Little tips that help a homemaker keep organized

I'll share one! I have picked up lots of The Taste of Home recipe magazines that have the little cards with recipes you can cut out. I needed a way to store these. So I bought a couple of photo albums and started putting the little recipe cards in them. It works great! Does anyone else have a tip they'd like to share?

I like to keep my bills organized by placing them in a basket. I write the date on them that I want to make sure to pay them online. Then I file them in order. Everyday I look at the bill on top of the basket. This way I know if I have to pay bills that day or not. Also, go threw you mail when you bring it into your house. Throw the junk immediately and file the bills. Keeps clutter out of the kitchen.

Cool! That's exactly what my mom does. She has a basket sitting on her dresser where she puts bills and receipts.

A few tips that I find help out: - Try to always have the dishes done and counters cleared before going to bed! When you wake up to a clean kitchen in the morning your day will start off on a good note and you won't have to worry about cleaning up yesterdays mess. - I like to keep my recipes in a mini-binder, I just write up or print out a recipe I like and place it in the binder, then whenever I need to remember one of them, they are right there in an organized spot (the binder is organized alphabetically with tabs) - Plan out your menu for the week before going grocery shopping, and get everything you need for the week in one trip if you can. Of course there may be something we forgot or find out we need later in the week, but at least the majority of the shopping will be done and you won't have to worry about whether or not you have all your ingredients for dinner! - Another good storage tip for recipes ans such is to take a folder/pocket type organizer and attach it to the inside of one of your cupboard doors. This way its out of sight when guests come over, but its easy to find and get to when your ready to cook/bake. - If you have a pantry or extra cupboard/shelf space, try to put away most of your kitchen appliances except for the few that you use regularly (oven, toaster, coffee maker etc). This keeps your counters clearer, which looks good, lol and you'll have more space too!

Use salt to kill slugs that have made their way into your home. Toothpaste is excellent for cleaning places that are stained in replace of bleech. Also toothbrushes are great to clean hard to reach places.

Wow those are some great tips... as I see my kitchen is still messy from today and it is almost midnight, I know I will be waking up to clean that mess tomorrow, but I agree to wake up to a clean kitchen just somehow makes your day start on a better note...LOL I will use some of these thanks!! I am in the process of cleaning out my house and getting ready for a yard sale in a couple months my aunts are putting together and after that I hope to be truly organized this year!! good luck to us all!! LOL

Another thing that helps me to save time and keep organized is to have those laundry hampers where where are 2-3 bins/bag in a stand. Then hubby and I separate the clothes into darks, whites, colors etc as we put them in rather than having to go through it all on laundry day! Another tip is to make sure you try to fold the laundry as soon as it comes out of the dryer! Not only does it make sure the task gets done but it prevents all those wrinkles that your clothes will get if they just sit in a pile for too long!
