HA! Ha! When you figure that out let me know. I have a very artistic daughter on my hands. She's decorated alot of our walls, purple crayon, red, blue and black ink pens, very lovely if i must say so myself, but it makes me very mad. My son, however never did this..

You should supervise him when he has any type of writing instrument at this age. If he can't understand what is okay or not okay, you need to be there for every moment that he has the pen in hand.
My children have never scribbled on the walls (knock on wood!) and I'm pretty sure it is because I never let them have crayons, pens or etc when I wasn't watching them.
You should try keeping his attention on the paper during coloring time.

I hate to tell you this, he will never stop until he understand what you telling him. My daughter draw picture and words on my hall way, even bathroom and bedroom Or sometimes she uses my husband's check book... hahhaha... I dont know how to stop her either but recently, she understand about not to write on the wall. Why dont you try to get him a board, something that he loves to write on, or book, art book... these might keep him away from the wall. kids are like that and they will never stop... if you stop now, he/she will go later... I will repaint my house again once they stop.
