Abducted children

Some of you may be aware of the search for a little girl out of Florida that was abducted from her bed on Feb 10. The story has been on every news channel down here, CNN news, Nancy Grace and more.
They are doing everything in their power to find this little girl.
What I don't understand is why little six-year-old Adji Desir who disappeared in Florida the day after the little girl isn't getting the same media attention.
They say he is developmentally disabled and probably just wandered off, even so, he is still missing. I recall a small blip on the news about him and that was the end of it. Little Adji is African-American.(Who would be a better target for abduction then a child who is developmentally disabled)
Some would say it might be a race issue, I don't believe that because little six-year-old Christopher Barrios was of African-American and Hispanic decent and his case also received national media attention.
I DO NOT BEGRUDGE ANY OF THESE CHILDREN THE ATTENTION THEY ARE RECEIVING!!!!
I just don't understand why some get it and others don't. I for one don't go to websites searching for missing children, I watch the news on TV and read it on my computer, if the story is there in front of my face nonstop, like these two children are and were, their little faces become very familiar and I find myself keeping my eyes open.
Does the media really care? I find it hard to believe, how can they care about one and give it so much air time, and just a blip for another.

That is something to think about isn't it. I did see that about the little boy with disabilities missing in Florida. You don't hear that much about him. I was wondering what was happening in that case. The news media is constantly talking about the little girls on Nancy Grace, CNN and HLN. I see that all the time.

I tried finding out more about this little boy online but couldn't find anything, just where they believe he may have wandered off. I couldn't find where and what steps they were taking to find him.
I'm sure something is being done to find him, but he must not be worthy of national news. And that's the part that has me baffled, why not?

You know about Amber alerts? Well, several groups that noticed that some children are being forgotten has started something called a Rilya Alert. It focuses on those children like Little Adji.
Now there is another group who needs help. Special needs kids who wonder off aren't allowed to be part of either of the above alerts. There is no protection for them. There should be, because they won't yell for help like other children. They are more at risk for abuse.
You may remember Rilya Wilson from the news. Her foster mother killed her in Dec. 2000 but it wasn't for over 15 months before the state of florida really knew what had happened. Two things happened... changes to Florida's child welfare system (we hope) and the new alert system.
The Rilya Alert was created by the staff of the Peas In A Pod and the creator of the Amber alert to help spread the awareness and help find the African-American children that make up 42% of the missing children in the US.

I was not aware of these other alerts, and I sure didn't know that 42% of African-American children were being abducted.
I think one place they need to start is exterminating the abductors, I'm not talking about a mom running off with the child.
I'm talking about these people that sexually abuse children. They need to be put-down. Get them off the face of the earth. They are rabid, there is no cure, so why waste space housing them. No reason to appeal their case when they have been caught red-handed, just do it and be done with it.
How many lives does one pedophile effect in a years time? Those that have the potential to give into these urges might not if they knew the trade off would be their life.
Also, this freedom of speech and press, freedom of this and freedom of that is crap. Our forefathers had no idea that what they were signing into law was going to be used to fuel these pedophiles appetites and rights. If they had known, it would have been written up a little different.

Did you see my post about the ChildLovers? I think I remember you there.... But I added a few more links and information on there you might want to check out, if you haven't seen them yet. It proves you are right about freedom of speech and it helping the nasty folks.
And yes the world doesn't need to keep those people around.

There you have it. I mentioned above about Geraldo questioning this young father and him spanking little Haleigh.
I'm inclined to agree with you about them looking for a scandal, and apparently they couldn't find one so in comes the big name and here we go.

I have to honestly say that I don't feel the media itself as an industry truly has any compassion-it's become sensationalism. However, I do believe that some of the anchors on the news truly care about these children. Since we have media I feel we should use it to the best we can, but if it is used is truly based upon what the FBI feels is best. The problem is, once 24 hours passes the clock goes down drastically that the child will be found alive. I like amber alerts but there is a time limit and that is costing children their life. Children should be placed on amber alerts as soon as the child goes missing. We've a much better system then we did thanks go John Walsh's efforts, but we have a long way to go.

We sure have come a long way since little Adam Walsh was abducted, but what a price to pay.
I saw a blip on TV this morning where Geraldo upset this little girls dad by asking questions about him spanking her. The news was calling it an altercation, Geraldo said it wasn't an altercation, the dad just didn't like the questions that was being asked.
(what right did he have interrogating him in the first place?)He made it sound like the dad had something to hide, which I believe is exactly what he wanted to do.
They want a story, if they don't have something juicy enough, they know just what questions to ask to get one started. Geraldo has probably hurt the rest of the media that really wants to help find this little girl, the dad probably wont trust them enough now to talk to them.

Oh, I just can't stand Geraldo. He's one of many that practices sensationalist journalism. And to be honest, it doesn't help find the child! Thanks for your thoughtful response. Namaste-Anora
