What cat food and litter do you use

We got a kitten from the pound about a month ago. He's around 7 months old, named Loki. He's been great, well behaved and really playful. I've been wondering what kind of cat food and litte everyone else is using. I feed him meow mix kitten, and use 'The World's Best Cat Litter' (that's really what it's called). The animal shelter was feeding him science diet, but I switched him to meow mix because it was so expensive. Anyway, he much prefers the meow mix, even when I was mixing them together to get used to the new food, he would carefully eat all the meow mix first and only eat the science diet if I didn't give him more. And I'm really happy with the cat litter. I tried a regular clay litter before, and that didn't last very long. 'The World's Best Cat Litter' lasts a long time, and doesn't get smelly.

There are foods balanced for the nutrition needs of kittens. Look for them. I have recently changed to the "clumping" litter because I was just not happy with the "old" style... too messy, too bothersome to change, too smelly. The keys to using the clumping style are: 1. use a LOT of it in the box, makes removing the clumps/lumps much easier 2. clean it every day or 2 If you follow that, it will keep clean and smell-free.

Yeah, I agree clumping litters are much better. They also seem to track it around less. And I usually clean it every day before I go to bed, but might miss a day on the weekends.

Ya know, everyone prefers junk food to good food, and that's what Meow Mix is. I have 25 cats, and if I didn't have so many, I'd be feeding a better quality of food, as it is, I'm feeding Purina One, the best I can afford. I do use a cheaper litter, the Sam's brand

Wow, 25 cats. The only time we might have had that many, they were barn cats and mostly lived off of catching mice and birds attracted by the feed mill my family owned. Thanks for your comment, I'll start paying better attention to the ingredients.

i adopted my cat from a neighbor, and i stayed with what he is used to. i didnt want to change his food. he eats Fancy Feast and Trader Joes Holistic Dry Food. my late cat and late dogs used to eat science diet, eukenuba and iams. i would switch ur cat's food back to science diet. and feed him a little bit moist food in morning and dry food as a snack later on in the day. kittens need kitten food because they are still growing. maybe some milk for their health and growth. i also use scoopable litter because it is easier to clean.

I have two cats and I feed them either, healthy choice, friskies, meow mix, there is another brand I can not recall at the moment. The really like the friskies, sometimes if I buy a different brand, they won't eat it. It is not like one likes it and the one doesn't, they both will not eat it, (silly kitties). I have always used fresh step cat litter, when I switched the litter brand, they did not like it and would poop next to the litter box instead of in it, so I only buy fresh step.

Cats can be really picky about food and litter box. Loki's not too picky about food yet.

We have four cats. The food we're giving them right now is purina one, fancy feast, friskies, and iams. The litter we use is arm and hammer.

We started with Kitten Chow for the first year. Then we switched to Cat Chow as the bag suggested. She didn't seem to like it so much so we eventually went to Purina One and she seems to like it a lot better. For litter we have always used Arm & Hammer fresh scent clumping litter. People come in the house and say they can't believe a cat lives hear because there is no bad smell. I was told that it is best to stick with one type of litter because if the scent is different they may not want to use the litter box. Also our vet insists that dry food is much better than soft and wet. I suppose it is ok to give them soft food occasionally.

I don't have one type of cat litter I get, usually anything scoopable. But, I usually get Fresh Step or Tidy Cat. I buy my kitty Purina One and also Naturals Purina Cat Chow. I like her to have a choice and give her both at the same time. Congratulations on your new kitty family member. That is wonderful that you rescued her from the pound.
