I use dial-up because cable is a bit expensive. However, DSL is getting to a reasonable price and may get that soon.

I understand that..once you get dsl ..you will wonder how you ever had the patience for the page to load with the dial up:)+

I've actually used cable and T-1 at work and at other places. I think it's great. But, I like the fact that I can check my e-mail and browse any time of the day and night from my home, so I have to go with what I can pay for.

DSL Digital Subscriber Line - a very high-speed connection that uses the same wires as a regular telephone line. ADVANTAGES: *You can leave your Internet connection open and still use the phone line for voice calls. *The speed is much higher than a regular modem DSL doesn't necessarily require new wiring; it can use the phone line you already have. *The company that offers DSL will usually provide the modem as part of the installation. DIADVANTAGES # A DSL connection works better when you are closer to the provider's central office. # The connection is faster for receiving data than it is for sending data over the Internet. # The service is not available everywhere.

Well I havent used dialup in over 6 years now, so that leaves DSL or cable, I prefer DSL it is better in my oppinion. with Cable everyone who is on the same line as you will slow you down if your using it all at the same time with DSL you have a direct connection to the main junction where the band width is up there so your band with remains the same and will not slow you down. YES I HAVE DSL. There was one option you didnt mention is satilite internet that is better than dial up but still slower than DSL or Cable

In the past I have used dial up at home. At work I had DSL and loved it. I would come home and get on the computer and it would take so long to connect, and then if I downloaded anything from the internet it took so long sometimes I would forget what I was downloading! I finally got DSL at home about 3 months ago and it is GREAT! I would hate to have to go back to dial up.

I have cable which comes into my modem and feeds my wireless router. That allows me to share the internet connection via ethernet (a physical network wire) to my PC and by wireless (the same sort of connection, except that it is by radio with a range of about 100ft) to my laptop. I, too, remember those little chirps that said that the PC was connecting to the Internet on a dial-up connection!

We use cable...its really quick and was super easy to set up. I wouldn't switch to dial up unless I absolutely had to.
