I choose water and fluid intake when I am ill rather than take medicine, I find this very comfortable because it effectively flush out deadly bacteria and can speed up recovery. But this practice is not acceptable to other people.
How about you what do you prefer between the two?

I try water and time first but when it gets bad I take medicine. I am a huge believer in the healing powers of water. I also think that the right amounts of water will help fight off these illnesses before the sink in as bad.

Water is needed by our body specially when you do feel sick. Water can make your body temperature low since you will sweat when you put blanket or jacket onto yourself when you have a high fever.
But you also need to take paracetamol or any medicine that will work together for you antibodies to work. In order to speed up your recovery , you need doctor prescribed medicines too. Fever that is more than three days is bad so don't self medicate yourself.
It is still better to go to a doctor if your fever is still there. For me taking a lot of fruit juices and water makes my body fight back to disease. And your medicine will do help a lot too.

you are supposed to drink a lot when you are sick to flush out the bugs that are making you sick. i try to drink a lot of water during the day on a daily basis and drink more when i am sick. i also drink tea (coffee is a diaretic), but water is a good thing to drink.

Well I have never had the flu and I can't remember the last time I had a fever. But since I'm not big on taking medicine unless it is absolutely necessary, I would probably go with the fluids. I do have to wonder how a fever would be defined for me since my temperature usually runs almost a degree lower than what is considered the norm.

I take both. I take medicines and lots of fluids. Water may be good for the body, but if you have an infection (which also causes fever) water doesn't alleviate your pain or your illness, you need antibiotics for those. However, for flu (or other viral diseases) you can't really cure the virus but you could control your temperature by medicines. Water intake is good as a supplement.
Why stay in the dark ages when you can get good medicines for your pains?

When having the flu i usually have to go to the doctor because i cant take any decongenstits over the counter because im allergic to something that is in it so i usually have to spend the money and go but of course i drink alot of fluids because you can reduce your fever that way and getting outside to get the vitamin c directly is always good and then there is the juices that are good for you too.

Fruit juices also are best therapy, aside from increasing your fluid intakes, juices also offer additional nutritional punches, it can also avoid a person from contacting a disease called Ketosis, it's a total lack of Carbohydrates in the diet that we acquire ketosis. Some fruits contained good amount of carbohydrates and calories.

Since I don't have medical insurance or anything, doctors and medicine are last resorts. I usually start with plenty of liquids and chicken soup. I stay indoors, keep warm and start using over the counter stuff like NyQuil to try to battle it. If, and when, it gets to the "definately serious" stage, I go to the doctor and she prescribes the heavy duty meds that get rid of it.

Like you, I don't like taking medicine and do my best to avoid it even when I am sick. I do try to take plenty of fluids though. However, the last time I was sick I couldn't hold anything down for the first 24 hours or so...not even water. I just slept the sickness away during this time as I couldn't do anything else anyway.

I'll normally take a lot of water which I already normally do? HahaJust that I'll take more compared to normal. Actually before the flu or fever hits, I'll take extra dosage of vitamins especially Vitamins B & C. The fever & flu are just plain systems of the body needing rest. Even if you go to the doctors, they'll just give you medicine to knock you off so that you can rest more for your exhausting body to recover. Anyway I never liked the idea of going to the doctors which most often then not they'll give you antibiotics which will take months, some even years to flush out from one's body. Plus most antibiotics have side effects & the residue just kills your body system

Agree with you ^_^
Yap too bad, there's some people really addicted with medicine--they just think only medicine that can speed up the recovery actually medicine just only to help the recovery of fever or flu.

It's actually a "requirement" to drink lots of fluids when someone has a fever. When our body temperature is higher than normal, we tend to lose more water in the form of heat - we sweat, and stuff. Dehydration makes our body weaker to fight against the foreign bodies in our system :)
Thanks for the response on my discussion!

I agree with you absolutely..Both my hubby and I would rather drink water and keep hydrated...We feel as though we are flushing out the bacteria as well..I would rather put natural water in my body then some kind of foreign medicine.
Now however, I retain fluid and have to limit my intake, but I still try to get some fresh water in. I feel as if my body is saying "thankyou"....lol
