I recently became the food storage Specialist for my ward. My question is, since both the church and the government suggest having enough supplies on hand to survive for at least 72 hours (The average time it takes emergency workers to respond to a disaster) How many people have enough food, water, medication, clothing, etc set aside for such an emergency?

I am new to food storage, but I have enough right now to last my family for 3 months. My goal is to have enough for a year. I am also learning canning our own veggies and fruits. I want to make sure I have enough to last from year to the next year, then can another year supply.

I make sure I have enough food, water and medications to last me a month. I do not want to be stuck in a bad situation without these necessities. Everyone should be prepared for the worst and have an emergency plan.
