There have been times that i have messed up with the hair, cut it too short, that sort of thing, but never touched the eyebrows. So a new look James, Now is this intended to be permanenet or a temporary one.

They have a name for it??? Seeing as it was self inflcited, aside from "idiot" I'm not aware of any other terms for it? And it's a temporary look I'm afraid Alok! Thankfully the hair will of course grow back and I can be back to my normal self within a few weeks I hope! lol. Thanks for the comments and if you muck up your own hair again at anytime in the future, you know where to share the story.....

Wow, Now I know not to get one of those trimmers that woman are using for their eyebrows knowing my bad luck I would end up without any to. Although for me it wouldn't be as bad since not as many people see me as they do you probably. My husbands niece once tried to use a trimmer on her brows and she ended up with a big gap between her brows it looked unnatural she didn't want to go to school cause of it. Kids can be cruel. I will stick to my handy dandy tweezer and maybe a pair of scissors and a comb to do my trimming.

You're certainly keeping me on my toes this morning mtdewgurl! Based on my own experience, yes it's probably wise that you steer clear of electric trimmers when it comes to eyebrow maintenance. I see people all day, every day, so you could imagine how conscious I was of this. But funnily enough, only the one person noticed specifically what was different about me! I got a number of puzzled looks though. lol. I'd definitely be sticking with your tweezers asd the last thing you need is to end up like your Husband's niece! Thanks for the comments.

Burgundy eyebrows - This is how they look now, I have gotten the hang of it :-)
I've 'messed up' my eyebrows on purpose I dye my hair a lot darker shades and I allways have hold a grudge with those white sparkly eyebrows contrasting with my red/dark brown/black hair. Till one day I decided I would take a leap into something new and shave off my eyebrows and draw them on. My biggest fair: what if it doesn't work? What if I won't get them even? So I practiced a while with my eyebrows still on and then shaved them off during a weekend so I would at least have some 'naked eyebrow drawing practicing time' before I went back to college. It is rather easy one you have gotten the hang of it. By now I have a special kit that isn't that expensive and comes with special plastic eyebrow designs that you powder on in a variety of colours. I have chosen burgundy and it looks well with my red hair dye. It looks better than the black eyebrow pencil, and the red eyebrow pencils I did see didn't quite work for me. However, I did have days at first with somewhat funny eyebrows. I looked pensive or surprised all day long! .

Now why does you purposely shaving off your eyebrows and then turning it into some sort of fashion statement NOT surprise me in the slightest, cyberfluf? I'm not that adventurous unfortunately! Not only am I 36 years old, but I work in the corporate world, so this may not be accepted too readily I wouldn't think! lol. All I can say at this point in time is that I'm unbelievably grateful that facial hair can actually grow back! Thanks for sharing your own unique and quirky spin on the whole situation. In my next life, I may be able to put some of these tips to good use I reckon!

Why didn't you go in for threading your eyebrows? Mem do it in Egypt (well, they do in the Middle East). Adventurous fellow decided to do some eyebrow grooming himself! I've tried to cut a fringe for myself when I was younger (because my mother wouldn't let me go out and get a haircut). It was a disaster and I had to go around with my hair clipped back for months till it grew out and my mother then let me get a proper haircut. Ive also had others spoil my eyebrows for me.

Yeah, kind of...that's how threading works. Your wife might be able to explain it better. lol....yes, I'm not adventurous anymore...especially not with my hair and scissors. I don't want to scare away the kids in my class.....and most of the time I need to take care when they are wielding THEIR scissors! One of my students chopped off a chunk of another student's hair!

Threading my eyebrows??? I think I know what this is, but I'm not 100% sire. This is when another person uses threads side by side to pull tight and remove hairs, yes? I trim my own eyebrows all the time, but in this instance I was off in la-la land and never thought to confirm the trimmer settings before swiping my eyebrows! It's a good thing for me that hair grows back. Given your own hair cutting experiences, a good thing for you too! lol.

