Window Vista, which can make even the fastest computer seems slow. But, most of us are live to live with Windows Vista today. I believe most of us are not satisfy with the window performance. But somehow, we can configure the window's setting to make it runs much more faster and smoother. I found out several steps which may speed up your computer performance by changing or eliminating these features. 1. turn off the window animation - open window control panel - click system and maintenance, then performance information and tools - click on the advanced tools from the task pane at the left - click "adjust the appearance and performance of Windows",a dialog box will appear - choose "custom", then remove the check mark beside "animate windows when minimising and maximising, fade or slide menus into view, fade out menu items after clicking, enable transparent glass" - if you're working on an old machine, simply select the "adjust for best performance" option 2. Turn off UAC (user account control) - open window control panel - click user accounts and family safety, then choose user accounts - click "turn user account control on or off" - remove the check mark from the box labelled "Use user account control(UAC) to help protect your computer" - click ok and then restart your computer 3. disable indexing - open the vista control panel, then click system and maintenance - followed by indexing option - in the index options dialogue box, you can control which drives and folders get indexed by clicking the Modify button. - Click advanced to specific which file types are indexed - limiting the drives, folders, and file types that are indexed will reduce the amount of time for vista spends indexing, thus reduce the overhead required by the indexing feature and speed up your computer I have test it, so you don't need to worry that these tweak will hang your computer. I hope you will enjoy your computer performance now. :)

Well, i am currently using the Auslogic Boostspeed, it is quite good in optimizing my computer, not only for the network connection, it also optimizing your computer setting. Well, i will try Vlite for the alternative ways for optimizing. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing tips for Vista. In addition to these, there are more you can do to increase Vista performance slightly more. Despite these improvements, Vista still uses lot of disk space - minimum 15GB and upto 40GB and many PC users might not have this available space in thier hard disk. Those who have large capacity disks might not have 1GB RAM, which is recommended for Vista o run smoothly, especially when you install Vista Aero.

Thanks for your additional information. That's true, vista needs at least 1GB ram to run the window smoothly. Actually my computer's ram is optimizer to 3GB, so i don't met any problem of these. For those who still running their old machine, i think it is time to optimize their computer.
