Do we have ANY REAL RECOURSE?

United States

OK, it seems a lot of people in this country are up in arms about the things that we see going on in this Administration -- and the danger it's putting our nation in. We have good cause. But here's my question. Is there ANY real recourse that we have? I don't see any at this point. I never thought I'd say that in my lifetime, as an American citizen. But these people are willing to do ANYTHING it seems, to make sure that their way wins every argument. That was evident by the way the "Stimulus bill" was handled. It seems like we have no choice but to sit and watch our country and our people ruined, quite possibly beyond repair, step by step. I'm not asking what we "should" do, or rather, what the government "should" do. We all know that. I'm asking WHAT CAN WE DO to put an early END to these crimes?

Recourse at the ballot box is the only answer. Until the next election we see to it that as many people as possible are better informed so we as a nation don't make the same mistake at the ballot box again.

People have been stupid at the ballot box. 0bama is living breathing proof of that. We need to educate the voters better. Any other alternative will result in defeat and disaster. Whichever side resorts to violence first will lose.

Riots and organized violence are possible when in a few years inflation really takes off as a result of the bailouts and stimulus packages. No less than Jimmy Carter's former National Security Advisor has warned of violence as a result of the financial crisis.

RYBDOG, What do you mean when you say violence -- as whoever resorts to violence first will lose? Are you talking about rioting kinds of stuff, like in the 1960's? Or organized violence, as in the 1760's???

Hold the politicians (dems and reps) accountable for their voting practices and vote them out of office. Even better yet,run against them. Let's put them back into the world they are creating.

Yes, good idea....IF we're still allowed to vote by 2010!! I'm serious -- I'm worried we don't have that long to wait. They are on a super mission, and seem to think they have a mandate from God!

Don't forget Bush made it legal for the President to declare Martial Law and he doesn't need anyone to approve it. All we need is another 9/11 and you can bet it will happen. When it does look out brother. We will be told what we can do and when we can do it. A bad crash of our economy is all Obama would need to declare Martial Law and then he can stay in office until the threat passes which could be several years. I have been around for a long time and I have seen a lot of things happen in this nation but right now nothing would surprise me. Art

I only see 2 alternatives. One is to get involved and informed and join an effort to clean house in the mid term election. The other is to dust off the 2nd Amendment and redo 1776. Obviously the first is preferable to the second.

If I said what I really thought, I would probably be banned.

That is an excelent question. We do have a recourse but do people want to take that road is the question. Not so much what can we do but what will we do? I know in my place I am doing what I can and finishing my books so maybe things can change. To let people know their rights and remind them that there are actions that can be done to save our Country. As one Patriot to another...We do have a recourse, it is more when are we ready to take it? Ainge

The only thing I can see that we can do is to speak out every chance we have, and sign the petitions that are put out to be sent to the politicians (not that they always take note!). We should not be doing 'civil disobedience' which I just read that the ACORN people are about to do about the foreclosures of their homes, according to according to Michelle Malkin. This administration went in office vowing they would CHANGE things in America, and change they have done, but not the good change. And they have the people in place to make sure it is carried out. They own the White House and the Capitol. Nobody can stop them, it seems. I just don't see anything we can do because, if we rise up, they are going to find away to shut us up or put us in prison for being trouble makers. I think it's just their nature and they are going to take over the US!

sndcain, you are so correct. We warned them all, and no, they wanted change. They followed the leader, and the leader has turned on them. But they will find someone else to blame when things don't work out the way they thought it would. Guess who that will be!

We warned them, and they didn't listen, they are like lambs being led to slaughter; but unlike the lambs, they are dragging us down with them.

I was just discussing this question with some friends and we all came to the conclusion that there does not seem to be anything we can do. (There are none so blind as those who WILL not see") I guess we just sit and wait until the sh1t hits the fan and pray that then it will not be too late to recover.

There is a lot you can still do. We have not even begun. But it depends heavily on people joining together in large numbers to fight it. Keep the preasure up. Keep calling your reps. Get tons of people to call. Crash their phone lines.Daily. Hold rallies and protests. We should be in the streets in mass droves protesting what is being done to our country. Especially in states with democratic members of the house and senate, but in the all the states as well. THey want to be re-elected. If they see tons of people from their state protesting it will slow them down. But as I said it depends on getting organized and getting a lot of people who are ready to really stand up for themselves. Also you can do recalls. Got enough people in your state that do not like what your elected officials are doing? Start the recall process. It is not easy but it can be done. I just depends on how hard we are willing to fight this. They want you to just sit back and take it. But are you? Are any of us? If we do sit back and take it then we deserve what happens to us and this country.

I honestly don't know, but I'll be watching this discussion to see if anyoen else has an idea. At this point all we can do is hope they don't f things up irreparably before the 2010 and 2012 elections. Have you heard about the detention camps being proposed for people who dare to speak out against this insanity?
