Today a student had 100 tabs in school. When I asked why she was collecting, she said to make a wheelchair. I remember back in the late 80s I also collected to make a wheelchair only to find that group wasn't actually doing it and we threw away all the tabs. I have heard it was a hoax but then I also heard it was true.
So Fact of Fiction? Can pop can pull tabs make a wheelchair?

They might not be used to make the wheel chair. sometimes they are collected and recycled then the money is donated. My cousin used to collect them to donate to help raise and train the seeing eye dogs in our area. I have seen them collected for the Ronald McDonald house as well.

There is more aluminum in the tab of the cans then in the whole can I was told by someone. They take the tabs and sell them for scrap and donate the money to buy wheelchairs. But I don't know who does it anymore.
