Hmnnn, both yes and no. This is so because most of the poor baggers are run away from the shelter they are provided. They do not like to stay there for they have to work and do not get either much money or freedom of movement. Still I consider some of them. Before I give money I scan if he/she deserves some monetary help. If not I shooo away and if otherwise I do give. By not giving them money I do not mean to be a mean fellow but the important thing is I just do not want to spoil them as there are various organizations to help them out.

I do think I know what you are getting at here. I like to help those in need. There were people that helped me in some times of trouble. I don't feel good if someone turns their back on me. Any time in our lives we could be faced with needing a helping hand. What if you were in need. Would you want someone to turn away from you because they might have certain thoughts against you?

Hi! You got me wrong. Please read the original text. It is about giving alms to the poor baggers not reciprocation that you helped me once and now I should help you. I was not referring to what you have picked up. Please read the text and then my response to the topic. You will understand.

I don't give money to homeless people. Because most of them are very rude and demanding. Last time I gave away a dollar the guy yelled at me that it was too little and not to come back - so no money for hobos.

I haven't heard of the homeless referred to as hobos for the longest time. I think that word really demeans people. I could easily fall into that spot at any time. I do have a home and family right now. Tomorrow it could be gone just like with any one of us. I am going to help someone if I can.

I don't mean to be demeaning, but the homeless people here are very rude and aggressive. I understand sleeping on the street messes you up and you can tell that most of them have gone crazy. You are not helping them by giving them money. I've donated money to homeless shelters and played concerts for the shelters and I think that's worth more to invest in. Because homeless people will never make enough money to get shelter, they usually do not have bank accounts so there's a high risk of getting robbed. Hence helping shelters expand is a good idea.

No no one should give money to any beggar because if u give them money once they have easy money and would never do anything else other than beg. And beggars mostly are theives and usually it is a mafia and they deliberately break their hands or foot to get more money as alams.

I do agree to a point with you. I like to help the homeless and the needy if I can. I am not really in a position right now because my family is a little needy right now and we have to save all that we can to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table. I can understand that there might be people begging and taking advantage of people but it is not likely that it is all of them. So I want to continue to give if I can.

Hi friend! I do help the poor..but mostly I avoid giving money to them, instead I buy them some eatables like bread, biscuits...etc..! This way we can make sure that they are benefited infront of us and also we are not cheated anymore! Many beggars are not using the money what they earned, they are treated as slaves and the head of them will eat all their money!!!

That is a good point there. That is another way of helping. If they truly appreciate what we give them then they would enjoy having the tangible things like bread and other items. Sometimes money can be used for the wrong things by the homeless but I still like to help out where I can.

Yes we do give money to the poor. I don't seem to find any problem with regards to that. It is better to give than to receive. Before my hubby tells me not to give because those street beggars belong to a certain syndicate and they do it for business, not because they want money to eat or so. But i told him, no matter what they do, they are accountable for that to God. And if ever i see someone begging something to eat, i will give. It is God who sees us, and the motives we have in our hearts. That single cent i give, that is nothing. What is important is that they will hear the Gospel of Christ, to save their soul. But if one day comes, they grow up, not on streets anymore, maybe that single cent i gave them with my prayer would be answered by God.

I am happy to hear that you do give money to the poor. You are like myself. I like to help those in need. Even when I don't have much if I can just give a little of something then that is all worth it. I can see that your husband does not want you to give anything. That is his opinion and he is entitled to it. He might turn his opinion around some day on the matter.

Since we have lived here in Mexico we have seen alot of beggars come up to us . There are alot of them in Centro , and it's very sad . I always like to keep some spare change in my pocket when going to Centro for that purpose. When we lived in town we would get beggars come to our gate wanting money. We learned to say no after awhile , because it became a constant thing . Since we have been living in this little fishing village we get a couple of cute little girls that come over asking for food . We make up lunches for them when they come . We might refuse someone asking for money, but never someone asking for food .

I normally don't give money to beggars, but what I would do is go to the nearest fast food place and buy them food that way I know they are using the money for food. Or I would give them the jacket off my back.

I usually don't give money to the beggars because if I would do so, it's just like favoring their laziness. I am kind hearted to the needy but not to the lazy persons who are physically able but find a living through begging. i give money to those who are physically challenged or handicapped but still do work for them to live.

I will occasionally give to those who may be homeless or looking for help. Unfortunately, I am not in a position to give even a dollar to someone right now, since neither hubby nor I are currently working due to our lovely economy here in the U.S...but when I am able to, I do.

well, i give money to poor beggers, but more i donate to the Church. I feel so good when i do a good thing, when i help someone to pass a problem or something like this. Alwys it`s so good to make something good for the one that it`s next to you. Some beggers do that just to became rich. They earn a lot from that, and there are a lot of bloggers that don`t deserve even a cent

I don't give to beggers, for various reasons. 1. In some of the urban areas I pass through, I don't think it's safe to just open your purse and give everybody on the street a good look at what's inside. 2. Near us there's a couple of takeaway shops. I can maybe afford to buy takeout, once or twice a month, but those beggers eat what I can't afford most of the time on a daily basis. 3. Some people really are just taking a chance. I have been approached by the same man on several occasions, who claims to be stuck with a group of people who need transport because they have run out of gas. Surely, he cannot be so disorganized as to have had that happen not once, but regularly. I mean, I don't even own a car, so why should I bail him out? I would support night shelters, job creation projects, soup kitchens, the salvation army, etc, because I think those organizations do good work and that helps the poor. In our city there's a project that employs street people to work in four hour shifts cleaning the city. They have managed to give people that are normally looked down on, dignity and a purpose. The project has been going on for a few years and it really does make a difference.

I do give IF i do have extra money. But if I really need the money badly I will not give. There must have a limitations as for now the problem here in country is big. Prices of food are getting higher. I need to save some for me