Hahaha! I can just picture that! Yeah, you are lucky that hair grows back! It will take a bit of time, but all will be well in about 4 to 6 weeks I would think. I once decided to cut my own hair. I was quite young at the time (under 20) and had never done that before. I ended up with very short hair --right below my ears, but the funny thing was everyone loved the cut and complimented me on it everywhere I went. I guess I managed to do a good job! I haven't cut my hair so drastically since that time though! I stick with just a couple of inches at a time. I had long hair down my back at that time and it was a huge change! Good luck with those eyebrows!

Mind you, I don't use an electric, I run a safety razor lightly over the top, but on occasions I have used too sharp a blade and reduced my jungles to manicured woods with numerous clearings and fields. I must say, James, in light of the slowness of MyLot at the moment, your ploy of reviving old discussions is nothing short of genius. Wish I'd thought of it. I shudder to think what might happen if I attempted to use a razor on my eyebrows! At loeast with a trimmer, it's just one quick swipe on each eyebrow and I'm done. All I have to do in future is make sure I check the bloody level settings first! They've grown back now anyways, so all's well that ends well. Jeez I looked funny for a while there though! As for the older discussions popping back up, well part if it's from me going back through some of them and finding comments I'd never noticed before and then replying to them; but most of them have popped up again through no efforts on my part at all! People have been digging them up for some reason and maybe because of the same boredon you're experiencing? It's been quite an odd week on that front. Kind of like a trip down memory lane! And seeing as you've opted for a Whistler/Oscar quip, here's another - "Popularity is the only insult that has not yet been offered to Mr. Whistler.” (Oscar Wilde) So I say go full non-conformist and shake things up a bit!

You should have tried threading instead just like women do it here. Less risky. I too have messed up grooming sometime back. I got a 'Braun Silk Epil' (an epilater which removes hair from the roots) as a gift last summer. Basically I am a laid back kind of a person but once I thought of removing what ever hair I had on my legs (between my knee and ankle). With full enthu I started but shrieked with pain. lol. Somehow I managed to remove hair from one leg and just couldn't muster up the courage to clean the other one. I had to leave it their- sorry- Done!! The result was that the difference was too noticeable when ever I wore a skirt. Now, somehow I've got used to it and remove hair from both the legs. Repeated removal weakens the roots and so gets less painful. But to all the new users I must warn them and would suggest to go for waxing instead.

Oh I know of these epilators! Man they hurt! lol. And what gets me, is that iun the TV commercials, the women using them have these great big smiles on their faces. That's just not accurate at all because the damn things are unbelievably painful. Maybe they sedate the women first and THEN film them using it? I do appreciate that it must get easier over time, but good luck actually persisting long enough to get to that stage! lol. I have heard of threading too, but never tried it myself. Keep in mind, I regularly use an electric trimmer to keep my eyebrows in check every few months, but in this instance, I forgot to check the settings before I used it! Thanks for the response Daffodil.

Well, I think that eyebrows are over-rated anyway . Don't worry about it, you could pretend that it was deliberate and you were making a fashion statement, or that you shaved them off for a good cause, or in protest at something.. I often cut my own hair, and have had a few slightly dodgy-looking hair cuts, but nothing too terrible. And I always tell myself that it'll grow back, so it's no big deal really. Just like your eyebrows will. Although you might decide you like the no eyebrow look...

Given what I've just done, I'm gonna have to agree with you about the over-rated angle! The funny part is that no-one other than my Wife and I have even noticed, so I'm not even at the stage yet where I NEED to side step the issue with any talk of fashion statements or otherwise. lol. I'm prepared though, just in case! Seeing as you've had your own share of hair cutting debacles, I guess we can both be thankful it DOES indeed grow back! lol. Thanks for the response liquorice and for the record, nah..... I'm not to keen on the no eyebrow look at all! Hahahaha.
